melmaria - The Owlet has been a life-saver for us, and it's been worth every penny we paid for it. I didn't sleep at all before we started using it, because I was convinced that if I closed my eyes something awful was going to happen and I wouldn't know until it was too late. If I could have DD keep wearing it for the rest of her life, I probably would. lol.
katespade , have you had any false alarms or issues with the owlet? My sister used one of the monitoring devices that goes under the crib mattress and they had a false alarm once, which was understandably horrifying for them.
We haven't had any false alarms yet -knock on wood-. She has managed to kick the monitor loose in her sleep a couple of times, but that alarm is a very different sound from the something is wrong alarm, so it hasn't been traumatic for us when it's happened. And it's only happened two or three times in the almost six months that she's been wearing it every night.
The Owlet is a sock, so I think foot shape may play a part in the likelihood of false alarms. DD has thick feet, so the monitor part of the sock sits really flush against her and is able to get a good, strong reading. She has to do a lot of shifting and kicking around for it to wiggle loose enough to stop working.
melmaria don’t feel bad.. She is on her back in a safe sleeping space and you need sleep too!
Idk if you have spoken with someone about your anxiety but don’t hesitate to call your OB or shoot me a pm. PPA is the less frequently talked about sibling of PPD and many people write it off as “new mom worries”.
I’ve just struggled with horrible anxiety my entire life, it’s not specific to postpartum stuff. I appreciate it though. I’ve taken Celexa in the past but weaned off of it when TTC. Maybe it’s time to consider going back on it, but I’m breastfeeding and haven’t wanted to take anything until I’m done with that...
FWIW, I take 10g of Celexa and BF. I was prescribed (by my OB!) when DS (now 2.5) was 1 week old because I was experiencing crippling anxiety. I BF him for 15 months, continued to take it throughout my pregnancy with DD, and am still on it now.

There are quite a few bf safe medications (like lexapro, celexas sister drug) if you decide the anxiety is interfering with or making life too hard. Happy healthy mom = happy healthy baby
Trust your momma gut - you will make the best informed decision for your family.

I took lexapro (the sister drug of celexa) bf Ds1, Ds2 and while pregnant with Ds3.
melmaria, we opted out of the Owlet because of the few incidences of burns on babies feet. We ended up with the Miku and we LOVE it. It's incredibly advanced technology and hasn't given us a single false alarm. Great analytics too. It's $$ but we think it's worth it.
We just had four straight days of awful spit up and gas. Finally used probiotics yesterday late afternoon for the first time and just like that...all is well again. WTF. Still had a fairly long night as I think he was HUNGRY after a long day yesterday but hoping things continue to get a little better.
So many tears yesterday from me, and him, and eventually my husband. I was prepared for a baby to cry unnecessarily but having one crying because he's in pain from gas and not knowing how to help was the WORST.
pooh8402 Glad to hear you think it’s been helpful. How many sessions have you done? I was hoping to get started ASAP but the first available appt isn’t until 7/22.
Susie sorry to hear you had a rough day. Hope today is better!
I've had 5 sessions so far, and the biofeedback thingy says I'm about 3 times stronger than when I started. I do have at home exercises to do, and am supposed to do them 3 times a day, but really I do one or two sessions a day.
ut I do often feel like no one else is "in this" with me, which is hard.
I can relate to this ((( Hugs ))) can you get a babysitter for a few hours a few times a week just to get a little break?
I’m not sure. MIL offered to do that sort of relief, but I am gunshy after last week that she’ll bail on me again. That’s worse than not offering at all. Since Calvin took almost no time after birth, he may also be able to take a little here and there. With 4th of July this week at least that breaks it up a bit. Tomorrow H can take DS while DD naps, and I can have a little break then. Light in the tunnel!
melmaria, I was too. We originally had our kiddo in a bassinet in our room and couldn't use the Miku anyway because we couldn't suspend it over the bassinet in any way. Room sharing lasted all of 4 days, it was a total disaster. We moved him to his crib and it's been smooth sailing since (well...when he actually sleeps). Like Susie, we follow strict safe sleeping practices and felt this was the best option for everyone.
pooh8402, how invasive is the therapy? I'm so over pelvic exams after years of fertility treatments and pregnancy.

