jade, sorry things with DH are rough. Pregnancy is hard.
EllieT, I wasn't told to start doing kick counts until 28 weeks or so, and even then only on days when he was pretty quiet all day. I think I've only needed to do them 2 or 3 times total because I have a crazy active one.
Where are you travelling in Canada @elliet? No one ever comes to Ottawa but I figured I would ask if you’re here for three weeks!
I wish I was coming to Ottawa and it’s definitely something we will do one of these times (DH’s entire family on his dad’s side are either in Ottawa or Toronto and DH was actually born there) but it never seems to be the right time for one or another reason. If I hadn’t gotten pregnant when I did we would have gone to Toronto for a cousin’s wedding and then we for sure would have gone to Ottawa (and probably the family cottage on Papineau Lake) but I will be a few weeks too far along in the pregnancy.
We’re going to Vancouver to DH’s parents and to see his brother and DS cousins. I love Vancouver but after 15 trips there it would be nice to see another part of Canada. Maybe next time
Hugs to everyone for whom Mother's Day is hard. It's hard for me in the opposite generational direction; I lost my mom on 4/25/16, her funeral was shortly before my first MD as a mom (of an outside baby), and the bittersweetness is real.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
C-section scheduled with my second choice doctor for 6/3 at noon, though the scheduler is checking with my first choice doctor and the hospital to see if an early morning c section is available sometime that week--he's definitely not available that Friday, so the latest I'll be having this baby is 6/6!
3. Questions for the group?
Not right now.
4. Do you have Mother's Day plans?
I know we'll be getting together with the ILs for dinner, and that's all I know at this point.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Told my job today, I travel a lot for work, but I'm on restricted travel and I really needed them to know. Everyone was super supportive and understanding knowing about our loss last year. so that was a relief.
3. Questions for the group? none right now
4. Do you have Mother's Day plans? will see my mom for lunch, nothing for me,
3. Questions for the group? STM+, are you getting a present for your older kid(s) or doing anything special for them when baby comes? I need ideas!
Dh and I have definitely agreed that we're getting her a present from her baby brother, and both of us have picked up a couple options--Mickey Mouse Clubhouse set and a Daniel Tiger coloring book, but we'll see where we actually land.
1. 29w5d, STM 2. Just came from my growth u/s and girlfriend is looking great! Plus we got some nice shots of her face. 3. Nope! 4. My husband is working (to be expected-he's a restaurant GM) so AJ and I have a birthday party and I think we'll go to the gym after so I can get a pedi at the spa and he can go to child care. Hopefully I'll get a run in before J leaves for work!

The Highlands area lakes are beautiful! I love having access to cottage country here. Enjoy your trip and I hope the travel goes smoothly for you and you have lovely weather.
Nice! We were driving over there quite a bit since my MFM is located in Springfield. My appointments seemed to always end up on a day where the pass was getting a decent amount of snow.
I'm a bit jealous -- I'm not a huge fan of deserts, I much prefer the climate over there.

I would totally trade! I love your weather. I'm so sick of the gray, rainy days.
I just got back from Dr. apt and our ultrasound tech said he's dropping already (she's been our same tech for several apts). Everything else looks good but they can't measure my cervix because my placenta and his head is in the way. Is this a normal time for baby to start dropping?

My older son was low for 3 weeks, no joke. If his head is down there already you are more likely to not even need an induction. And don’t worry, if he was low enough for imminent labor the dr would tell you.
I have no clue about mother’s day. Dh better plan on doing all the childcare that day and cooking.
My question- has anyone else completely lost their patience? My poor kids. I have no patience for their crap and my four year old has been testing me lately!

