Listen people, New Haven style pizza is the best. I personally like Pepe's rather than Sally's, but the Pepe's owner just came out as a Trumper so now I guess I need to eat at Modern or Bar. I'm totally a pizza snob.
The one and only meal I have ever eaten in Connecticut was at Bar. It was New Haven style mashed potato pizza, and it was delicious. I'm sorry to say that I have had better pizza in Chicago but I feel like it's not even worth comparing the two because they are so different and both really worthwhile. I'd love to eat New Haven style pizza again. I hope to actually spend some time in CT at some point since I only passed through.
I eat frozen pizza fairly regularly, though, so I'm not exactly a pizza snob. I love pizza in any form.
eclaires I love squirrels and I love your story with the happy ending (for most of them, at least). That would have made me so happy to watch.
wildrice, I do enjoy Chicago style, but I can only have like one piece before I am full lol
And don't get me wrong, I'll still eat a frozen pizza, but we have a lot of good choices around so it's mostly if I am being lazy. If you do come to CT, I'd be happy to show you on the 'pizza trail'
Have any of you experienced your feet getting bigger as an adult? I tried on two pairs of shoes that I have owned for about 10-15 years and they are both about 1/2 size too small now :/
Yes. My podiatrist said it's normal and feet sometimes change shape. I wore a certain brand of running shoes for a few years and then they just stopped fitting correctly. It was very strange.
Can anyone recommend an iPhone app for recording phone calls?
I’m in editing/reporting, and nowadays I work from home and all my calls are done through my personal iPhone. When I worked in an office I had a recorder that I hooked up to my desk phone when I did phone interviews.
Obviously I will ask permission from my interview subjects before I start recording, as always. I take pretty good notes but it’s always good to have a voice recording as backup to make sure I quote people properly.
I've just designed the invite for my 40th birthday and am quite proud of how it's turned out...
I decided after the last few years being rather crappy, I deserved a fun birthday party so I've rented a villa on the beach for a weekend and am inviting about 40 adults to come and party with me.

Well poop. I was so excited to try the new one in Burlington, but hadn't made it there yet. I guess I'll pass.
Good pizza and deli was the thing I loved most about working in CT. Harry's pizza in West Hartford was seriously my favorite. Pizza in the Boston area is mostly mediocre to garbage; it's depressing.

I love my new iPhone XS so much. I'm glad I accidentally broke my previous phone.
I'm still in vacation mode. I was gone all last week and then had to WFH Tuesday because of an emergency, and I just haven't been able to get back into the groove. I kinda sensed this week would be shot anyway because of the holiday. But I have a big day tomorrow where I'm taking the new big boss for a tour so I really need to be on point and snap out of this lazy period.

I’m obsessed with Pepe’s and this is so disheartening to hear the owner is a Trumper.
H and I will be driving from Maine to Florida the week between Christmas and New Years. My grandparents snowbird in Florida and they'll be flying down after Christmas, so we offered to drive their car down for them. They'll fly us back home afterward.
Is there anything fun that H and I should stop and see/do along the way? We've driven from New England to the DC area before, but have never driven south of there. Neither of us has ever been to the Carolinas, and we've been to Georgia but only to Atlanta.
This may be too off your path, but the holiday displays at Longwood Gardens in PA (Philadelphia area) are amazing. The greenhouse is beautiful during the day, but the lights at night are really special.
They do these gorgeous Christmas decorations at the Breakers in Newport RI. It’s not really on the way as the fastest/most direct way cuts out RI entirely. I did that drive once and it’s LONG. I went from Maine to Miami.

I was VERY upset. More upset that I learned about it when my neighbor was colluding with another neighbor to wear their MAGA hats there together next time.
Our dog died almost two months ago, we were not looking to replace him. This morning my friend messaged me saying I need to check out the local humane society. I did and then drove there to get this dog.
She is a 1-2 year old Scottie mix. They told me they didn’t have any info on her, but then I was looking through the envelope they gave us and it has her surrender form. Humane society says she is one, intake form says they have had her for two years. It says she is bad in car rides, (she was totally calm and fine in the car) she is not crate trained, not house broken, but also she doesn’t have accidents. () She doesn’t know how to walk on a leash. (She definitely pulls quite a bit)
I’m in between scared shitless and overwhelmed and regretting this and completely in love.
We put her in a crate so we could do bedtime routine and she whined, but is now just standing in it.
She will eat treats, but not her food, and she won’t go to the bathroom outside, she has peed and pooped twice inside after being out for a while. (I will obviously stay out a bit longer and praise her like crazy after going outside while on her leash.)
And rationally I know the difference of not know history at all vs we are going to have our fucking hands full is minimal, and at least we have an idea of what we may need to work on, but man, I wish I would have been told this BEFORE we got her.
Has anyone had success with petsmart training classes? Do they help a 1-2 year old dog?
We went to the petsmart training class with our first dog as they were free (part of the rescue package). The classes weren't amazing, but they were decent. With our second dog, we went to a local place and those were better.
Our first dog was terrible to walk. He pulled so much. I found the "easy walker" harness really helped.
I've never had to house train a dog so no help there.
I am getting a pedicure, and I switched my color when I realized the name was So Hot It Berns. I don’t want Bernie anywhere near my toes. But I just looked at my new color, and it’s Size Matters. Yuck. I think my new dream in life is to name nail polish.

Bad pizza in NYC? Unless you're talking about Sbarro's and Domino's and shit like that, I object to your insult! Also, if you've only ever had NYC pizza in Manhattan, you're really missing out. You gotta go to the outer boroughs for the best, notably Staten Island and Brooklyn.
I bought a cute fall jacket at Zara the other day. I generally wear a size 14 in most brands, sometimes a 12 or a 16 if the brand runs bigger or smaller. This is generally either a L or XL. I haven't been to Zara in a while so I found the jacket and took out the Large to see if that fit. I was swimming in it. I ended up needing a SMALL. Vanity sizing is out of control and I hate it. I am not a small person wtf.
We got our new refrigerator! It fits (barely) and I'm so excited to be able to buy frozen pizza, which didn't fit in the old freezer's French door setup. Also the wider fridge setup just feels so much more roomy, although I'm not sure if it's actually bigger or not.

Dog picture sorry it took forever. She is getting better at things, and she listens pretty well. But she keeps peeing and pooping in the house even though we take her out a lot and walk around with her for a while. So we need to figure that out.

You've only had her a few days? Our shelter dog was terrified the first few days and wouldn't eat, wouldn't go potty outside, and mostly wanted to curl up in a ball in the corner. She got way better as she learned she could trust us. She was fairly normal after a week or two, but it wasn't until we'd had her for months that her real personality started to shine.

Is travel to Seattle always a flaming dumpster fire? I managed to fly out of the aftermath of a hurricane but am now sitting on the ground in a completely different city (and state) because of a storm in Seattle.

Well, I spent Christmas day in the Seattle airport once, but most of the time it's not too much of a mess.
I've flown through, to, or from Seattle at least 50x in my life and that Christmas day was definitely an anomaly.

We made it to Seattle but lightning struck the airport and now planes can’t leave their gates. I am exhausted.

I hope you're able to get on your way quickly. And while we get lots of rain on the regular it's been a long time since we've had thunder and lightning like we did tonight.
