I don't think June could have gotten away with lying about knowing Luke. Gilead already knows about her marriage. I figured it was a test for her, not a real confirmation if his identity.
Exactly. They have files about her past and all the other women too.
I could not tell if Emily's wife was in a relationship. Did anyone else catch that? When she was talking about their son being dropped off, I thought maybe she said something about another person, but I rewound it and still couldn't quite tell what she was saying.
I don't think her wife is in a new relationship. The person she was talking about was Oliver's teacher.
There was a part where I could have sworn she said "Pete." It was when she was talking about deciding whether or not to send him to school that day. But I think I just kept mishearing it.

And Luke confronted Fred and Serena when they were in Canada. He had a picture with June and Hannah in it, so Fred for sure knew who he was.
Still, I was cringing when she confirmed who he was.

The latest episode...the interaction between June and Serena was freaking fantastic. When June took a drag off the cigarette, I was all, pass that shit this way!
I’m curious as to where they’re going with this, someone up thread mentioned international incident. I’m picturing stealthy assholes sneaking into Canada and grabbing Luke.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”

God, the lack of empathy she has is truly stunning. How is it that she cannot comprehend how June feels for Hannah when she feels this way about Nichole? And seriously just fuck her for going through with this. Fuck.
Also, is it bizarre to anyone else that they had Serena fly to Canada in a hollowed out commercial plane? That was so strange.

That was a great episode and playing Sunday Bloody Sunday at the end was perfection. I get annoyed about all the long close-ups of Elizabeth but that was perfect.
The good thing going for June and Luke is that it is June's biological child and Canada has no extradition treaty with Gilead. I can't imagine Canada sending her back knowing the history and what Gilead could really do to fuck them over....but I am assuming that is where it is heading.
I think I was right about Mrs. Lawrence and have a feeling she will play a big part at the end of this season.
Also, how did Luke get that tape? Did Serena leave it on the floor? What did that note say on the plane? I fucking hate all flat screen tvs. It is impossible to watch anything dark as the TV is in the sunroom....very first world problems, I know, lol.

I'm very intrigued to see how the season unfolds with Mrs. Lawrence.
I think Serena forgot about the package for Luke and gave it to the Canadian guy (can't remember his name) after she changed and was walked back to her plane. Inside her purse was a mobile radio and the note said "If you need me..." or something like that. Clearly a reminder from him that he will do what he can to get her out if she so chooses.

YES. I totally think the Canadian guy is gonna come into play with Serena.
Completely agree that she’s gotta have some type of hollowed-our heart re: the June/ Hannah relationship when she feels that way about her non-biological daughter with whom she merely spent weeks (months?). I understand that she’s certainly accepted Gilead, as the prominent wife of a prominent Commander; nonetheless, that last episode really played us, pulling at heartstrings when she shared her cig & gave the location of Hannah’s school. I think part of the brilliance of this show is in the display of human betrayal in looking out for one’s own self-interest. So realistic despite (or because of?) the utter cruelty.

I am hoping Serena has some type of play and that the show is just purposely throwing us off. I guess we will see.

I don’t think Nick is going to be able to tell people Waterford isn’t Nichole’s dad because it could put June in danger. I thought Serena probably put the package with the clothes they made her wear when she was changing.
I wanted to scream when Nick let Serena hold her! No, no, no!
I missed whatever happened with Lawrence’s wife... I didn’t get the ending with the two of them. Could someone please fill me in on that?

I started to doubt for a second if Serena gave him the package from June rather than the gift for Nichole since she just passed him one item, but I'm guessing that I missed something there. Fuck her.

She went with two bags, but I only remember seeing one (the purse with the phone and the note) on the flight home. I assumed she left the second bag with the photos and the package for Luke with the guy.

I'm assuming you mean Luke, not Nick.
As for Lawrence's wife, June counseled her that sometimes you can/have to accept a small sliver of a person as they used to be even though they've turned into someone you don't like. Lawrence's wife had told June that Lawrence used to make her mixed tapes. June went down to the basement and found them and recorded over one to get the message to Luke. At the end, Lawrence and his wife were clearly listening to one of those mixed tapes and kind of having a moment, probably reminiscing a bit.

It gave me an error message a few times around 6 and then I was able to watch. I tried to watch the u boat show later and couldn't get much to load. I assume it was a u boat show based on name and slight description, I couldn't actually watch it.
I tried around 7 and it wouldn’t load. Other Hulu shows played fine.

Was the actor who played the agent who offered to get Serena out last season the same actor as last night?
I did not recognize him at all, until he said the line about "coconuts and treason," then I was like "wait, that was you?"
I cannot figure out what Serena's long game is here. She knows Nicole's life..every woman's life is better in Canada and actually she is right, she was at the very least complicit in her escape and she raised her voice for change in Gilead and lost a finger for it.
She needs to remember to good of the whole balanced against her own pain. If there is something the show does show..and it does it with Serenas character often is that tension and push and pull.

He is definitely the same guy.
I won't even pretend to understand Serena's character or what she's doing here. The producers have done an incredible job of displaying this complex person with many different facets, desires, and issues. Yvonne Strahovski did an interview where she talked about the complexity of her character. Since reading that, I just can't even pretend to know what she's doing. I feel like I just have to live for the moment with her.
