The Map of Salt and Stars by Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar. I found this one on our monthly book club voting list and, even though it didn't win, thought it looked really interesting. It's even better than I thought! An impressive mix of modern and historical in a region of the world I don't read very much about. The only thing that is bugging me is that I'm reading it on Kindle so it's hard to follow the historical adventure on the map, and I can't find a good picture of the historical map online, so I'm a bit lost from a geography perspective.
Listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for fun distraction.
QOTW:
Childe Roland ventures Stephen King inserts himself But who will survive?
I read the entire The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy this week. I don't know what made it such a compelling read for me but I couldn't put them down. Now I'm reading Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. Apparently I'm not ready to be a grown up in my reading choices yet.
I finished my reread of The Giver: 5 stars The Ladder to the Sky: 4.5. Thanks for the recommendation! The last paragraph of the book was amazing! The only reason I didn’t rate is 5 is because I found a bit of it repetitive. I would love to discuss the book more. I listened to The Gratitude Diaries: 4 stars. I don’t love audio books as I find it too easy to zone out and not listen. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep through 2 parts but I’m still counting it.
I’m currently reading Matilda with DD and reading The Other Woman by Sandie Jones.
aurora can you pull up the map from the book on the kindle app on your phone?
I guess probably, though I don't actually have the Kindle app on my phone because I strongly prefer to read on my actual Kindle. That would alleviate my issue with the difficulty going back and forth on the Kindle, though, and maybe it would be higher quality/more zoomable?

That's what I was thinking. You could look at the map on your phone while reading the book on your kindle.
I get not wanting to read on your phone. I'm not a fan of it either!

This week I read Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. A great, if weird, read.
Now I’m starting Number One Chinese Restaurant by Lillian Li. I don’t love it yet; it’s a little potboiler-y for my taste. And I was expecting more food in it (there’s non so far).
I finished Sleeping Beauties by Stephen/Owen King. Great book. Caused me a great deal of anxiety and sadness, mixed with some good hearty schadenfreude. Ended appropriately (I actually think a lot of my anxiety was because the story was so good that I was worried I'd be horribly let down at the end).

This is a fair concern with King!
Also I realize it's been a very long time since I read
Got quite a few finished since it's spring break and I took the week off.
Mister Romance - Prime freebie: Cute book, decent storyline Duke by Default - meh, not sure how it ended up on my TBR list Tumble - Prime freebie: high school sweetheart book. The end was decent. Then She Was Gone - awful, again, no clue how it ended up on my TBR list. I finished it and was like "WTF did I just read and how did this woman get a writing deal?" It was the oddest book with an even weirder storyline. I kept waiting for the main character to wake up, because it seemed like a bad dream she was stuck in.
Currently reading: Hudson (Book 4), not far enough along, but I got hooked when I read the trilogy.
I read A Man Called Ove, and I loved it. Some of the lines in there just GOT me and I was all choked up.
I just ordered two books from Book of the Month, got an ARC in the mail just from submitting my email address to get one, and got five books from the library. And I’m three books behind on my Books of the Month. My goal is to make this a big reading week!
I'm about 3/4 of the way through Becoming and I love it so much while it makes me miss like hell the last administration. I identify so strongly with Michelle. I'm also rereading Good Omens just because.
Witches Daemons Vamps Which one will find the book first Creature origins