Fairly invasive, unfortunately. Especially the first appointment where she was evaluating my strength manually. I spend every appointment Donald Ducking it because the biofeedback electrodes are attached to my perineum.
And I agree about being over pelvic exams after a combined 5 years of IF and pregnancy. At the same time, it's also like, well, everyone else has been down there, join the party!
I take it, on the advice of a lactation consultant. I actually started out with an oversupply, but DD being a lazy eater made my supply drop so then I started supplements. My supply has improved, but I don’t know if I should attribute that to the go lacta powder, the oatmeal, the mothers milk tea, or the extra pumping session each day...or all of the above.
That’s who recommended it to me. You take the powder? She gave me capsules. How many times a day do you pump? I didn’t have an oversupply, but have a lazy eater. She also said the tea is so diluted you’d need buckets to make a difference, but I’m going to keep drinking it.
I'm so tired of using my personal time for sleep and not something fun.
I hear this so loud.
Every night, at like 8-9pm after we get DD to bed: go to bed early? Or stay up and talk to an adult for the first time all day now that H is home? Decisions, decisions.
My kid slept from 10-2 and again from 3:00 until .... well he is STILL sleeping and it’s almost 7 and I’m like “OMG I DONTKNOWWHATTODOWITHMYSELF”
I woke up at 6:30 and ran into his room in a panic and he was just happily sleeping away.
I just had a cup of coffee. Not holding a baby.
I’m not getting excited because I know this could be a fluke of a night but man, it was needed after so many super rough nights. He’s so much happier after mixing in the probiotics and we also upped his nighttime feedings from the typical 4 oz to 5.5 oz (at dr recommendation) and that clearly has helped.
Excuse me while I cry happy tears into my hot delicious coffee.
Last night was rough. We are traveling and crashed at a friend's house on our way to see my family. I have a little travel bassinet. I think the schedule and sleeping arrangements were too different, because E2 was up like 3 times and had a hard time settling. It did not help that I had only 4 hours sleep the night before, so I was EXHAUSTED. DH held him for a while to settle him, but I had to do most of it.
woowoo that is Awesome! Rub some of that baby sleep on me please!
My son was up at almost 5 screaming. I think it was gas, poor kiddo.
I am not sure yet if the probiotics are really what has made the difference but just two days on them he’s much much less gassy. I’ll let you know after it’s been like 5!
Good- DS snuggling on my chest, hot coffee in my cup, DD at the playground with DH so it’s quiet.
Bad-DS is a slow gainer, and I keep sleeping through my alarms for the middle of the night feeds which probably isn’t helping. He seems to be gaining on the scale we have here, fx he’s gained enough on the scale at the doctors when we go for the 1 month visit tomorrow
Ugly—DS is a spitter. Probably not more than any other baby, but irrationally concerning because of the weight issue.

We take the same ones because of vitamin d. I’m glad they’re helping your little guy.
woowoo Yay!!!! You deserve a shot of Baileys in that coffee! How old is baby again? Did you go straight from 4oz to 5.5oz? I’m wondering if bigger bottles might help us in the sleep front too but I haattteee pouring out formula.

He's 6 weeks on Saturday. BUT he also at 5.5 oz for his other two bottles already during the day today, which is freaking me out. Someone remind me again how I can't overfeed an infant? His wait times between feeds have only been like 3.5 hours...so not that much longer. Eeks.
namasteak, maybe start just increasing to 4.5 oz, then make a 2nd bottle for more if needed?

He won't overfeed. Mine are 16 weeks tomorrow, and eat like 7 oz every 3 hours during the day. If he's hungry, he'll let you know, if he's full he will let you know!
