H was sick last week and is working overnights this week and I’m OVER it. I actually have a conference next Tuesday - Friday and I’m secretly so looking forward to it. Sleeping in, king size bed, and not have to do dinner, bath, and bedtime all by myself every night, yes please!
We are struggling with bedtime currently, G is just stalling every night and asking for more milk or more books or whatever. Last night I had to threaten to throw a book in the trash after he was refusing to go to sleep unless we read it for the 5th time in a row. Not my proudest mom moment, lol.
Everything looked good with my beta yesterday, it was doubling almost perfectly, so ultrasound scheduled in two weeks. I forgot how long the days feel in the very beginning.
EllenGriswold, girrrl I hear you on the stalling tactics. We've started setting a timer on our phones and when it goes off that means its time to get in his crib. So far its been working great. Enjoy your time away! Getting away from the grind/routine sounds amazing. And YAY for for a good 2nd beta!!
P slept in bed with me again last night. Aghhh. DH is out of town for work, so I stacked up a few pillows on his side. In the middle of the night, I woke up to some loud crying. VERY disoriented, I couldn't figure out what was going on and couldn't find the baby. It finally happened: He rolled off. Oops. Luckily he took the giant pillow with him (full body size) and landed right on it so he was totally fine.
Shock of the century: After a 1 hour glucose test of 153 (they look for under 135), I passed my 3 hour test. By A LOT, actually. I was more than 10 points under for every draw. I am shocked and so relieved. I was dreading watching my diet for SIX MONTHS. It was hard enough to cut carbs like that for 3 months with P.
Also, I'm glad we're not alone. My kid doesn't want to get into bed either. Eventually I just grab him and put him in his crib. He SCREAMS AND CRIES like it's the worst tragedy he's ever experienced. 2 minutes later he lays down and passes out. Silly baby.
My husband is traveling for work and this is my first time home alone with all 3 kids. I set my alarm for half an hour earlier this morning and by some miracle was able to get out the door on time. Then of course there was a bad accident blocking traffic for 20 minutes so I was still late.
I travel for work next week. It'll be my first time away from the baby and my H will get his turn to handle all the kids himself. I'm traveling for an event that is one of the better parts of my job. Anything else and I would've tried to get out of it. As it is I'm going for one day less than everyone else.
My baby is 6 months old now and we started solids this week. She LOVES it. I'm so happy because I've been really anxious about my milk supply.
A woke up from a nightmare again last night. This time spiders were apparently in her bed (last time bees). I don't know what is causing this fear of insects - we don't react to them, we try to teach her that bees are our friends that make honey, and spiders keep the garden healthy etc.
Oh, and I think H might want another baby and instead of toying with the idea, it just makes me want to shut the door on it. So I hope it's more "yeah why not?" for him and not "I really want this" because I don't know if I could give that to him. This conversation prompted by my doctor asking me if I wanted the IUD out.

We do a timer for other stuff (bath time, tv time) so I might have to try it for bedtime. Although the other day the timer went off and he says “that’s not a timer! That’s your phone!”

lol! DH and I were actually discussing last night that we know the shelf-life on this timer hop-to-it is going to be short. I'm amazed how compliant he has been (we've only been doing it for about 2 weeks), and I know soon he is going to realize that the timer yields little power and we will be back in stall city.
knx9211 , Are you doing the 12 week screen? I'm so curious whether you're having a boy or girl!
I'm glad you passed the glucose screen!
no one even offered it to me!! They did the NT screen thing but that's it. So now I have to be patient. My online chart thing says to get an anatomy scan betwee 18-20 weeks - I had mine at exactly 20 with DS, I didn't know 18 was even an option! I'm at 14 weeks now, so hopefully the next month flies by!

Aww man! I asked for mine this time. Didn't do it with DS.
knx9211, that is such a happy surprise about the glucose test! Enjoy all the food!
I'm closing in on 32 weeks and feeling very pregnant. The pressure on my lady bits and bladder is so intense already and I'm so over going to the bathroom 3x an hour. I had to stop running because my bladder just can't handle it anymore, which is a bummer because I ran until the day I went into labor last time. Grumble grumble.
Yay for passing the glucose test knx9211! I was so happy when I passed mine last week since I had it with DS. They still told me to minimize carbs and sugar, but I'm so glad to not have to prick my finger eleventy billion times a day.
Had another growth scan for baby girl today since there was a concern with my placenta at my AS. MFM said everything looks good though. No red flags on my placenta and she wouldn't even second guess anything if I didn't have my history of placental insufficiency. She's measuring small, only 15th percentile, so I'll have to go back again in 3 weeks for another growth scan to make sure she doesn't drop off more. DS was IUGR, so that's definitely a concern of mine. I guess DH and I just make small babies.

Yeah, the amount of farting around drives me nuts. For instance, she poops, so we go in the bathroom to clean up. Instead of just leaning against the toilet to get wiped, she has to bring her trains in, lay on the toilet seat, and swing her legs up and down. Dude. Just stand still so I clean you up!
A couple of days ago she pulled the cat's tail hard enough to make him screech, so I told her she hurt him (and did the sign for hurt), then taught her the sign for sorry. Tonight she signed cat, then hurt, then sorry. Don't you wish you could see inside their heads? Like, what made her think of that? I had no idea it made such an impression on her.

