It started at 3 PM on my belly, under my bra, and chest, directly where C slept on me for an hour. Whole area was red and hivey. Got it mostly settled but had some itchy patches. 8 PM put on a sweatshirt. Almost immediately break out along wrists, neck, more bra line (and I'm not wearing a bra) along with areas where my underwear is touching. I eventually take a cool shower, have a zyrtec and go to bed. It's fine this morning.
What gives?
This happened to me in third tri with Ds2. My midwife recommended this soap from WF to help...unfortunately I can’t remember the name but it was grandpas something or other. I’ll look when I go tomorrow! She said it was because of swelling and skin stretching 🤷🏻♀️
Ok, I feel better with not wanting to take it then. Honestly, the classes are during the week at night and the last thing I want to do after work is go sit in a class. It’s been a while since we’ve had a baby around but I think we’ll be ok.
Thanks everyone! It makes me sad, I was so looking forward to a little vacation. I didn’t really think about my recovery/hormones, I was only thinking about the actual travel part. I’ve clearly never had a kid before because I assumed I’d be fine by then. 🤷🏻♀️
I went to a wedding 4 weeks after DS2 was born but the wedding was close by and my parents babysat. If you breastfeed you will likely have to leave pumped milk and then pump during the wedding which I had to do - that wasn’t so easy to find a place at the wedding to do that. That and flying would give me pause. Mentally I was up for it! With DS1 I flew internationally by myself at 8 weeks (London to California). It was fine except strangers wanted to look and touch the baby. I kept him in a moby wrap the whole time. Recovery with DS1 was easy even with tearing. Recovery with DS2 was definitely harder but he was also a 10# + baby.
turbo, probably because I haven't denied myself the occasional beer or glass of wine. *shrugs* Studies in Europe and Australia (where drinking is more permissible during pregnancy) have shown no decrease in intelligence, school performance, IQ scores, etc, when women have up to one drink per day in 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Even when controlled for educational and SE status.
I only stay away from hard liquors, so I may ask someone to bring me a margarita. A margarita was the last liquor I had before starting stims last June.
I haven't been able to have even a sip of wine in months due to the acid reflux. But I do drink the occasional tiny glass of beer. I did not pack booze in my hospital bag, but I definitely have a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge!
@poppyseed my kids were 4.5 years apart and we didn’t do any of the classes. I did go to the hospital orientation before but we were delivering at a different hospital. #3 will also be 4 years apart and I’m not doing any of the classes or orientations.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I think I finally felt movement this week, but since I haven’t experienced it before, I am not too sure! I started on prednisone last week and it has helped my Arthritis so much. My rheumatologist wants me to go back on my infusion medication, but I am sticking with just the prednisone until it isn’t working anymore.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I am taking a year, but I am taking the month of May off as vacation, so I am planning my last day as May 3. Our vacation accumulates while we are gone as well and we need to use it before we return, so I will have another month I can take before I come back, so I will end up with around 14 months off. Due to the nature of H’snjob, he can’t really take to much time off, so he is planning a week or two after she is born. He does work at home though, so he will be around!

Pregnancy is weird, man. I haven’t been able to wear my engagement ring in ~8w bc I break out in a rash within a few hours. My wedding band - same material, same finger - is fine.
woowoo I would wait until after the ultrasound and see what the results are before making any decisions (which it sounds like you are doing). Sorry 😞 that is so stressful! (hugs)

The time alone would make me not want to go, but even as a FTM I didn't do the class. I had literally only held one baby in my life, never changed a diaper, etc, and the nurses showed me everything before I left the hospital. Having had a kid, you'll be totally fine, IMO.

Yeah I didn't take any classes. I felt the same way about giving up my weeknight and figured that things like baby care and breastfeeding are probably best learned by experience. No regrets.
The only class I wish I had taken was CPR/first aid. My DH keeps up his certification due to his job, but mine has long expired and I could probably use a refresher.
1. How far along are you this week? 26 weeks with baby #3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? The nursery is pretty much done. We just have to hang the pictures I ordered off Etsy and had framed. All baby newborn and 0-3 month clothes are washed and I'm halfway through putting them away.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's your maternity leave plan? Is your partner taking leave as well? I will most likely have this baby the first week(ish) of April. I will take leave that brings me to the end of the school year and then I already have June, July, and August off. I will go back to work that very last week of August when baby is 5 months.
DH gets 6 weeks fully paid and it doesn't come out of his PTO time. We are thinking he'll take 4 weeks immediately following baby and then use those other 2 weeks in the summer sometime.
I want sushi and Prosecco immediately after this kid is out. I have been good and following the “rules” this pregnancy about all of that stuff and I’m ready to basically get buzzed and pig out.

New here!
I’m six weeks today, with baby #3
I’m a little scared because morning sickness kicked in a few days ago. That seems really early and I already feel sicker than I ever did with my first two. I had false confidence that I wouldn’t feel awful because I never have before. :/
This baby will be 10 years younger than my oldest and 8 years younger than my second. This pregnancy was intentional but I’m a little nervous about the large gap. Does anyone else have a large age spread?
I stay at home so maternity leave isn’t a thing for me. I’m excited that the baby is due at the beginning of the school year and the school is a walkable distance away though! Hopefully the oldest two will be able to take care of themselves for the morning routine.

Mine will be 8 and 4 when #3 arrives. This pregnancy has been by far the hardest and most morning sickness (sorry). I’m about half way at this point and the morning sickness went away around week 16. My kids will all be at different schools for most of their schooling so I’m daunted by how I’m going to get kids to three different schools and all their activities. I’ll be living in my car....

