C turned into such a bad pooper. He went from newborn poops to super constipated. We had to give him suppositories on multiple occasions because he wouldn't go for a week plus. Thankfully he eventually figured it out. Still has issues but no intervention needed.
Ugh I have to ask my pedi about this. I feel SO BAD for P. He'll be sitting there pushing SO HARD and nothing happens. Or he'll get the tiniest little thing out. And then (often in the tub when he's relaxed), he'll shit a MAN SIZED TURD and cry SO HARD because it hurts to get out. I feel so terrible for him. I've been trying to get extra fiber, fruit, etc. in him and it doesn't seem to be working.
Watermelon is a our go-to when he starts to get backed up!
clseale, We're in the process of buying a second crib with a conversion kit. My gut just tells me that DS isn't ready for a big bed and he'll never stay in it. He'll be around 27 months when the baby arrives.
mbcdefg, I always look and go "Hey that seems like maybe we shouldn't do that...." every time I bathe DS. He loves the water. He loves the running water. So in addition to being dicks for letting the water run forever, our kid also bathes in a bathtub with water up to his shoulders. Oops.

E1 gets watered down juice most days, and I'll put half a capful of miralax in it when he gets backed up. With his pedi's blessing. And every time he has a really hard time pooping, he and I talk about how much it hurt, and he needs to eat more fruit and drink more water and less milk. I'm hoping that eventually these talks will stick so he'll stop fighting me on fruit and milk.
I’m starting to look into getting our 2 kids iPads. They’re in elementary. Neither H nor I have had an iPad and I’m so overwhelmed.
I’ve read a ton of threads on slickdeals where people debate the different models vs price and I just am hoping someone can recommend a specific model to me. Money is somewhat of a factor. Can I keep it under $400 each? With 2 kids it’s just SO expensive.
We have a variety of iPads (long story) and got this one for DD to use. Get the 128gb with wifi. It's $429. We got it on sale for less than that around Christmas so keep an eye out for sales.
ETA: Also look for any refurbished iPads that are a year or two old on the apple store website. Just be sure to get one with at least 128gb of memory. 32gb will be too little for the games/apps/movies you'll probably want to load on it.

My kid drinks his body weight in water every day. It’s insane. But he’s been refusing to eat his fruit lately so that’s not working. I need to get it in him so we make smoothies but he still doesn’t have much.

clseale, we recently switched E (26 months) and it's going better than I expected. She fell out of her crib head first (I caught her thankfully) so we immediately bought a toddler bed. I think she was mostly okay with it because she watched H put it together, and it still had her mattress, sheet, and blankets. She has nothing in her room except her bed and a chair, and she has always slept with the door closed. She does, however, fall out of it several times a week, and I have to go in and tell her to get back in bed and put her blanket back over her.
When did you stop using those indoor play pens to contain your babies?
We just spent $$$ on one and I need someone to tell me it will last us more than two months. He’s crawling everywhere and can stand and really good with his hands (unthreaded a doorstop from its anchor in the wall this week). The little lock probably won’t make it through summer, huh? 😬

we had two and once we didn't have him contained we broke it into pieces so we could use it instead to cordon off certain areas of the house. S is now 22 months and we still have one section of it being used, though I think we can probably get rid of it.

If I needed E1 contained, I used the pack n play. Otherwise, we didn't use a play pen, and instead just gated off where we didn't want him to go.
At our old house, we converted the dining room into a playroom for him, and that's where he spent most of his time. It will be a little trickier now with E2, since E1 has a bunch of little toys.
I’m glad to read we might get some mileage out of it!
pooh8402 my kid hates the PNP and his high chair so I haven’t had a great way to contain him. I just use the PNP when absolutely necessary since he screams 95% of the time. We also converted a first floor bedroom into a playroom but he’s into everything - pulling off door stops, attempting to remove outlet covers, climbing up the walls and the doors then bashing his head, so I couldn’t leave him for even a minute. He’s definitely the most active, mobile and least fearless in his playgroup 😬
So far we’ve had our playpen one day and it’s a game changer. I got to wash breakfast dishes and mop the entire first floor while my baby happily played. That hasn’t happened, ever.
mbcdefg, we switched from sink to shallow bath when she could sit well, around 6 months. We added a non slip mat sometime after that as she was crawling around too much.
I feel like a real dummy asking this, but how do you all bathe your toddlers in a regular bathtub? We still use that blue tub in our kitchen sink for DD ... even though she's almost 2 she's petite so she fits. But she keeps splashing around and turning on the faucet so I think it's way past time to phase out of the blue baby tub.
Do you just draw a regular shallow bath and pop them in? Put a larger toddler tub inside your regular tub?
Sometimes I just take her in the shower with me - MH will come get her and wrap her in the towel when she's done so I can finish showering - but our bathing times don't always sync up like that.
We used a bath seat like this for both kids once they could sit up well. We never bathed either of our kids in the sink and got rid of the blue tub once they could sit up well.
I just recently stopped using it for DS2 who turned 2 earlier this month. She may not need anything. We just keep a close eye on them when they're in the tub. DS2 has had a couple of slips since we got rid of the seat, but it hasn't been a big deal. He gets a little spooked and realizes we're right about telling him not to be a maniac in the bathtub.
Here's another question ... my DD (2) is Flower Girl in my brother's (black tie) wedding next month. I'm doing a reading at the church. I recently bought my dress and I'm looking online for a small evening clutch purse for myself.
Should I even bother with a clutch, though, since I'll have to have my usual purse full of stuff for DD? Snacks, tissues to wipe her perpetually snotty nose, small toys to keep her occupied, pacifier if she really gets cranky, etc.? I know I could just put it all in a plain tote and get MH to carry it but still.
This silver Coach bag is my "fanciest" purse so I could put it all in that without it looking too out of place at a fancy wedding. Should I bother looking for anything else, and if so any suggestions?

I wouldn't bother with a clutch since you'll have your DD. The bag itself will be stashed somewhere and you won't be carrying it all that much. That Coach would be nice. If I were in that situation, I would likely carry whatever bag I usually carry for my kid.

Thanks! My regular purses are all cruddy (partially because of DD, and also because I myself am a slob lol) so I was just concerned about looking like a mess carrying around my normal purse. I actually remembered the Coach as I was typing the question. It's my "fancy purse" so I keep it put away in the dust bag and only pull it out once in a while, never for everyday use. I'm currently using a green Longchamp that's really seen better days.
mbcdefg, my friend's daughter just wore that dress to her senior prom and I was obsessed with it. I love love love it.
I personally would do a small clutch for personal things for you (lipgloss, ID, tissues) and then also the giant toddler bag, lol. One I could hide and stash and the other I would keep handy.

Thanks! I like it too. I may have to get a new plunge-style bra because of the deep V neckline, though.
And it has pockets! Which I didn't notice when I was trying it on in the store but saw in the stock image when I was showing someone later, lol.

Pockets!! That’s like the perfect dress then!
I’d probably skip the clutch since you will have to also wrangle C and if she’s anything like BB, being around that many people pretty much guarantees that I will be holding her. The Coach bag you posted is perfect.

Yup, I’m sure the entire day is going to be “Mama, up?” because she’ll get stage fright being around nobody she knows.
So now my next challenge will be getting her down the aisle. Lolol
clseale We moved so DD was about 2.5 when she moved from a crib straight to a bed cold turkey (sold her crib since it couldn't come with us). She loved the bed and now at 3 keeps says "there's room, you can sleep here".
mbcdefg I drew a regular shallow bath for DD. She grew really fast and didn't fit in things for long. Prior, I used the baby/toddler bath inside the tub so she could splash/play.
