1. How far along are you? 15+2
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I’m finally feeling better. Also, I need my maternity clothes back from SIL also I can pack for our overseas trip in a little over 2 weeks!!
3. Questions for the group?
If you had a placenta previa , when did you feel baby? With DD2, I felt her like 14 weeks. This is my first time with a preview, so just curious
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc).
I loved under belly leggings last pregnancy! We’ll see about this time around
swiftlyirun, I'm not sure what that is? Is that like an anterior placenta? I had that with both of these and it took until almost 21 weeks before I felt them move, whereas my first I felt him around 13-14 weeks.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I have survived DDs 4th birthday party but it was a rough weekend. I was able to clean up the baby room though and to organize a lot of the stuff. A couple loads of laundry and I will be set to pack the bag for the hospital.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc), My Croc flip flops (don’t actually look too much like crocs) have been lifesavers and I’ve worn them at all times at home. So nice to have cushy arch support. I also went and got larger band bras (still underwire) that fit around 10-11 weeks of pregnancy both times. Those two bras (one nude, one black) have been lifesavers throughout both pregnancies at work. I generally shift from a C cup to a D cup and stay that way but I also go up a band size. While I can still fit in my other bras, they’re just not comfortable the same way. On weekends I wear sports bras mostly.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I'm getting uncomfortable and he feels like he's going to fall out. I saw my doctor Friday and I'm measuring a month ahead. I just want to sleep. While I know I'll have broken sleep and be tired with a newborn, at least I'll be comfortable. I have to pee 500 times a night or else it feels like my pelvic bone is going to snap from the pressure.

So far the only thing keeping me comfortable is stretchy lounge pants and granny panties. They are the only thing that is keeping me sane.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? My baby shower was yesterday! It was beautiful and completely overwhelming. So many people and gifts, I feel so blessed. But coming from a place where I had started to wonder if I’d ever even be a mom, it was an emotional day.
3. Questions for the group? What’s an appropriate number of newborn outfits? I know it depends on size etc and that they grow out of them so fast.
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc). I got new bras pretty early in and went right to nursing bras...they are so comfortable. I also wear lots of dresses and leggings because it’s most comfortable.
swiftlyirun, I'm not sure what that is? Is that like an anterior placenta? I had that with both of these and it took until almost 21 weeks before I felt them move, whereas my first I felt him around 13-14 weeks.
I meant previa, ha, I didn’t even notice I was victim of autocorrect!! That makes me feel better. I’m all kinds of nervous today after some strange discharge.

stellelinds25 I would suggest having 7 or so onesies, 4 footie pyjamas, and that’s about it for newborn. Unless you and your DH were super tiny babies that would be enough for me. I like onesies to fit fairly well and I also like footie pyjamas to fit too, but pants and sweaters can be 0-3 month size and it doesn’t bother me. Granted DD was born at 8 lbs so she was never a small newborn.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I started Diclegis last week, and it is helping. Thanks Susie, Aloe Vera, and dock for the suggestion. My OB prescribed the actual combined doxylamine/B6 prescription (10 mg each) and said to take four pills at bedtime...so 40 mg doxylamine and 40 mg B6. 40 mg of doxylamine seems like a lot (1.5 doses of Unisom!), but OTOH my nausea has been better so I'm hesitant to mess with it. I will say that my sleep needs have escalated and I'm not sure how much of it is due to 1st tri vs. meds. We went camping this weekend, and it took me an entire day to recover from the lack of sleep. I was so trashed yesterday, but after going to bed at 9 pm I am feeling functional today.

4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc) There was a maternity store in Atlanta that I LOVED the first time around, but sadly I discovered that it has since closed Besides my ankle injury, I had such an easy pregnancy that I didn't really use any "pregnancy items" other than maternity clothes. I'm afraid that this time around may be different!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? 2rd trimester finally!

I gave in and bought maternity underwear like 2 weeks ago because none of my regular underwear feels comfortable anymore. They are so soft and awesome. I dont even care that they are total granny panties.