Oh I’m not denying myself the occasional glass of wine or beer, but I definitely intend to celebrate not being pregnant (and a birthday)! I cracked a bottle of good champagne when my family came to meet DS the night he was born and we had cake that I shipped in from Milkbar. I had some wine here or there during his pregnancy (and an but it wasn’t anything good, so I was champing at the bit to enjoy the good stuff. But mainly I was just Laughing to myself at how practical all of the hospital bag recommendations are. I literally packed champagne, cake, a whole slew of cured meats and soft cheeses, and then I packed a million other items I didn’t use. I did use the champagne and cake though!
Is the milk bar cake worth it? I’m super curious and have considered ordering one for my own birthday, but I need a review. Lol
Last pregnancy I had gestational diabetes, so after I delivered I had people bring me local cider donuts, flavored lattes, lasagna, good bread, etc. in the hospital. Y'all are making me think I need to up my game in this department!

I mean, I love Milkbar and hit it up whenever we’re in NYC so... yes? But it was already a known quantity to me and I got free shipping during a Goldbely promo. I also wasn’t about to bake a cake to take along but wanted something to celebrate his birthday (because for the first child I wanted to do ALL the things and now I’m like, “Eh, whatever second child.”). Also I am a crazy fan of Funfetti. Just typing this out is making me think I might go downstairs and bake a cake...
Ooo my sister LOVES funfetti. I bet now we are in the same city she would totally bring a cake to meet Ds3.
She’s our childcare so maybe she will get the big boys to help which just sounds so sweet to me.
I ate “forbidden” foods from good sources and limited quantities so I didn’t really miss anything a ton. Plus I delivered at home and then at a birth center (went home 3hrs after birth)so I didn’t really need to bring much.
I did have plans of baking a birthday cake in early labor (LOL at FTM me) with Ds1 😂
Yeah, I'm totally following the rules regarding food/alcohol. Because of everything we had to go through with IVF, I don't want to take any chances even if they are slim to none.
I can't WAIT for my Italian hoagie after birth. Debating smuggling in a bottle of red wine, as I've been craving it for the past 6 months.
I was the same (I'm a tiny bit more lax this time, but not much) and let me tell you. It was the best freaking sandwich of my life. Omg. I kept reminding H all through labor and my c-section to be ready to get it as soon as I felt like eating.
turbo, now those are some snacks I can get behind!
I've already told H somebody is getting me an Italian sandwich. I'm willing to eat one if I cook the salami, etc. but homemade just isnt the same as from our local deli.

Let me at those cured meats!
For absolutely no rational reason at all, I have decided that salami is the safest deli meat and confess to eating some of it uncooked during this pregnancy. LOL. I've caved two or three times. It's my biggest craving! I can't wait to shove an Italian hoagie in my face within minutes after giving birth.
After DS was born I think I ate salami on a potato roll every day for my entire maternity leave. SOOOOOOOOO good.
Pregnancy totally makes me crave Italian hoagies and tuna fish. And soft serve which they say can harbor listeria. Although I have allowed myself some soft serve occasionally. It's too good.

Not quite the same, but my SD (who is with us almost full time) is 13 so we will have a very large age gap. I actually think it's nice, because she's independent/self-sufficient and can be helpful, and she has repeatedly expressed a desire to babysit (at least she says that now, lol). She's always been really good with our two little nieces who are now 3 and 4, so I think she will be a lot of fun with our new DD.
One thing I find very encouraging is that my son loves babies. He will find a baby to entertain in social situations, offer to follow a toddler around a playground so his mom can rest, etc. I hope having one around 24/7 won’t spoil it for him! Haha
I mean, they had a listeria recall in ice cream a few years ago, and I sure as hell ain't giving that up!
And yeah. Lettuce is shady AF. I've got H on a mission to grow it indoors this winter.
(Though my concern with the cured meats is toxoplasmosis from the uncooked pork, not listeria)
Yea it was freaking Blue Bell which I absolutely love and I was pregnant at the time. I was SO SAD and it was one of the first things I ate after delivery (it was back on the shelves by then after they cleaned their factory). I lived like 45 minutes from them at the time, so we were one of the first ones to get the clean ice cream.
Thanks to everyone for the support over my anatomy scan. I went to my regular OB today for my normal check in, and he seemed a little annoyed at the high risk Dr. for making me worry. He said only about 30% of his patients come away from that appointment with absolutely nothing showing on the scan and that I should NOT worry that I've been called back. He also said that out of the 5000+ babies he's delivered over his career, and of the over 30K babies delivered in their practice since he's been there he's never seen or heard of a singular liv*er calc*ification at this stage being anything to be concerned about. So I'm feeling much much better.
And I'm not worrying about deli meat either in this pregnancy. I"m staying away from the uncooked salami-type meats more for toxoplasmosis, but the risk of listeria is much much higher from fresh fruits and veggies than deli meat. But again, my risk of dying from driving on I-75 every day is much much higher than catching listeria....
I'm also letting myself enjoy one really good glass of wine a week. My Dr. was 100% fine with it in small amounts (no more than 3-4/week). But I'm good with one a week!
Today is my birthday, so we're going out to dinner on Saturday. (Convenient timing: our Y is doing a 3 hour parents' night out childcare for $20! Win.) I'm not quite brave enough to order my own glass of wine in public with this big belly, but you better believe I'm going to have Calvin order something I like so I can have half.
