If you have an astigmatism, do you prefer contacts or glasses?
I'm due for a new script and new glasses but I'm really on the fence about trying contacts again. I had them for 2 years and much prefer them but they're an ongoing expense rather than upfront and more work of course. When I had them I got eye infections twice, even though I was fanatical about cleaning them. I had disposables that were replaced monthly. The amount of waste is also a minor consideration, which means I would not go with daily dipsoable or anything like that (if they even make dailys for astigmatism).

I wear contacts. Mine are monthly, but I wear them until they die or become difficult to keep clean (seem filmy, gritty, etc.). I have backup glasses that I wear at night/on weekends when we're not going anywhere, but glasses drive me crazy. I feel like I'm always looking around them and not through them. I have better sight with contacts.

Yes, this is what I mean when I say I don't like driving in glasses. I feel like I can't see the whole road. LOL
I also use monthlies, but wear them longer than that.
I'm struggling with my vision at the moment and I think it might be BFing related. Hopefully once that's done my vision levels out and I can see again. Ha.
I have an astigmatism and use contacts most of the time. I have a cheap pair of glasses which I wear at home but I always wear contacts when I leave the house. A huge part of this is because I use sunglasses a lot and I like taking them on and off easily!
contacts. The ones I have I wear for two weeks and then replace. my eye Dr is always trying to push dailies on me but I haven't because of the cost and the waste/environmental impact. I only wear my glasses at night or sometimes on the weekends.

I’ve been wearing contacts for over 30 years. I rarely wear my glasses. I know that environmentally dailies are not great, but they’re really the only way to go IMO. I wouldn’t bother getting monthly contacts, especially since you’ve gotten infections in the past. Dailies are so much better for your eyes.
Wore glasses for years. Started wearing contacts in my late 20's. I had horrible astigmatism so I had to get super strength contacts. Eventually something changed with the manufacturer of the contacts I wore when I was in my late 40's, which made them thin and tore very easily. My optometrist recommended getting hard lens which I declined because by that time my eyes were getting drier (age-related) so contacts weren't as comfortable anymore. So I started wearing glasses exclusively.
BUT...the good news is when I had cataract surgery done 2 years ago, I had implants inserted that completely corrected my astigmatism...a miracle!! It was worth the extra cost (insurance only paid for the cataract surgery).
So what I'm saying is if contacts are too uncomfortable have Lasik surgery or wait until you developed cataracts and get the implants! LOL

I switch between both but prefer glasses most days. I have astigmatism lenses but sometimes they give me headaches if they're off by the tiniest bit. But I have dry eyes and they get sticky quickly and don't want to stay in place.

Same. I wear Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism.
I find that I can't wear them for quite as long every day as I could when I was younger, and I have to replace them more frequently (but still not biweekly like I'm "supposed" to). But I still hate wearing glasses when I'm out and about. I hate not being able to just put on sunglasses, I hate seeing around the edges, I hate how they slide down my nose and get sweaty when I work out... basically everything. And in my pre-kid life I was a triathlete, which I hope/plan to do again when my kids are bigger. Glasses + triathlon would be a shitshow.
I would love to do lasik and always thought I would post-babies. But I am near sighted in addition to my astigmatism, and as I get older the nearsightedness is lessening and moving toward reversing. The likelihood that I'd end up in reading glasses anyway if I did lasik is holding me back.
I have astigmatism in one eye and regular in the other. I wear dailies for the days I’m gone all day and biweekly if I need to just wear them for a few hours. If I’m home all day I just wear my glasses.

Contacts - I love my Biofiniti Toric lenses. I never could get total crisp, clear vision with regular lenses until a few years ago when my eye doc said my astigmatism was finally "bad enough" for the special lenses, and now I see perfectly.
I still see fine with my glasses on, but I only wear them when I'm home at night or if my eyes are bothering me for some reason, like when my allergies are really bad.
Glasses. Hard contacts didn't work for me, I build up a lot of protein. Same with monthly contacts. Daily contacts were the best but the astigmatism part wasn't great and apparently I have a weird eye shape so they would float around my eye especially with the weight from the astigmatism. If I didn't have astigmatism and a weird eye shape I would have gone with the dailies because the other ones got too uncomfortable for me. The dailies that allow oxygen through and are more breathable are more comfortable. Anyway, with all the issues I had with contacts I ended up getting Lasik, and I have loved that ever since.
I prefer contacts. I have astigmatism AND severely dry eyes so it took me awhile to find a contact that really worked for me. I can't do dailies at all because of the dry eye issue. The game-changer was discovering the Air Optix plus Hydraglide for Astigmatism.
They're so comfortable and I don't want to rip them out of my eyes at the end of the day. My old ones used to literally just pop out of my eye sometimes, that's how dry they'd get. I have never had that issue with the Air Optix plus Hydraglide. Plus I can actually see clearly. I love them.

Glasses - apparently I have like a double astigmatism one on one eye. I have contacts for special occasions but I never see perfectly clear through them (and they're special ones for astigmatism).
Contacts. Always. So much so that I had an ulcer on my cornea from over wear a few years ago. Do NOT recommend lol. I am soooo picky with my vision and despite having the same rx in my glasses, my vision is just not sharp enough in them.
My eyes are too bad for lasik surgery 😭 so my dream is to get IOL’s one day.
I've been wearing contacts full time since 9th grade (except when I take them out at night - I switch to glasses in bed, or when I'm sick). I've been wearing at least one astigmatism lens for 15+ years.
I think contacts better correct astigmatism, though it's harder to get a comfortable fit. I also hate driving at night and ESPECIALLY with my glasses. And actually, wearing astigmatic contact lenses has helped correct my astigmatism over time, though it kind of comes and goes. I got to a point for a year or two where I didn't have to wear astigmatic lenses.
I now wear the biofinity toric in my left eye and a regular lens in my right eye, both of which are monthlies. I'm around -6, give or take, in both eyes. I also have dry eyes, but they're perfectly comfortable. My doctor also recommends the Optifree pure moist line for contact solution.
Glasses. I’ve not been able to get a good fit with contacts but my astigmatism is worse than most
This is me. I wore contacts and loved them for 20 years. But recently I can’t get a good RX match with contacts and they give me headaches. So I’ve pretty much switched to glasses only now which is a huge bummer. My RX got worse either due to age (thx 40) or pregnancy. It sucks and I miss contacts so much.

I had glasses as a kid until I got contacts at 14. Had LASIK done 15 years ago and that got me to 20/40 and 20/20 vision. Sadly after having two kids about 5 years ago I noticed I had trouble reading my phone. I got glasses and just recently got contacts again. But I don't wear them every day.
BTW, some companies offer a recycling program for daily contacts. You can save the contacts and the containers and ship them in a box.
I have astigmatism, and it is well corrected with hard lenses. DH just had cataract surgery, and now has ditched the glasses he has worn for 50 years. He wants me to consider it, but for me to go with the corrective intraocular lenses, I had going to have to go without contacts until my eyes adjust to no contacts. That means glasses for several weeks......ugh.
I have astigmatism, I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 and hard contacts since I was 12ish. Sometime in middle school at any rate. Basically forever. I wear my contacts as much as possible, I see so much better with them. I wear Boston brand, or what used to be Boston anyway, I think the company got bought out, the contacts I wear supposedly let extra oxygen into my eyes to decrease that issue. I do daily eye drops for allergies but otherwise rarely have an issue. Glasses are for days I feel like crap, or right before/right after bed.
