I’m leaving around lunch today to go get a haircut. The kids have early dismissal so I’ll have extra time this afternoon with them. I don’t know how we will spend it, but I’m sure it will be fun!
Some new people moved in 2 houses down, so DD wants to make a welcome basket for them. We will make cookies and muffins, I think. Sunday we are open, so I’m happy about that. I might see if any friends want to come over and have a semi-spontaneous play date.
Impromptu ski trip with the kids! They'll do a lesson on the bunny slope and I'm really tempted to get myself back on skis. It's been like 10 years since I skied, which is insane. I used to go every single weekend!
I'll also be frantically researching other options to get myself to NYC in 2 weeks, given the update about LaGuardia that I just saw on the news. I'm panicking that my flight is going to get screwed up. I bought Harry Potter tickets a year and a half ago and now this government shutdown could mess it up. Thankfully we could drive if we have to, but I'd really rather not...

I’ve been off all week! It’s been great. H and I went out of town Sat-Mon for our anniversary and the rest of the week I’ve been decluttering, I completely rearranged the kitchen, arranged for the AC to be serviced, got my eyebrows threaded and just generally lazed around.
Tonight we are all going to DD2’s school international night — which may be a challenge as both kids had a terrible time sleeping last night and didn’t want to get up this morning. This weekend H has some work to do at the rental so it will mostly be the kids and I. DD1 has a horse riding lesson tomorrow AM and I’ll get DD2 a pony ride during and then we will visit my parents since we will be near there anyway. That evening I’m going out for a late dinner and margaritas with a friend I don’t see much and Sunday afternoon another friend and her daughter are coming for a play date.
twinmomma, I think the airport delay stuff is more hype/news than reality. My firm has 6 offices and we all travel a lot, and no one has had any abnormal issues yet related to the shutdown. I hope that’s not changing. I did have a slightly delayed flight on Tuesday, but that was because there were so few people flying that the airline decided to cancel two flights and combine them all into one (they cancelled the noon and the 4 pm and delayed the 3:25 to 4:05). But not a huge inconvenience. DH was in NYC for work last week and had a whole row to himself coming back to CA.
I’m wishing that I had my bunion surgery earlier in the week so I could justify having more days to relax. Weekends are not relaxing with the 3 kids, eapecially the 19-month-old, who has no concept of letting mom relax. Luckily, I haven’t needed any pain meds other than regular Tylenol, and I’m walking in the boot just fine, and it’s been less than 24 hours since the surgery. I don’t want to jinx it but have been pleasantly surprised so far. It’s good I can get around because I have a bazillion loads of laundry to do after a lot of work travel and our ski trip last weekend.
Should be a decent weekend. Kids and I will hang out tonight. It was a rough morning and I got angry when no one would listen and do what they needed to do to get out the door this morning, so I'm anxious to make it up to them.
Tomorrow DD1 has plans with my mom. DD2 was supposed to have a play date at a local pool/waterpark at an upscale gym (we don't belong there), but the family canceled because "oops! too busy!" She cried for like 2 hours - I felt awful. So we will do something together. Then DH and I are going out for a date night.
Sunday DD1 has a birthday party, which conflicts with basketball, so we'll skip the game.
DH, after being gone Mon-Wed night, and not participating at all last night, is going out with friends/clients tonight. I'm pretty burnt out and could use some help, but such is life. I'm hoping he comes home super late because he'll probably be drunk. I'm not excited about it.
sdlaura, According to the news, FAA halted all incoming flights to LaGuardia due to staffing issues today. I realize that two weeks is an eternity before I fly, but I refuse to miss this show!
I’m ready for the weekend because there are no planned medical appointments.
Picking DD up from a play date then making pizza and playing games. DH worked from home to handle washer repair. My neighbor did all our laundry (towels, blankets, kids). She’s a godsend.
Working out then picking up coffee with a friend tomorrow morning, then in theory lunch with my sister, niece and mom. But I want to delay that because DD is unwell and also because I have not yet Christmas shopped for my sister.
GNO at a fancy pants restaurant Saturday night. Need that.
Sunday church, chores, errands, more grocery label reading, need to figure out how to reorganize the fridge. I need to go for a run because it’s my last weekend before my 5k due to DS’ birthday trip. Then again, my goal is finishing, not PR, so I am kind of ambivalent.
Massage tonight and then picking up the kids and having pizza and a movie night.
Saturday we have DD1's basketball game in the morning and then she has a birthday party that night. I'm taking DD1 and DD2 to lunch for my Grandma's birthday with my Mom and Aunts. It's always so much fun interacting as three generations and listening to them talk about the old days.
Sunday will probably be a Costco run, laundry and more tidying up the house. We need to tackle the kids' books next. I'm not sure if DH will work on the basement too.

