We have a ~22h overnight layover. I’m looking for a hotel close to the airport (we have a noon flight home), but where we can easily get into the city to explore for the afternoon / evening. Any recommendations? I’m Marriott loyal but have CSR points to use for non-Marriott options if needed.

Honestly, I'd probably just stay in the city at the Marriott since you have points anyway. It is right at Leidseplein, so right near a lot of things to see and do. There is a bus that goes from the airport right to Leidesplein. It takes 30-40 minutes, but it should be easy with a noon flight anyway. Uber is also good here. Aside from staying right at the airport, I'm not too sure of the hotel options. You could also look up hotels in Amstelveen. It's a "suburb" of Amsterdam and sort of in between the city and the airport, but there aren't a lot of big international chain hotels in the town.

I stayed at the Doubletree Centraal Station when I was in Amsterdam at the end of November. The location was perfect-there's a direct train from Schiphol Airport to Centraal Station, it took about 20 minutes roughly, hotel was right across the street from the station then. And being the train station, every public transportation line (just about??) originates/terminates there too

Public transportation is terrific and frequent. You will be able to stay anywhere in the city center and you will be at the airport quickly and easily. From the central station you will be at the airport in 15-20 min. on the train.