I had my 24 week check up today. All is looking great. She was like your belly seems big (to who? I think I’m still pretty small lol) but also seems normal with a short torso (I’m barely 5’2). She said it’s high but narrow. I got my requisition for glucose test so will do that next week after my vacation just in case.
His face is so cute. We got some great u/s pictures and he was trying to hide his face. He weighs 720g and legs are still so long at 78% (based on the Dutch average!!!).
He flipped yesterday so is now head down and his stomach is under my belly button.
Next appointment is June 3. I’ll have to do blood work, check growth, check RH antibodies and probably get my rhogam shot. I also get a 4D u/s!
1. 35 weeks 2. We had jam packed weekend with taking the kids into the city Saturday for a full day and a going to a huge friends/family party yesterday. I was beat and my feet were swelling slightly by the end of the weekend. I am very happy DS1's swim got cancelled today. I'll be picking him up from school in a bit and then I'm letting the kids watch a movie on a school night and I'll be in my PJ's for the rest of the day. Just this past week I've started to feel uncomfortable. Giant belly, tired, congested, sore.... My weekly appointments and NSTs have started so I hope we can finalize an induction date at my next appointment. OB said I'm going no later June 7 so I kind of know but it would be nice to have an exact date. 3. 4. My mother will be out of town at my sisters which I'm secretly glad for this year. I just don't have it in me to do something and if she were home I would have felt tremendous guilt because she helps me out with the kids all.the.time. DH usually makes mothers day pleasant - as long as I don't have to cook any meals and can rest I'll be happy.

Yes, this was me about two weeks ago. Now, I've just surrendered. You want ice cream for breakfast? Fine. Another show? Sure. Don't feel like wearing clothes? Ok, but at least wear underwear.

I think we had/have the same MFM. I went to the office in Springfield, too.
It's 85 degrees out. TOO HOT! It's supposed to be warmer this weekend. H got the pool ready, but I'm not sure my current center of gravity will allow me to climb in or out of the pool.
I also need a new summertime routine that involves outside time earlier in the day, I think.
jade - I'm sorry things are in a rough patch. I hope it gets better soon.
1. How far along are you this week?
13+5
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
We had our second ultrasound last week - it was crazy to me just how much she grew in 4 weeks, and that we could see her fully developed spine! I'll be telling work at 15 weeks but have started to get a bump as of yesterday so hopefully it goes unnoticed until then. I'm training for a half marathon in a month and am definitely feeling the pregnancy when running this week!
3. Questions for the group? None
4. Do you have Mother's Day plans? We are having my husband's side of the family over for brunch, and will be telling them we're expecting! We have been trying to tell everyone in person when we can, and that's the last group. I'm looking forward to both seeing their reactions, and letting the cat out of the bag with work and other friends too!

1. How far along are you this week? 14+6
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Nothing too exciting this week.
3. Questions for the group? How early did you look at day cares? What kinda of things were important to you as you looked at places?
4. Do you have Mother's Day plans? I’m taking my mom to brunch and maybe we’ll go shopping or something. I’m not sure if DH has anything planned or not, we haven’t really talked about if we’re doing anything for each other since baby isn’t here yet.
3. Questions for the group? How early did you look at day cares? What kinda of things were important to you as you looked at places?
I started looking immediately, but daycare wait lists are insane here. I put a deposit down at 7 weeks pregnant.
Honestly, my most important factors were location convenience and cost. I knew I wanted a center vs. a home daycare since they are subject to stricter standards and regulations, but at >$3k a month, the Bright Horizons/Kindercares in our area were out of budget. So biggest considerations were:
1. location: we needed some place walkable or convenient to public transportation 2. cost 3. hours: we needed a center that was open by 7am, which was surprisingly difficult to find. also many centers charge more for a day over 8 or 9 hours, but don't readily publish that. i'd ask (at my center its an extra $25 a week to stay longer than 9 hours) 4. closures/holidays and vacation policy: some centers were closed a ridiculous amount (that you were still expected to pay for) 5. ratios 6. do they provide food? what kind? how do they deal with food allergies? 7. how often do the kids get outside? 8. how do you communicate with parents? (digital app, written daily sheet, website, etc) 9. what is teacher turnover like?
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? have an OB appt tomorrow morning, hope thing are looking well. we will tell DS the sex tomorrow night i think, then post everything to fbook at the same time (1st announcement plus sex). i've been feeling kinda off all week, weird stomach issues and such. i'm hungry but get full after like three bites. i think it's just how things are arranged right now, and as i get more of a bump then my organs will shift and make things better, at least i hope that's the case. i remember feeling weird like this last time too right around weeks 12-16, so i'm hoping it will resolve itself soon.
3. Questions for the group? not right now!
4. Do you have Mother's Day plans? DH usually plans a nice day trip for us. so, we are waiting on the weather forecast to even out to see if we will do it on saturday or sunday.
