I’m sorry ssmjlm My brother passed under different circumstances but I had similar issues with mom in the year or two following. I knew she was hurting, but being told things like “I love you but he was special” still hurt. Grief is a terrible thing. Thinking of you.
So they updated the travel alerts to include GA/S.C. airports so my mom was able to get on an earlier flight. That gets here 9:30am Tuesday. Which, yay, she’s relieved and won’t potentially miss our trip. But also it means my mom is going to be here two days early while I’m trying to go to school and get ready for the trip. Insert the Kristen Bell laugh/cry gif here.
Also, I’m very upset that TinyPic is gone and I don’t know how to insert photos otherwise. If I save them they’re always too large to be an attachment.

I’m sorry ssmjlm. I know my dynamic is different bc my dad is the addict and not a sibling but my mom twists herself into pretzels to make my dad a victim. I know she’ll do the same once he dies. Her entire identity is wrapped up in his addiction and it always will be. Sometimes I feel like I just don’t have parents anymore, bc of their garbage.
I’m really sorry. It sucks and you deserve better.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I ordered something from Amazon yesterday and specifically chose for it to be delivered Tuesday so someone wasn’t working on a holiday for me. I just got an email that it’ll be delivered tomorrow. What the point of being able to choose a delivery day if they’re not going to do it?
Exact same thing is happening to me. It legitimately makes me mad. I don't need it right away and I want people to have their holidays!
I hate that amazon reviews can leave me paralyzed and I don't make my purchases. I'm not talking major purchase either, white boards for the kids room and thermos for their lunch boxes.
It’s happening! After living with this maroon accent corner since we bought our house 4 years it’s FINALLY being painted. I also had no idea that there were so many holes and imperfections on my walls 😂
Just got back from having dinner with friends, and now I'm meal planning for next week. It's extra hard because I'm starting another round of Whole30 tomorrow. Soooo much planning and prep!
Oh, and I’m reading The Alice Network right now... I’m 50% through, so I’m committed to sticking it out, but man, this book is rough. The story is interesting, but I’m really struggling to get through it anyway. Can’t say I’d recommend it.
On the flip side, I’m listening to The Great Believers and that book is fantastic. I wish I had the kindle version so I could switch back and forth to get through it faster.
I painted the yellowed area around the new fans today and everything looks pretty seamless now. I’m really happy that ended up being so easy.
I’ve gotten so much done this weekend! I feel so productive! We need to have 4 day weekends more often.
How did you match the white paint? We have a few ceiling spots to touch up, but I don’t know what kind of paint is on it now. Ours is a smooth ceiling, so everything shows and the drywall cracked in a couple spots.

Well, literally every wall and ceiling is the exact same color/finish of paint. The previous owner's painted everrrrrything before we bought the house. To make a long story short, we really messed up the walls in our laundry room trying to fit the washer and dryer side by side, which peeled a bunch of paint off the walls. So we took a giant piece of that to the hardware store and had them color match it. We did that several months ago, so I just had the paint sitting around.
I'm not 100% sure it would pass muster if it was just straight up on the walls, but because this is directly over the fans, any variation is really hard to see and could easily be attributed to shadow.
I have, in the past, cut out drywall in an inconspicuous area to take it for matching, but, again, it wasn't a totally perfect match. Having a large piece in this case helped them to get it as close as possible and also match the finish. In your case, I'd be concerned that you'll get it color matched and the areas you paint will stand out because they'll be every so slightly different. As far as options for color matching though, if you have an attic cover that you can remove and take with you to the store, or a hall closet, that would be an easy way to cut a piece out and later patch.

Not the OP, but if you have a lot of spots that need patching, I’d recommend just repainting the whole ceiling. We just buy the ceiling paint at Sherwin Williams and don’t have it tinted and have slowly been repainting our ceilings, and because they’re all the same, we’ll eventually just keep extra paint on hand for any future touch ups.
