Hi! I haven’t posted here before, but I’m on the South Shore. What about Thompson Island? Cook out, volleyball, kickball, etc. Not too active, but active enough?? Though some people don’t like being trapped on an island....
So depending how far out of the city you want to go, check out these places: - culinaryunderground.com/- your group may be too big. - boundlessadventures.net/ma-park/ - Teamworks will also customize an afternoon at their facility. - We did a scavenger hunt in the city and had dinner at the Hard Rock after. It was fun because we got to walk around Fanueil Hall and compete with other teams.

RockNVoll, Thomspson Island does have event staff to help plan. It's pretty expensive, though - I took a look at the budget from one of our programs that does a lobsterbake out there, and they've got it budgeted at $115/pp. I think that includes the boat and some additional fees, but I'm not sure if it includes alcohol. (My guess is 2 drinks/person at most.) Also, as someone who has spent some quality time on that island thanks to a zillion trips to Outward Bound, it sucks if it rains. There's a pavilion, but that's it, and I'm not sure if they'd let you use the cafeteria/gym if you're not part of the OB group. But even so, it's a school cafeteria and a school gym, sooooo...
We have forced fun every year with a group of 40+ of varying ages/physical conditions, so here's what I remember: a chocolate truffle making class followed by lunch at the Elephant & Castle (we used their basement room for the class), the Charles Riverboat Cruise (twice), paint and sip w/lunch at the Hong Kong, tour of Fenway & a scavenger hunt in the area with lunch at Game On, scavenger hunt at the Museum of Science, F1 racing in Braintree, and a couple of bowling ones. We had a walking tour of Harvard one year, but no one wants that. (Including us! haha.)
We also did cooking classes/lunch at Taranta two years in a row because everyone liked it so much. One year, we did a walking tour in the north end as part of it, and the other year we did a scavenger hunt, I think.

Holy shit, that's expensive! And the rain point is a good one. I don't want to be the person with a rep for planning soggy, miserable events. I'm also giggling that you had an event with lunch at the Kong. To me, that place will forever be associated with horrible scorpion bowls for stupid college kids, LOL! Thanks for all the suggestions though, and I'll definitely look at Taranta.
I’m with you on the Hong Kong. I may have gotten horribly ill there once.
