PinkSquirrel, I think you are vastly overblowing how effectively impeachment will do the things you mentioned. McConnell is not going down with Trump. Full-stop. If anything, I suspect (although I suppose I have no real evidence to back this up) that non-Trump members of the GOP would benefit from an impeachment moving forward because they get to play "not it" while the Party's failings get laid at the feet of one man. They would be more than happy to scapegoat him I'm sure. Removing Trump from office is actually relatively far down on my political wishlist, but that is an unpopular opinion on this board I know.
I mean, you can think whatever you want. You certainly aren't going to be changing my mind.

Changing your mind wasn't even on my radar. I am positive a random post from someone with a different opinion isn't magically going to change anyone's mind on something I suspect people commenting here have thought about considerably. I'm not a unicorn.
I think if the Dems can paint a good enough picture there's a lot that's possible, but I also fully accept and acknowledge that they generally suck at painting pictures and hoping they can do a good enough job to convince the country to believe facts is an obscenely tall order. I see Trump as a symptom, but not at all the root of the problem and removing Trump isn't going to magically fix anything. I'm not sure our ranking of removal from office on wish lists is all that different.
I am neutral about impeachment when it comes down to it. But I will say, everyone is always yelling about how they want the Democrats to be smarter and better-messaged, and there is quite a lot to indicate that the more politically savvy, better-messaged and most effective approach here is not to try to do this pre-election.
The upholding the constitution thing feels beside the point to me, because regardless of what the House does, Trump will remain in office.
ETA: LOL to anyone who wants to characterize my position as being one of fear. I go toe to toe with these people all day every day. I'm not afraid of them.
To me this feels the same as Biden being ahead in the polls because he is “the most electable” - the notion that people may be trying to predict what OTHER voters think rather than reflecting their own view. I’m skeptical that the data is really capturing how the electorate feels, and frankly I’m sick to death of Ds governing based on polls.
