Should I do anything before my class next Thursday? Change my diet in anyway? They called in my monitor to the pharmacy, but I won't learn how to use it for a week. Just KOKO? Cut out sweets and carbs? Cry?

I have GD too. How were your numbers? Diet can really help control it, especially if it wasn’t super over. My body just couldn’t handle the glucose drink but has been fine with my diet thus far.
I felt a similar way. It was like ok you figured out the thyroid problem and then I got GD the week after. I also have placenta previa.
ETA: my midwife has said that it’s really not a big deal and hasn’t indicated any changes/issues in the birth plan. I know the US tends to be over-cautious but perhaps that helps alleviate worries?
I had GD with my first pregnancy and take the 1 hr next week. I'm honestly expecting to fail and have it again this time. I've been eating low carb but somehow still get slightly elevated numbers, even when I've been eating what I thought was enough protien to balance the carbs. So I'm sure after the pure sugar drink I'll be right there with you. Genetics, man.

Do you want me to share stuff my nutritionist gave me until you have your class? She said don’t cut carbs but focus more on slow carbs rather than fast carbs.
I tested for 2 weeks and then saw my nutritionist who reviewed my numbers. Do you have to wait for the class before beginning to test?

I passed the fasting and 1 hour, but failed 2 hour (I was 189 and they wanted 155 or less) and 3 hour (I was 163 and they wanted 140 or less).
Bodies are so weird. Sorry about the placenta previa. That stinks.
As for the eating until your appt, it's up to you. Basically you'll need to lower your carbs and balance it out with protien. So depending on your diet, it might be easy or hard. I found it overwhelming when I was first diagnosed last time, but slowly got the hang of it.

That would be great!! I guess I don't have to wait for the class to start testing. I just don't really know what I'm looking for. The class is supposed to teach me what to eat and then how to use the monitor. After that my OB monitors everything in office from looking at my log.

That's what I figured. I can do that. Except most proteins sound gross to me right now. Blah.

I’m hoping it clears up and will find out in a few weeks.
I was told anything over 11 (so 200) is when they get concerned and see an impact.
dreamcrisp1 I had placenta previa with DS2 and it corrected and I had a vaginal delivery
icedcoffee My GD was diagnosed at 24 weeks so I put on very little weight. Lots of protein - eggs, cheese, chili, meat... I’m two weeks out and the silver lining is I’m at pre-pregnancy weight already. I think around week 30 I had to go on evening dose of insulin because while I could control my numbers during the day with diet, my fasting numbers were too high. Because of past delivery, GD and my age I was always going to be induced early.
Always pair your carbs with protein. That kept my numbers down.

Ugh, I'm sorry, that sucks!! I am terrified of getting GD just because I'm already overweight and pre-weight loss I was borderline pre-diabetic and I have PCOS with insulin resistance. Because of my weight loss surgery, I probably won't have to do the drink, but they'll have my check my sugars at specific times for a few days. I'm hoping this works in my favor!
I’m going to be doing my GD test in a couple of weeks. I have a bad feeling about this pregnancy. Sorry for all those who are adapting to GD.
I have not slept more than 5 hours of heavily broken sleep in the past two nights despite being in bed for over 8 hours each night. DH is out of town on business and DD has had a couple of brutal night terrors. I’ve had indigestion in the middle of the night both nights, baby has been kicking like a horse, and the neighbour’s beater car’s alarm went off from 2-2:35 last night. I could hear them trying to get it to stop. Just rip the alarm out of the dash.
I also am stuck sleeping on my side at this point and I hate it when my ears get sore. I need a pillow with an ear hole. I have a new soft pillow so this shouldn’t be a problem, but I feel like I’m going nuts when I’m on hour 3 of lying in bed.

icedcoffee, I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed right now. One step at a time and you'll get through this!
I take my GD test next week and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm not usually a breakfast person, but since being pregnant I totally am and by time I get out of there, I can only imagine how hungry I'll be, not to mention all the stories I've heard about it making people feel sick after drinking it.
I'm so not ready for summer! I took my dog on a walk this morning at 7 and it was already so hot. I'm not looking forward to July/August.
I'm still in the hospital waiting for surgery to get a nephrostomy tube. I'm really sad that the last few weeks I have with DS before DD gets here are going to be spent uncomfortable and in pain (because I still have to wait for this kidney stone to pass) instead of enjoying our last bit of time as a family of 3. And my parents are now going to be coming next week to help take care of DS instead of right before DD gets here, so it will be a very full house for a while. We were really trying to avoid this, but I'm grateful they're coming to help take care of DS while I need to rest. I have no idea how involved I will be able to be with him over the next few weeks. And I miss him so much. I haven't seen him since Wednesday night.
Oh, and a Foley catheter when you're not numb really fucking sucks.

