I read Hourglass, a memoir by Dani Shapiro, and loved it. So insightful about marriage and the passage of time. What I found annoying was she was always worried about money, yet lives an expensive lifestyle and can’t be bothered to plan for the future. She frames this as being plucky and artistic, when I thought of it more as privileged enough to not have to save and plan. It was a sore spot for me, but otherwise I really enjoyed her honesty about her marriage and what made it work. .
I just finished Dani Shapiro’s new one Inheritance. It was pretty fascinating. I’ve read so many of her books that it was quite a revelation for me too.
This week I finished: The Age of Miracles, Karen Thompson Walker, 4* - I enjoyed the end of the world nature of the book. The Wedding Date, Jasmine Guillory, 3* - it was fine. I did think throughout the book that if anyone touched me (in public) as much as he touched her I would hit them, this includes DH and anyone I have ever dated. Maybe it's me... Sourdough, Robin Sloane, 4* - a fun read, I tend to enjoy reading about food.
Currently reading: Once Upon A River, Diane Setterfield - started today. Educated, Tara Westover - for an IRL book club, but I keep choosing fiction books! The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson - I thought I had the hold extended, but it came in anyway, so, it is available should I get to it.
It was cold enough that my work was closed Wednesday and Thursday, I happily enjoyed the snow days warm in my house. Today it is in the 50's, mother nature is messing with us! Though it is nice that the ice is melting in my driveway and the sidewalks.
QOTW: I love most of my house, two full walls of windows in the dining room and my cozy reading spot by the fireplace are big pluses. I wish it had a big front porch, that was a "want" that didn't happen when he "needs" were met by this house.

I had never heard of her. She’s an excellent writer. I’m looking forward to Inheritance but I’m down the waiting list at the library quite a ways. It must be such a shock to find out something like that!

I’ve read her for years! Since high school or early college in the late ‘90s. They are all pretty well written. She writes for a lot of other publications too.
I got lucky with Inheritance, I suggested the library buy it so I was able to check it out as soon as it hit the shelf!
Finished: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - I'm still digesting this one. I know it was well loved and I did like it, but I didn't *love* it. And the twist at the end didn't seem to fit for me. I will hopefully write my review later this week.
The Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige - too bad this was really 3 books, but only shows as 1 on Goodreads
There's a 4th and 5th I'm debating.
Currently reading a nine book freebie, but after the first book I have the Winter Trilogy #2 and Married by Morning.
QOTW: We custom built our house, so I love it all. My favorite part is probably our outdoor patio and firepit.
