We have 2 nights and basically 1.5 days at the Dead Sea. Is it worth taking the 2d day to go to cross the border and do a day trip to Jerusalem or should we just enjoy Dead Sea? (these are our last two nights in Jordan).
I've been. We loved it, but didn't do the best job with our itinerary. I feel like we stayed too long in some places and not enough in others. We stayed one night at a nice resort at the Dead Sea and would have liked another night. We would have used the extra time relaxing at the resort and doing some hiking in the area.
Jerusalem is amazing, but there's so much to do. I think you are better off saving it for another trip when you can spend a few days there.
Are you driving? Google maps and regular maps were often wrong. So, plan to get lost a lot! I found the best maps were usually the ones in Lonely Planet.

Thank you. It is tempting to go to Jerusalem but I also feel like Israel deserves its own trip.
We have a driver, we've discovered in a lot of places you can get a driver for about the same cost as renting a car and driving yourself.
We did 5 days in Jordan in July as part of a Jordan/Egypt trip and still didn't explore Jordan as much as we wanted. Our Dead Sea resort was awesome and we could have stayed their for several days. Since it is the end of your trip, I would just relax. I highly recommend a driver. We had a wonderful driver who made suggestions and helped us plan stops between the destinations, but there was so much to see. I would save Israel for another trip.
The land border from Jordan to Israel can take forever. When we went through my DH got hauled off to some room and interrogated for over an hour. That might be rare for all I know, but I would pass and see Israel on its own.
