wanderingback and wildrice , have you read My Sister The Serial Killer? That was a good book and a fairly quick read. After reading an article I really want read Red At The Bone by Jaqueline Woodson.
I haven't read it, but I put it on my library holds list. Thanks!
tacokick and isabel I happened to head into B&N this afternoon after my work meetings and walked by the paperback copy. Flipped to chapter 17 and it’s wrong in there too!
I mean, how did no one notice this? I feel like I need to re-email her, but then I’m kind of being that person? But there’s a HUGE error in the book.

Bizarre. And how, as the author, was she not immediately calling her publisher? lol I would be freaking out.
I read the fucking WILDEST book yesterday, called Perfect Strangers by JT Geissinger. It started out as a fairly typical romance novel but turned into the craziest inception-level mindfuck I’ve ever read.

I took a long hiatus from reading actual books and then I got hooked on Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson author) earlier this year. So far I’ve read 14 of his books. Not bad even if they’re YA. I’ve also started an adult mystery series. I’m reading both of these right now (books 16 and 17 of 2019).
I finished Summer Hours recently and there is a chronology issue there too. A character references a Sarah Maclachlan song and it is years too early for it. It bothered me more than it should have. I just finished Mrs. Everything and Things You Save in a Fire. I stayed up late for both. I’m 11 books away from my yearly goal so I should make it easily this year. I just need to finish more and start less.

That’s really weird. I’d just email the publisher directly. She didn’t seem to care much?

I’M STILL NOT OKAY AFTER THIS BOOK.
Ahhh! I left for a concert right after the first twist. As I was standing there waiting for the band I kept reading on my phone. I was like “WTMF” OUT LOUD at the second twist. Then I was just like “no. No no no NO.” OUT LOUD at the final twist.
Oof. I mean, good for that author for writing something that people have such an intense reaction to. But dang, it messed with me.
We just started "Man in the High Castle" so I thought I'd read a little Phillip K. Dick. I hadn't realized how heavily of his writing centers on psychosis/treatment (even when it isn't explicit). I'm wondering if all of his works which have been adapted into tv/movies were heavily edited to purge the mental illness elements.
My goal was to read 12 books this year, all by Black people. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it, but I should be close. This will be the most non-school related books I've read probably since high school!
Any you've read so far that you really loved? My goal is to read 1/3 of my books by non-white authors, and I think I'm on track but might need another 1-2 to meet the goal (my goal is 45 books).
I went down an Octavia Butler rabbit hole the first half of this year. She should definitely be on your list.
(That is what started my current sci fi reading trend.)
