Well, it’s that time of year when non-crafty people (me) try to DIY my kids Halloween costumes! I’ve had success in the past so I’m at it again. One of my girls wants a simple, traditional Dorothy from wizard of oz costume. Most of the ones we’ve seen in store are sequined and satin and frilly and not at all traditional.
So my plan (with the blue gingham fabric I bought) is to follow an online tutorial for a “simple” circle skirt and then make and attach a simple bib front with straps.
Any thoughts, tips, suggestions??? Thank you in advance!!!!
Circle skirts are so easy. There are many calculators online you can use, but you may need to cut in 2 parts and sew up the side seam depending on your fabric width. Make sure you hang the skirt (use a hanger with clips) for a day or two before you hem it. Because of the way circle skirts are cut the fabric will strech unevenly (how much depends on your fabric). After a day or two, use your pattern to recut the hem and then stitch. If youre only using it for the one night you might not even need to do that.