I’m at my 11 week appointment now and the dr couldn’t find the heartbeat, so I went to sono. Luckily they saw it there. Ugh I’ve been so nervous anyway and was terrified.
However- I’ve only gained 5 lbs so far! Way less than I was expecting, considering i went straight from strict whole30 into pregnancy and the only things I could stomach and have been living on were crackers, various carbs, and ice cream. Luckily I am feeling a lot better the last week or so & can get back into better eating. Maybe.
farfalla2011, the test wasn't so bad. Mostly I was just bored. Thankfully the lab had an extra spare bed so I just laid down. I brought PB on wheat bread to eat when we finished.
kellikans,I'm sorry that sounds so miserable. I hope you heal quickly.
humpforfree, that is so scary!! I'm glad they found it by sono.

So I’m just gonna put this out there because I’m nervous. I posted that I got a BFP 10 days ago. Unsure of my weeks because I was on the pill.
Today was my ultrasound. There are 2 possibilities. There’s a possibility of ectopic or that it’s very early like barely 5 weeks with questionable sac. I’m waiting on my hormone BHCG level and will have one drawn on Monday again to see the trend. My Ob isn’t super sure and told me not to worry too much at this point because it may be very early. (I did have a negative home test a week prior when I felt oddly nauseated. It was an old test though from when I was ttc dd). If anyone has any prior experience with early ultrasound or can just offer some good vibes, please do. I’ll update after Monday.
Well, I am still pregnant and I fell on my walk this morning. Tripped on the sidewalk. My knee and elbow are all banged up, but since I landed on my side baby seems fine. Doc says just to monitor movement. I am getting pretty tired of being pregnant.

Did they mention anything about an anterior placenta? I had one with my second that made finding the heartbeat very difficult until I got further along in my pregnancy.
I haven’t slept in days since getting the Trisomy 21 diagnosis. I asked my local mom group for information for support groups. There were about 12 moms who posted who had children with down syndrome that reached out and welcomed me in to their community. One mom even talked to me on the phone for an hour to put me at ease. I had my genetic counselor appointment yesterday and surprisingly they got me in with the cardiologist Monday morning for a fetal echocardiogram. They were also shocked because apparently I’m their first false negative for the NST but positive amniocentesis. They’ve had false positive results before but not false negative.
Not directly pregnancy related but being pregnant hasn’t exactly helped in this situation. We were supposed to go home yesterday (or Friday? I’m not even sure what day it is anymore). Flight from Vancouver to Amsterdam went ok, we didn’t really sleep much either of us but it was ok. We had about 3 hours at the Amsterdamairport. Found our gate and decided to wait there. Let DS run around. So about 10 mins before boarding our destination suddenly disappeared from the screen at the gate. What? Did they move it? As we were trying to figure that out DH gets a text from KLM saying flight cancelled. This was after a 9 hour flight and 2.5 hours waiting at the airport. Two hours and a very long line to the transfer desk later we are finally rebooked. For tomorrow (today). Now via Helsinki. So our 1.5 hour flight home was replaced by a 2.5 hour flight followed by a 1.5 hour flight. Awesome. There are no less than 6 daily flights between Amsterdam and our hometown but I guess they were all full or something since they rebooked us on a different airline. Honestly I’m not too impressed with KLMs handling of this situation. And we had to find a hotel room all by ourselves since KLM completely dropped the ball (they told us to look at booking.com or Expedia).
DS slept for 5.5 hours from 7 pm to 12:30 and we’ve all been up since then (it’s 6:30 am). He’s going crazy running around the hotel room hitting everything and everyone. Refused to sleep at all. Jet lag will be awful this time. And we still have 5 hours until our first flight and we won’t be home again for another 12 hours. Just kill me.
@elliet, weather here in Amsterdam has been horrible all week. We had mega wind and rain storms again yesterday. I read there were tons of delays and cancellations due to it so it may have contributed? But I’m surprised KLM handled it so terribly. This is their hub so they would have tons of connections.
When you get home, don’t forget to email them and the European transport commission as delays and cancellations must be compensated.
