Geneva, Switzerland and nearby areas

I am going to a conference in Geneva and have one full day and one night to see Geneva and one full day for a tour elsewhere. Any recommendations for must sees, particularly any tour recommendations? I will be traveling with a coworker, and we love books, history, beautiful scenery (but not necessarily arduous hikes through it), wine, and fun shops.

We went to Mont Saleve, which might be good for your free day. You can take a cable car up and there are amazing views from the top.



I don’t remember many details, but we also did a boat ride around the lake which was nice, but only took about an hour. One of my favorite things was going to a public pool/beach, but that is obviously weather dependent.

If I were alone I’d have wanted to tour the UN.

I thought the Red Cross museum was very well done and very moving.

Whenever I'm going somewhere and want to take a day tour, I always go on Viator and see what's on offer. I've had great luck with them.

We did a boat tour of Lake Geneva which was enjoyable.

Beyond that we mostly just walked around and sampled a lot of chocolate. We were only there 2 days.

I just wanted to update and say we decided on a train ride to Montreaux and a bus tour to Annecy (France), and both were absolutely spectacular. If this area isn’t on your bucket list, add it! I had the best time.

I took a boat ride across the lake to Montreux and from there visited the cute town of Gruyere. Best cheese fondue