1. How far along are you? 40. Happy due date to me! Now get out.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I’m still pregnant. She asked today if I was ok waiting or if I was done - I am done. So she sent the referral letter and I’m going to try to schedule an induction for Friday. Hoping the water birth room is available so I can still get my med free, water birth! 🤞🏽🤞🏽
3. Questions for the group?
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc),
Maternity underwear. Nursing bras even while pregnant. Pregnancy pillow (queen rose on amazon). Lululemon align pants.
swiftlyirun, the previa did not impact feeling of movement at all but my placenta was also at the back.
Ok, now I’m questioning if she said “previa”. I need to write things down. I have no memory these days. Basically she said that it might be later when I feel the baby. I just googled previa and that seems way more serious, I’m assuming she would have said more if it was previa
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? We survived Europe! It was amazing and super exhausting but... gelato everyday so no complaints!
Having an October baby is proving to be a strain on my bank account... combining baby clothes + Halloween, 2 of my favorite things is not great for me (But ALSO SO AWESOME because Halloween baby clothes!)
3. Questions for the group? I just wanna know what all the 3rd tri mamas that are due before Halloween are dressing their babies up as!
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc), I DO really love my pregnancy body pillow. I also got a romper that I love. Normally not a romper kinda person but its so comfy and I always get compliments when I wear it.

Nursing/ sleeping bras are awesome. They have helped with the breast tenderness at night.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week?
Anatomy scan #3 is Thursday; nerves are starting to set in. I don’t think DH is going we definitely didn’t consider how much the loss of flexibility would affect us when he switched jobs in June.
I think it is time to invest in a belly support.
3. Questions for the group? What do you ask when looking at Daycare’s? Based on my questions last week, I did start my search, just asking basic questions about availability and cost. They all invited me to come do a tour. What do we ask / look for during the tour.
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc)
Maternity underpants, maternity lounge pants, and target Auden bras, $15 at a cup size up for now.

Google anterior placenta, that may be what she mentioned you have. I don’t have one so can’t speak first hand, but that is the term I have heard referred to when people are discussing feeling baby later.

Yes, I think you're right. Wow, I feel dumb. What a silly gaffe to make!

1. How far along are you? 29+5
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? Three randoms: 1) We put the tongue and groove wall in the nursery this weekend and I love it! We just need to caulk and then we can start putting the room together. Our shower is in an couple of weeks and I'd like to have it put together as much as possible prior so new things have a place.
2) I feel like I need to move my office to the OB clinic. They have me starting at weekly visits starting at 32 weeks, in addition to the biweekly visits at MFM for growth concerns. I'm all about being proactive but it's a work killer (esp with the drive). I'm not sure why they want to see me so often if nothing is happening but maybe it's all about liability.
3) I saw one of the midwives today and she asked me what I was thinking about as far as pain meds and I told her I'd prefer to go without an epidural, and why. She launched into a 10 minute speech (not conversation) about why I should have an epidural. It was pretty condescending, truth be told, and left me frustrated. I'm seeing a different midwife in 2 weeks and am not sure if I should bring it up again OR just let things ride until the time comes. Reality is that the nurses will be the ones helping me navigate pain management, right?
3. Questions for the group? Ooops - sorta asked mine in my random thought above
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc) Have really bought very little - just some maternity clothes. Still wearing regular bra and undies and lots of my tops still fit me okay. I did buy a belly band, which in the beginning helped my regular pants fit longer and now provides a nice support when I need it. I also bought a cheap wedge pillow to help me stay off my back but I think I toss it in the middle of the night and sleep on my back anyways so...

chocolatelove Day care tours, typically, are similar to meet and greet with potential pediatricians in that they should answer just about every common question along the way and not rely on you to ask them. Things I covered when I did tours of my center (off the top of my head): security (entrance, visitors, check in and check out, etc); feeding policies; SIDS preventions and sleep policies; daily class schedule; how our teaching team operates (how many different people will be with the infant each day); parent communication, esp during the day (regulations did not allow staff to be on their phone while caring for children so infant parents needed to know that the teacher wasn't always available to touch base); teacher tenure, education and training; illness and school closure policies; enrollment procedures; tuition info and policies; how our waitlist worked; requirements for admission; curriculum; outdoor play. I also gave a brief tour of the infant area and classrooms, typically introduced them to the head teacher in each classroom, and pointed out things in the space that tied into the spiel I already gave (SIDS timesheets, feeding charts, cubbies, diapering area, outdoor playspace, etc).
Then I sent them home with my most recent parent handbook, menu, and a waitlist application. I always had a long list so I already could tell them how many were on it, and how likely they would be to get a spot, before taking anyone's application/money.
Some things you can find out ahead of time because they are state regulations - especially if they are super important to you. Most of my policies were created by the state so I didn't have much wiggle room, even if I thought they were stupid. So you should see a lot of the same policies and practices at each center you look at.
Sorry that was probably way more info than you wanted

