I like the way we do it now, because I feel for those who have to deal with this all the time. Every so often I run into connectivity issues in the train tunnel and the tweets don’t load for a short period. It’s sooooo confusing. It’s not a big deal since it doesn’t happen very often, but it must be a huge pain for those who face it regularly. (Also, I can understand that people may not want to switch to phone during working hours, because it’s a lot more obvious when people are looking at their phones vs looking at a non-work browser.)
I guess I’m a lurker who seldom posts. I get most of my American news from here and as I 99% of the time use my phone for web browsing I can’t load CNN or MSNBC and never Fox.
I also don’t have a sub to a lot of links that are posted for more interesting news articles which is a bit annoying for me as I can’t rwad them.
I don’t care that much because I don’t post tweets and I’m not on Twitter. But I would like to echo reputable sources and cut the nonsense. Twitter is not gospel. Just because someone posts it there doesn’t mean it’s true.
I am fine with Twitter. Neither my work computer or my phone has an issue with seeing tweets. But I agree that if it's not too much trouble, it's nice to post the text anyway for those who can't see Twitter.
Then again I don't use Twitter or post tweets so it won't change my behavior either way. I guess ultimately I think the person posting should be able to choose what they want to post.
Text or at least Twitter + summary. Nothing I can do about the firewall at work. Generally tweets get posted rarely enough that I just ignore them. But yesterday, that thread devolved into posting tweets and reacting by posting more tweets, with no summaries. When it's about breaking news or a critical situation, I find that problematic.

Also, I think more people probably lurk on this board for information (and to stay informed) than they do participate. I think removing the poll and potentially alienating them is kind of crappy. Sometimes I don’t feel educated enough on the conversations here to respond, but I do lurk all the time. Just throwing that out there.
