I just watched the second episode based on this post and it was so painfully boring and predictable. I’m trying, but it’s just so bad. Does it get better? I will admit baby yoda is adorable but that doesn’t make up for how boring it is.
I am SW diehard and I’m enjoying it. I’m the only person in my circle that doesn’t think baby yoda is that cute (but I really don’t appreciate cute in my Star Wars. I was never an Ewok or porg person either) but I like the show overall and I’m also glad that the large majority of fans enjoy it. Star Wars needs to keep some cool cache so they don’t stop investing in quality content.

I really want to pay attention and get into it, but I keep falling asleep (probably more due to life than the show...). I've watched the first 20 minutes of episode one like, 4 times. Last weekend I think I got through episode 3 so I'm still not totally caught up. I feel like it's kind of slow but I love anything star wars so I'm not ready to give up yet.
DH and I are big Star Wars fans but just think the show is OK. It's moving VERY slowly. I feel like keeping the helmet on is not helping to develop the Mandalorian's character. You can't be the strong silent type AND not have facial expressions. We are going to stick it out but I hope it picks up.
I disagree with the helmet hate. I love that he keeps it on. Its adding such a nice element and it shows how great his acting really is. You can still read his expressions without seeing his face. I also think the forced stoicism is a nice balance to the uber sweet Baby Yoda. Its a nice balance.

See, I think that's the issue for me. I feel like they are just banking on the cool CGI and Star Wars fandom to keep people interested. If you strip that away, there is not much left (yet anyway, I'm only on ep 2). I love Star Wars (or I least I used to, before it became so commercial I think) but the new stuff just isn't the same. Who knows, maybe there will be a big payoff soon...
I will admit the lack of dialogue is really hard for me. It gives me like an anxiety type feeling... I remember I made the mistake of watching Castaway alone in college and it was the most horrible experience because the entire middle of the movie is Tom Hanks alone and I hated it!

Same! The helmet/armor makes it. He's faceless, skilled, and faithful to this way of life. I've never once missed seeing his face. The actor they chose has amazing body language. In my mind's eye, I feel like I've already seen him.
He's the skilled, silent stranger who shows up to the frontier town in need. Space Wyatt Earp. I'm loving the trickle of his back story, but, quite honestly, I'd be totally fine with never knowing much about him. If he kept the armor on for the duration of the show, that's fine by me! Imagine never showing anyone your face and how painful but freeing that may be. That is deep, man!
And I don't think this spoils anything really, but don't read on if you want to watch episode 4 without knowing anything...
The answer to the question about what happens if he takes off his helmet (he can't put it back on) gives a lot more weight to its presence. He'd have to change his whole life! That's going to be HUGE when he does it (and you know he will!).

I'm sitting here. It isn't awful but it isn't particularly awesome either and seems to be leaning heavily on FireFly which was a lighter space western.

This perfectly describes how I feel about Daft Punk.
Even down to what happens if they take off their helmets