chocolatepie I feel you on moving in to the dr office! I also start weekly NSTs at 32w and I see MFM as well. I just made all my spots yesterday at my ob appt and it’s SO much!
Post by chocolatepie on Aug 27, 2019 11:06:55 GMT -5
stellelinds25 I have one of those at 32 weeks, too! The NST and some biological something scan? Told me I'd be there 1-1.5 hours instead of my usual 10 minutes in and out.
I sorta wish they'd let me just schedule them all at the same time so I had a clear picture of the next 2 months but they go appt to appt with scheduling.
swiftlyirun, just a heads up, with an anterior placenta it can make it harder to find the heartbeat sometimes. With my second son it would freak me out because it would take several times and then they would find it but it would be faint. It wasn't until he got much bigger and closer to the end that it got easier to pick it up by doppler. The placenta kind of muffles everything when it's in the front.
1. How far along are you? 33+4 (due 14 Oct as they calculate due dates differently here)
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? Still commuting to work with my bicycle. It's actually easier and much faster than walking.
3. Questions for the group? For moms of 2+: when did your second (or third...) move to head down/stop moving around so much? This little guy is still flipping himself around multiple times a day and seems to prefer lying transverse. It's starting to make me nervous. I had a vaginal breech birth with my first and I really want to avoid that this time but I also really don't want a c-section.
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc). Other than some maternity clothes, I haven't purchased anything extra. Though I sleep with 5 pillows.
I had an anterior placenta with my first. I had visible movement from the outside by 21 weeks and could definitely feel him by my anatomy scan at 19 weeks. I've also heard that it's harder to find the heartbeat with an anterior, but we actually had an easier time finding DS1's heartbeat using a normal stethoscope than we've had this go around with a posterior placenta.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week?
Feeling a lot of early movement which I can best describe as a gurgling feeling from what is too low to be digestion. Appointment tomorrow, just a basic heartbeat check, but I should get to schedule the anatomy appointment at check out.
3. Questions for the group?
Any tips for lifting an oversized toddler? My back is starting to hurt sometimes but I can’t exactly avoid lifting my almost two year old (who is pushing 35 lbs, kid was born at the top of the weight chart and stayed there).
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc),
Nothing magical, but I do enjoy the maternity leggings I picked up this time around. I mostly wear flowy skirts and maxi dresses that are non maternity though, and just use a king size pillow for my legs, the pregnancy ones were too bulky for me.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I’m just waiting for it to start now. I haven’t really Felt anything, no contractions or early labour, not even any cramps. But both ladt night and tonight I’ve felt like my pelvis was exploding or being torn apart. Seems a bit late to get spd no?
3. Questions for the group? nothing
4. What is your favorite pregnancy item, aka, something you couldn’t live without and would recommend to all your newly pregnant friends? (Clothes, bras, shoes, some magical pillow that helps you sleep all night, etc), Not sure I have anything like that. Last pregnancy I loved my Snoogle and I excitedly brought it out this time too only to discover I didn’t like it much. Part of it was it took up too much room in bed since DS is cosleeping but mostly it was just uncomfortable. It’s too flat for my head, I normally sleep with one of those ergonomic memory foam type pillows and no matter how I tried to poof it the snoogle was not good. I wish it would have been J shaped instead of C shaped. Then I could have used my regular pillow for my head.
swiftlyirun I had placenta previa with baby #2. I was put on pelvic rest but it corrected itself by week 27 - went on to have a vaginal birth. I think many correct themselves before birth so it doesn’t really become and issue till closer to due date if it hasn’t corrected. As for feeling the baby I think it was about the same as my first...15/16 weeks?
Google anterior placenta, that may be what she mentioned you have. I don’t have one so can’t speak first hand, but that is the term I have used referred to when people are discussing feeling baby later.
Yes, I think you're right. Wow, I feel dumb. What a silly gaffe to make!
I had an anterior placenta with my first and didn't feel her until 22 weeks. This pregnancy also started off with an anterior placenta, but it has since drifted to the top and I started to feel her at 19 weeks (I'm guessing that's around the time when it moved, ha).
Having an anterior placenta is no cause for concern, the only downside is it does take longer to feel the baby, even if it's not your first pregnancy.
