1. How far along are you this week? 8 weeks 4 days today
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? We found out we are having a boy. We had our RE put the sex in an envelope and after we told DS we let him open the envelope and tell us if it was a boy or girl. We also got to tell our immediate families this weekend.
Today I had my first OB apt. Took a lot longer than expected with paperwork and waiting to see my doctor. We got to see the baby again and it looks like a gummy bear today lol. I don’t have to go back until mid July which seems crazy after IVF lol.
3. Questions for the group?
If you worked out before you were pregnant but took a break in the first tri were you ever able to get back up to speed again? I did Zumba 2-3x per week before I got pregnant/did IVF but haven’t really been able to go nearly as much. I have gained weight and feel bleh. My OB thinks I should be ok to go back when I am done with all my meds in 2 weeks or so.
4. Do you have a nursery theme? No, I haven’t even thought about it yet!

I am going to jump in this week.
1. How far along are you this week?
12w3d.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
Because I had a loss related to a fatal birth defect around this time of pregnancy last year, I’ve already had 3 scans. We were waiting for the most recent scan on Thursday to make sure we could rule out the same birth defect. This baby has an abdominal wall, visible, and an umbilical cord, organs are inside, and no heart failure / brain swelling! Super excited.
And since we got this news and I am actually starting to show a little, we told my step-daughters and my sister this weekend. Youngest step-daughter is excited (she’s 5 and only here on weekends), and older stepdaughter (15, with us full time) is not happy, but I think mostly scared that this baby will be sick too.
Not really pregnancy related, but this weekend also marked the end of dance and soccer for the kids and second to last major assignment for grad school for me, so I am hoping lots more sleep will be in my future. Handling first trimester exhaustion and morning sickness with kids activities and a 6 week class (plus work) has been rough!
3. Questions for the group?
Lots, but too many to really focus enough to ask right now!
4. Do you have a nursery theme?
Not really. We decided we are going to do a small renovation to have a temporary nursery so I don’t loose my work from home office yet, but that’s about it. We were going to do turquoise last time, so I guess that is still on the table, but we are going to find out the sex with the cell-free results, which should be back next week, so we’ll see how that changes things. The idea of designing a room sounds overwhelming right now, lol.

Thumbs up- got the call today that my first tri blood screening ball came back good
Thumbs down- got diagnosed with strep this afternoon. Wtf. I have no idea where I got it from since my kids don’t have it. Hopefully they don’t catch it and I haven’t already infected them. UGH I’m miserable and can’t wait for the antibiotics to kick in.

1. How far along are you this week? 20 weeks on Wednesday!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? My ongoing saga with my mother and her decision to come for 2 weeks after the baby was born continues. After our phone argument, she snailmailed me a 2 page typed letter with how she felt. Told me she was "sorry she upset me but..." and in bold capital letters said that she was my mother, and therefore was entitled to be present for baby things. And that her friends all attend OB appts with their daughters and she feels left out. She is also "hurt" that I chose to not share our infertility journey with her. I'm sorry, but no one is entitled to know my personal business - mother or not.
I think I'm going to ignore it all together unless she brings it up. Addressing it with her will only do harm, I think...
*sigh*
3. Questions for the group?
4. Do you have a nursery theme? We are going beachy/nautical - it fits the rest of our house and the room already is decorated in that style so I won't have to spend as much $.

vmars, yes! I do barre. I took a break in the 1st tri because I was scared about such hard workouts while so newly pregnant and I felt like crap. I went back at 13 weeks and have been back at it. I usually do 1 pregnancy barre class and 1 normal barre workout.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I am offically on gestational hypertension protocol This includes checking my BP with a home monitor 2x/day, some labs last week, peeing in cups AND in a 24 hour collection jug, NSTs last Thurs and yesterday, and...wait for it...scheduled induction next Weds 6/26 at 37 weeks! Oh god. Thankfully, all my labs and pee have been fine and my NSTs have been great so if that means checking my NP 2x/day then so be it. Now it's basically all hands on deck to get things ready at work and at home. Thankfully my type A tendencies have at least come out at work (home gets more of the procrastinator tendencies) so most of my mat leave planning here is done. OB said yesterday that since my BP readings have been consistently in the upper 130s and low 140s over 90s we do not need to push up the timeline and I don't have to go back this week, but if I get any readings in the "danger zone" (160/100) or any preeclampsia symptoms to call her. I was flipping the f*ck out last week but now I'm a little more calm...even though we still need to get the spare bedroom cleared out to move AJ into it and then get his old room ready for baby. We've got places for her to sleep and clothes for her to wear (and a carseat) so that's really all we need
On the upside, I decided to pick up a couple newborn outfits at Carters since we will definitely have a newborn sized baby. Girlfriend now has an adorable little outfit with narwhals and a sleeper with dinosaurs to possibly wear home
3. Questions for the group? S+TMs, have any of you been induced for gestational hypertension? Please tell me about it. I'm told mag sulfate is the actual worst.
4. Do you have a nursery theme? Not really. We got bedding etc from my coworker, it's a green/brown/pink/purple color block with different patterns overlaid in white (polka dots, stripes, etc). Walls will be purple because I am NOT a pink person.
Ugh. Appt with a diabetes counselor tomorrow, which I'm sort of annoyed at since I just had to do this two years ago with my son and know what I'm doing. Plus I have to take him with me because I don't have anyone to watch him. Whatever. Then I guess I have to meet with MFM and do an ultrasound. She didn't have a lot of information on the ultrasound, just confirmed when I asked if it was a growth ultrasound and said it was categorized as a "detailed anatomy scan." I just had my anatomy scan 5 weeks ago. I'll obviously ask a doctor when I talk to them, but anyone have any idea why I would need another one at 25 weeks?