I’m jealous she knows so many signs! Mine only knows more, please, sorry, help, and thank you... because those are the only ones I know. He used to know water and forgot.
EllenGriswold, I had a minor surgery this week and I will not lie--other than the discomfort it has been a fucking dream. I sleep about 9 hours at night and 3-4 during the day. H and S are at work/daycare so it is just me. I AM IN HEAVEN. Enjoy yourself, lol.
S stalls for bedtime too, but not usually crying. He just keeps saying "no" when we tell him it's time for bed, then asks for more books and songs but we stick with the plan and he is almost always asleep in a minute or two with no crying. THANK GOD FOR THAT SLEEP TRAINER WE HIRED lol.
thoseareradishes, I am going to start saying "farting around." That has me hysterical for some reason, lol.
Things are ok here. Surgery was a success (see: all the sleep I am getting) but it is really hard not being able to play and pick up S. I am hoping by this weekend I can start picking him up a little, but he really misses it, and so do I. He has been holding my hand and saying "mama has ouch belly" whenever I remind him I cannot pick him up. It is very sweet.
12 weeks today - had a dr appt this morning and all looks good. The NP I saw said to come back in 6 weeks, but if that feels too long I can always request an appt for an ultrasound with her. It was really nice to hear - she also works at the clinic where we did our IUIs (before IVF) and said “I know with everything you’ve gone through you might want to check in more frequently. Just ask for an ultrasound with me and I’ll know why!”. It was just so nice - I teared up. Hormones, lol.

Glad you are recovering well shauni27! Enjoy your rest
knx9211, she uses about 30 signs, some of which she made up herself. I use babysignlanguage.com to look up signs (or I just ask our google hub thingy), and a lot of the time she remembers better than I do. I have to scroll through all her signs in my head to figure out what she's saying sometimes. Her speech teacher asked me what one of her signs was and I was like, uhhhhh no clue on that one. Turns out it was "egg", which her teacher taught her but I forgot to use at home, and E modified it.
Hi ladies, Sorry im so bad checking in. I read but then never have time to respond.
J is a little spit fire who loves to throw tantrums when he cant watch the ipad. Its exhausting. But hes also super sweet and helpful. He takes gis trash can to the big can when its full and empties it, throws things un the trash, and puts his dishes in the sink. Its adorable.
His hair grows so freaking fast we have to cut it monthly. Its driving me nuts.
I also wish my child would sleep in but hes up by 6 everyday. He does take a 2 hour nap so i guess id rather have the early wake up if it means a good nap but still.
King26, I love that they are at an age where they can help. S loves putting things in the sink and going to get things in the other room, etc. He does not love if he throws something that I make him pick it up. Always ends in a meltdown. Eyeroll.
S has his eleventy billionth cold of the season and was up just about hourly last night. I am so fucking tired.
Ugh, I'm sorry shauni27. You guys have had a tough winter with the sicknesses.
DS also loves to help, which is cute but can also be slightly annoyed because everything takes so much longer. He loves doing laundry and insists on "helping", which is fine but its hard to wrangle him and a laundry basket while super pregnant down 2 flights of stairs. He also LOVES baking muffins with me and pretty much knows the recipe now because we do it weekly. When I ask what we need for "buffies" (his word for muffins, its so cute we've just gone with it lol) he rattles off all the ingredients.

It's been warm enough to wear short here the last couple of days but E refuses. I had take her pants and socks off after we got home from outdoor playgroup (tick check, yuck), but she didn't want to put on shorts. So I put her down to nap with just a shirt and diaper, but then she requested socks. Funny kid!

DS refuses to not wear a coat. It's been in the 70s the past few days. We were running errands on Sunday and I was hot just looking at him. Every time I tried to take it off he lost his mind. Kids are weird.

You might be surprised. We've been doing the timer for almost all transitions for several months, and E sticks to it mostly. In fact, if I don't set the timer, he will call me out on it.
Got our NIPT results back yesterday and all is low risk - less than a 1% chance of all the things they test for. I wasn’t overly concerned since we did PGS on the embryo, but it’s nice to have another confirmation.
I guess the next “milestone” is the anatomy scan? In my head I’d like to wait until after that to tell anyone, but I don’t know if that’s possible.

I think we've weathered the worst of the newborn storm. It turns out that a relatively easy newborn plus a toddler is waaaaaay easier than just a colicky newborn.
The baby is 2.5 months old and very cute - smily and chatty, only gets mad when she's tired or hungry. She falls asleep fairly easily and only gets up once or twice a night.
The toddler, on the other hand, is...a handful. I'm not sure if it's just a 3-year-old stage or if she's still adjusting to having a baby around, but she's back to testing every boundary. I feel like I spend most of my time with her fighting, which isn't fun for anyone.

So how does this timer thing work? For bath time, I usually give her a couple of warnings. "Just a few more minutes." "Okay, finish up what you're playing with, we're getting out in a minute." "Okay, time to get out."
And then she basically pretends she didn't hear me. I think my system is too wishy-washy. There's not much consistency to what I consider "a minute" either, it really depends on how interesting whatever I'm reading on my phone is...
cactuscookie, I generally say something like "the timer is going off soon, so do that thing one last time/let's finish up the story/finish your milk/whatever".
