100% this. I always thought of VT as exactly as described above. Then I became an adult and I see the racism daily and it is so hard. I am not a city person (I like my rural life), but I keep leaning more and more towards moving to a more diverse area so my son can experience the culture that is lacking in this area and not just become some naive, racist asshole that I encounter so often.
