I have a couple of pages left in Bound to the Fire: How Virginia's Enslaved Cooks Helped Invent American Cuisine by Kelly Fanto Deetz. I think it's her dissertation, so it reads a bit like one. I'm relatively well-versed in the interpretation African Americans in Virginia plantations, so the subject matter is fascinating and since I know her I am happy to support her because her work is amazing. After I finish that...I need to pick my next book out of the three remaining books that DH gave me for Christmas.
QOTW: We're heading to the local women's march here shortly. Other than that, probably groceries and if the weather holds, church in the AM. I plan to clean the bathroom later, so that's exciting...not. No long weekend for me.
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark messed me up too!! I hung a sheet over the sliding glass door because I kept thinking someone was watching me. Had to quit that early.
I just finished Paperback Crush about all the series like babysitters club, sweet valley, etc. It was something mindless and nostalgic after something that gave me nightmares.
Now I’m reading One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus. It’s alright so far but I’m only 15% in.
I liked this one! I hope it grabs you as you read further on.
I'm reading Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account by Dr. Miklos Nyiszli
It is heartbreaking. I just about cry during every chapter. The horror that was inflicted on so many innocent people...I am struggling to keep reading it.