I'm sorry knx9211. I'd be annoyed to need to see the counselor too. I have never had GD before and it was a total waste of time. I'd be super annoyed to do it twice.
Not sure why they'd do another A/S. They scheduled me for a growth ultrasound next week. I think because of the GD, but I'm not sure. It also might have been a mistake, but I want to see baby so I didn't question it.

ha I had the same exact reaction. Seem unnecessary, but I'm going to go with it because YAY extra baby footage!

1. How far along are you this week? 6 weeks 5 days
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I’ll update here. Had serial beta HCGs which here good and finally saw baby on ultrasound today. However, there’s still a questionable area near one ovary that looks like it maybe corpus luteum, but they’re unsure. And I have 2 fibroids which I did not have last pregnancy (Dd is 16 months).
3. Questions for the group? Anyone have experience with fibroids in pregnancy.

We just got our cell-free DNA results back, and baby is low risk for the trisomies!
And we learned the sex. We wanted to do a big gender reveal, but we couldn’t stand the idea of having the results in my email and not knowing. We might still do a party with a cake to tell everyone else, but we are brimming with excitement today!

I had a slight melt down this morning on my drive into work. After another insomnia induced night where I got about 4.5 hours of sleep and I'm feeling like a zombie this morning, I started to wonder how I am going to handle the newborn sleepless nights and still function and take care of said newborn. Sleep has always scared me because you just have no real control over what kind of sleeper your baby is. I have another 19 weeks to obsess over it, ughhhh.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Had our fetal echo today and it went well! Baby girl was munching on her toes and baby boy refused to show his face but had no problem maneuvering his bottom onto the screen. LOL
3. Questions for the group? None
4. Do you have a nursery theme? I'm doing just pinks and blue/grays. One wall is an alphabet wall that I repainted from DS's baby room and the other wall will have two pictures of bunnies, one with a floral crown and one without, to put above each of their cribs.

stellelinds25 my pregnancy insomnia was way worse than the newborn stage with DD. There is very little I could do about the insomnia, so that drove me crazy. With a newborn, you have things to fix and do so that helps. Not to say I wasn’t exhausted, but I then didn’t have to haul ass to work those first few weeks either. I avoided driving on bad days too.
If I wake up between 2-3 I know I will be up for hours when pregnant. I will take a half of a Benadryl which may or may not help me fall back asleep, but at least I feel as though I have done something. I need to take them occasionally for allergies anyhow, so I’ve been cleared by my midwife.
stellelinds25, hugs, lack of sleep is so hard, especially when you desperately need it. The lack of sleep with a newborn is hard, but it is temporary and it passes. I actually have fond memories of getting up with DS in the middle of the night, but they were definitely not fond memories while I was going through it! LOL
vmars, I didn't do much in the first trimester and started back up in second tri with no problem, but it was not at the same rate/pace as I was doing before pregnancy. Now I feel lucky to get a walk in, but I feel like anything is better than nothing.

Just posted this in ML randoms, but posting it here too because I'm fired up.....
I just had one of those lunches with the COO where you can pretty much talk about whatever concerns you have. It's a safe space...blah blah blah. You guys know the deal. Anyway--I brought up that our maternity/paternity leave policies are a joke. HR was there (she moderates). I got fucking attacked by HR. I'm livid. Everyone else in the lunch (there were 4 of us other than HR and COO) agreed with me, but.....
Doesn't help that I'm pregnant so it seems like a personal complaint although I voiced that was not my intention. The other 4 people said I was very brave. LOL

I'm late yet again this week
1. How far along are you this week? 20w as of today - half way baked!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I had what seems to have been my first Braxton Hicks contractions yesterday which really threw me for a loop. I had 3 that lasted for just under a minute within a 10 minute span. I normally don't Google medical items, but did and I got a bit freaked out based upon the trajectory when I saw that 6+ in an hour could mean pre-term labor. I ended up calling my doctor and just went home for the afternoon from work to take it easy. I hate to be that over-reacting/nervous FTM, but glad I called in to confirm what I should do.
3. Questions for the group? None right now
4. Do you have a nursery theme? I am not big on themes, but overall going for a serene feeling with greenery/botanical prints, light floral accents, and calming neutralish colors. We're removing the popcorn ceilings before we get started decorating, but I'm finally feeling motivated get started (apparently I needed to be half way cooked to get my butt in gear)
Just did the 1hr glucose test. I didn’t feel as crappy this time as I recall feeling with DD. Just a bit rough around 20 minutes. Fingers crossed that I pass!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? We finally told our families, which was fun. My brother and SIL also announced they are expecting their 2nd so my parents got the news of 2 new grand babies on the same day!
3. Questions for the group? Is it normal to want to murder your H? I feel like I am viewing everything through the lens of having a newborn, therefore every annoyance is heightened. Like yesterday the dog got into an area of the backyard where I can’t get her, so I was calling for H. After yelling loudly multiple times (I was trying to keep eyes on the dog) he finally responded - he had fallen asleep. Not a big deal normally, but all I could think was what if I’d had the baby? I can’t be hollering over and over to get his attention. I’m sure this will pass, but it’s not fun right now - for me OR for him, lol!
4. Do you have a nursery theme? Uh, no. I’ve only bought 2 things: and elephant mobile and some gray/cream baskets. Need to get my butt in gear!