My weekend will consist of trying to stay warm. We are single digits today and then it warms up to mid 20s on Monday just in time for more snow. The forecast calls for single digit to below zero temps next week and even more snow. Never thought I’d wish for a mid 20s forecast!
Tonight nothing is on the calendar except DD is babysitting the neighbor kids. Tomorrow is DSs basketball game and then maybe drinks with friends that night. Otherwise nothing is planned so maybe I’ll force myself to be lazy and not feel guilty about it.
I woke up with a headache this morning and have no motivation to work today. I have slept the whole night the last couple days but it has been the dreamy light sleep so not feeling rested.
I'm hosting a sleepover for the 1st time tonight. Meeting up at open gym and then will bring both girls home afterwards. Hoping the crash pretty soon after that since it is passed both their bedtimes. Then will let them play in the morning before taking M home. DD and I need to do a fabric store run with a friend to fix her jeans.
Sunday will be laundry, housework, meal prep and maybe a nap.
If your usual schedule is to work from home on Fridays, and you ended up going into the office on a Friday and someone asked why you'd come in, you'd give some kind of explanation right? Not just pretend that it's 100% normal?
I am off work as a total freebie no vacation time needed to be taken.
I read to DS’s class at 2. I better look at that schedule again and make sure the book is short enough.
I tried to make it a me day- breakfast out with DH, took a bath/ skincare, took my vitamins and ordered my groceries. But I still feel blah because it is sooo cold here and I feel like I am always bloated so I am trying to go milk free and eat less gluten this week. Not truly elimination but working towards that maybe. And I got myself some lactase in case that is it.
Family movie night tonight, Dentist, DH has a massage and haircut booked, dance class and drop off the derby car. Sunday Derby car races. I kind of wish my weekends weren’t taken up by Scout stuff so I could plan dome play dates for DD. I want to keep up with people but when I look at my schedule I have something everyday. I don’t mind 2 things in one day but it’s hard to suggest to host when I don’t know when I can host.

Random: Gap has a certain pair of active pants that I really like for DS. They are lined, so warm enough for him to wear in winter here, but not so heavily lined that he can also wear them for the early part of the spring and late fall. Usually they are about $30, but they are on sale for $15, plus an extra 20% off, so $12. I bought him 3 pairs in the next size up, for next year. Plus I got 8% cash back through Ebates.
Today I WFH due to terrible roads (my normal 25 minute commute would've taken an hour or more - a coworker who lives near me said it took her about an hour and 15 minutes to get to work). My parents were here (they normally come on Fridays to take the kids to school and pick them up, and my mom does laundry while they're at school), so that was nice to not have to 100% manage the kids so I could actually work, and my parents even took us out to lunch.
Tonight DS has baseball practice and I'll probably run to the grocery store with DD.
Tomorrow MIL is coming over so we can celebrate DD's birthday (2 weeks early) since MIL will be gone when we would normally celebrate with grandparents. Other than that, I'll be catching up on cleaning other than that.
Sunday is church, nothing planned in the afternoon, and then small group in the evening.
Next week is predicted to be polar vortex temps, so I'm not looking forward to that. Wind chills on Wednesday might be near or below -20, so we'll see if the kids have school that day.
mae0111, No, definitely don't have to fly. I had enough points that it's free and we're only going for 48 hours so it was a fast, easy way to get down there and back. We'll probably just drive down if the flights are still a mess by then. It's like 5 hours, so not terrible.
it's so flipping cold here (-35 below with wind chill). gymnastics tomorrow for all 3 kids, then DD1 and I are going to see a play at the children's theater. then she has a girl scout event all day Sunday (my H is going as a chaperone) so I'll have the littles. my BIL is coming with me to their swim lessons because they each need an adult in the pool.
Tomorrow we'll head to the gym in the morning. Then we are going on a cider mill tour. There will be hard cider for the adults and regular cider for the kids. I've heard good reviews about this tour, so I think it will be fun. On Sunday, we'll get some cleaning and grocery shopping done. SIL asked us yesterday if we wanted to come to her house on Sunday to celebrate my niece's birthday. They live 3 hours away in the snowbelt, so no thank you. FIL is heading up, so I think we'll send DD along with him so she can hang out with her cousin. They'll be back late Sunday.
I expect to lay low for the rest of the weekend. My tooth is aching and my stomach is not happy with the antibiotics. I just have to get to Tuesday when I get my root canal.

Update: my car has kicked the bucket and is being towed to the shop after an hour or so of H muttering and shaking his head over it. I was enjoying being home too much so life had to show me that it is, indeed, expensive.

Spent 2.5 hours this morning at the pediatric asthma and allergy clinic for DS. Good news - his asthma is no longer an issue, he can now go off of the daily steroids. Bad news - he is still severely allergic to everything else he was allergic to before. A food challenge or immunotherapy is completely off the table because his levels are too high and would not be a good candidate. I don't know why I'm disappointed. I rather suspected that this would be the outcome; but still.
Weekend will be the usual kids activities. I think DH and I will try to sneak in a date night on Sunday night.
Friday Twerk. We go in a week for Ds growth hormone test. Dh measured him last night for reference and he has grown 1 1/2 inches since August 1. Hes now 5 1/2 inches.
Going out for drinks tonigh with friends. Going to watch the game tomorrow and then a surprise (?) birthday party after. Kids included
Sunday is our schools soup cook off fundraiser. The kids wanted me to enter my chili, but I dont think a regular chili will stand a chance. They love it. Volleyball Sunday night go figure.
rere - laughing at the idea of a 5.5 inch DS! IDK why it struck me as funny but it did! I hope they have quick answers for you. And that you share them here, because obv with DD, it’s especially interesting to me.
Got the paperwork for homebound school for DD. Sad and happy at the same time. Her pain level is at an 8. Ugh.
Saturday: gym, grocery delivery, play date here, meal prep, get together with my college friends (all the families)
Sunday: We are all going skiing. twinmomma I just got back on skis last year for the first time in 18 years. It was like riding a bike, only much easier because getting on a bike was kind of scary at first! This year we started out 3 year old on skis too! I used to be an instructor during college so I’m enjoying passing on this family memory to them.
rere, I forget, has he begun HGH treatment? Either way, yay for growth!
No. The test is to see if everything is working. It seems if everything is working 1 1/2 inches anyway. Of course that gives Dh more ammunition for the this is a waste of money comment. But if his Ped says we should go, we are going.

He asked for my help picking out his outfit. I told him he needed to confirm with his date and she disagreed with his choice of white shirt. His “shoulders are too broad” for this shirt, but all the parts it’s too tight are hidden by the vest. Wish I were a man.
