We've heard Day 5 and Day 6 updates on our embryos. They biopsied and froze one embryo yesterday and one more today. Two more are at blastocyst stage, but are not grading high enough yet to be biopsied or frozen. The last four embryos are hanging around but are still at the multi cell stage and will not catch up. The embryologist said they would check on the embryos one last time tomorrow and would proceed with them if they meet the clinic's grading standards, but cautioned me that they freeze very few embryos on Day 7.
I'm a little nervous with only two embryos, but I'm hopeful that these were the best of the bunch and that they can pass PGS testing as euploids. There's still a small chance we'll get one or two more tomorrow, but I'm trying to stay hopeful that these two embryos will work out for us.

Congrats on two embryos so far! I am so hopeful that one or both of them turns back euploid, and also that you maybe get some day 7 stragglers. I have a friend who had a day 7 euploid turn into a successful pregnancy so as long as the morphology is ok it can be possible even if the rates of live birth are a little lower.
I got a message today that my Dr is leaving the center. So I had to be pick a new one. Just waiting for my period to start. Hopefully hysteroscopy next week.
Nothing much on my end. I had my lap/hysteroscopy back on May 6 and for the first time in I can't remember I feel like a period is actually starting which is a rarity. I have PCOS so it never comes on it's own without meds. Either it never comes or I spot for a month straight. We're still targeting early July for final transfer. I'm not optimistic it's going to stick so we'll probably do another ER first.

What were the final results of the hysteroscopy? Anything they might affect your transfer?

I had a laprascopy with it. When we were doing the 2nd monitoring for FET they found a lot of fluid buildup I cancelled and had lap. The same fluid was there for FET1 which failed but it wasn't as much.
Hysteroscopy was fine, but the lap showed I had silent endo. This was a shock to me since it was never suspected, no symptoms etc. My OB did the surgery and he was surprised as well. They ended up cautercizing the spots (6 of them) and then they removed the fluid buildup in the uterus and did another HSG. My tubes were open prior to this. I'm glad I had it done even if my wallet isn't.

Thank you. We found out today that the final count is two frozen blastocysts and we'll find out results of the PGS testing in about a week. I'm trying really hard to remain hopeful that we'll get back good news on those two embryos, but it's so hard to remain positive for yourself while going through all these steps. I'm going to rally and use the recent successes of so many women on here to keep myself focused that we can have good results too. We've got two embryos to test, and I'm very grateful to have gotten this far.

I’m sorry the results weren’t quite what you hoped. I am so pulling for you to get at least one normal embryo from this cycle. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. It’s always so much easier to have unbridled hope for someone else, I know that feeling so well. ❤️
This may not be the place to ask, but I'm curious what doctor/patient communication at the end of the infertility road looks like for others. I'm trying to figure out if my doctor is telling me that we're done, but afraid to say it, or if she thinks that we still have a (very slim) chance.
We've been TTC our second since September 2017 - my levels are close to menopausal, but no one has come out and said it. We've tried injections and Clomid, and my ovaries just aren't producing follicles. When I saw the doctor yesterday, her recommendation was to start cycling estrogen and progesterone; basically hormone replacement. I'm supposed to do estrogen for now, and the first through tenth of each month add progesterone, then stop both and restart the estrogen on day 1 of my cycle. She said people have ovulated and gotten pregnant doing this, and that she's willing to monitor me if I want, but she also brought up the idea of using donor eggs.
So - any experience with this treatment? I'll definitely try to have more of a conversation with her as well.

We briefly touched on donor eggs at my last appointment. We aren’t quite there yet. But it is really fascinating and an option for many people.

In the middle of the two week wait. Hormone levels looked great today, but they always do. Had to push back the HCG labs a day due to a work meeting, so that’s fun. Just a week to go until we find out if this last transfer works. Fingers crossed.

So many fingers crossed for you. I know the pressure a last transfer brings.

Thanks. Nice to be able to have someone who is going through the same thing
How are you feeling by the way, been keeping everything crossed for you as well.

joenali, I don't go here anymore, but I did a similar protocol for my first IVF cycle. For me, the Lupron over suppressed my system and after about 10 days on stims with upping doses, I never developed good follicles and my retrieval was cancelled. I do know this protocol has worked well for other people, so my story isn't typical, but I just wanted to throw that out there...good luck to you!
I just got my instructions for this next cycle. Has anyone done something similar? How was it?
This is a pretty standard IVF cycle, and basically what I did with my first 2. The first time it worked well, and we were successful, but I hyper stimulated and got OHSS. The second time (with a different doctor because we moved), we farted around with the med dosages in an effort to prevent OHSS, and it wasn't successful. The third time (with yet a different doctor because I lost confidence), we tweaked the protocol a bit and had success and avoided OHSS.
It’s a lot different than my last one. That’s why i asked.
It looks way different than what my protocol was, but maybe they're trying out a more aggressive approach to get a more successful outcome than last time. It looks like you'll be doing menopur and gonal f at once, so maybe it will mean fewer injections? Every time I see outcomes discussed online, it seems like there are better results with more cycles because they have better data on what does and doesn't work for each person. So I'm hopeful this is the right protocol for you!
There are still a few identifying details in your document though, so you might want to delete it in a little while.

Thanks! I didn’t catch that! I did gonal f and menopur last time and sadly it was still two injections.

Someone on here was advised by their doc to put the gonal-f in with the menopur so they only had one shot. Anyone want to speak to that? Although, menopur burned so much more, so I’d want a shorter shot.
The Gonal-F is the easiest shot, though. If you have it in the pen form, which I think most people do, you just turn the dial to your needed dose, jam on this tiny little needle, and you're pretty much done. It's the thinnest needle and most inconsequential injection. I wish they were all that easy. Now, if you are needle-phobic and need to reduce the number of needles in general for your own mental health, I totally get that. (Also, I was on 375 units of gonal-f, which doesn't divide in 900 - the max amount in the pen - evenly, so there were days I had to do 2 gonal-F shots, as well as my menopur, human growth hormone, and sometimes microdose lupron.)
Went in for my day 3 work up, my AFC was only a 10 (usually between 14-18). I wonder if it being day makes any difference since the other ones were done typically between days 3-5. Waiting for my doctor to look the bloodwork and ultrasound. If I get the go ahead we start injections tonight. I emailed my RE and asked if he thinks it’s better that we prime this month or just cancel instead of going ahead. Man, I had a feeling I would have a shitty afc. When we checked it back in March or April it was 18 and now 10. The cycle was had cancelled it was 9 so we will see.
I found out that our two embryos both came back euploid!!!! I'm so relieved!!!
My husband wanted to find out the sex of the embryos, and I did not, so I compromised and asked if they were both the same or different. We have one male and one female embryo both waiting on ice for transfer. We can have more discussions about whether to find out which one is transferred when the time comes.
We leave in two weeks to go to on vacation to a region that has had zika in the past (which was booked and paid for before we decided to start ivf), which means the fertility clinic will not move forward with any more treatment until three months after we return. We are going to take the summer to rest and refocus and attempt a transfer in the fall.

I’m a little stressed about ohss. I was in so much pain the day of my retrieval I could barely walk.

The key difference in my last cycle that prevented OHSS was Femara for 5 days at the beginning of stims. It was amazing. I felt good the whole cycle (except for the 3 days right after retrieval). My estradiol was over 4000, we did a half dose hcg trigger, we retrieved 25 eggs, and still did a fresh transfer. And I didn't get OHSS like I did the first time. Amazing. I was convinced it didn't work because of the lack of OHSS symptoms.
I was also on a paleo diet starting a month and a half earlier.
