DH & I just celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary. In addition, he turned 40 last year, I turn 40 this year; so we decided it is past time to take a kids-free trip.
I'd love recs for all-inclusive resorts that match the following (or "don't ever set foot in this place!" feedback). Not really finding anything via the search feature: -Caribbean preferred due to flight times, but open to Mexico options -Adults only -quiet atmosphere (we don't want casinos or party nightlife) -private cottages a plus
We basically want to go somewhere we can lay in the sun (or shade), read tons of books and have uninterrupted dinners and maybe do some sailing / paddle boarding / kayaking
Still figuring out budget so open to any variety of options. Resorts I have been looking at range from around $700 to heart-palpitations-expensive. TIA!
Ti Kaye is St Lucia has most of your wants but I don't think they have an AI option-they might. Its been several years since we stayed there. The food and drinks seemed to be reasonable though. We have also loved the Excellence resorts in Mexico-there is one in Jamaica now too. Adults only AI.
My H surprised me with a long weekend at Excellence Play Mujeres in Mexico for my birthday. It was adult only so no kids around. He's a big researcher and said it had some of the best reviews on restaurants. The food was delicious. We had a fantastic time. Our room had it's own pool and was decorated for my birthday. We had an amazing time enjoying the evening shows and some of the events. I had never stayed at an AI before. I was so surprised at how many people would leave their phones etc around the pools to go swimming. The property was gorgeous and I would absolutely go back for longer than a 3 day weekend.

We love the Couples resorts in Jamaica, particularly Couples Negril or Couples San Souci. They don't have private cottages--well, San Souci has one private cottage but it is crazy expensive--but we've always felt like we had plenty of privacy.
Couples San Souci probably has a more romantic vibe overall, but the beach is much better at Negril and the resort at Negril is more compact, so when the lazy sand gravity kicks in, and it will, it's easier to get back to your room.
Couples is truly all inclusive, no tipping allowed, and people are treated the same no matter what level room you get. I love just putting my flag in the sand and the person comes around and takes your order.
As for price, it will really depend on when you go. After mid-Aprilish, the prices really drop for the summer until right before the holidays. We have always gone April-June, but we always get travel insurance in case of hurricanes.
If you do go with a Couples resort, you fly into Montego Bay and they will shuttle you (for free) from there--just so you know in case you are pricing flights separately.
We have booked through both Costco travel and allinclusiveoutlet.com.
I'm happy to answer any Jamaica questions. It's one of my favorite places on earth.
We also went to one of the Excellence resorts in Cancun for our honeymoon. That was a while ago, and it was nice, but a much larger resort and didn't feel as intimate and didn't have the Irie vibe of Jamaica. But I know people love them and they come highly recommended.
We went to Blue Diamond in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. We got a good deal through Costco, but not sure if it is still being offered there. The resort is an AI, adult only. No buffets, menu is a la carte and quit3 good. It is a small resort, only about 200 rooms, but intimate.
The Caves in Negril, Jamaica ticks all of your boxes. They’re located on the cliffs (no beach), but it’s a beautiful setting. If you were open to non-all inclusive I’d also say look into Rockhouse. In the near future I hope to stay at GoldenEye in one of their lagoon villas, but they allow children and don’t have all inclusive as an option.
The Caves has a nice special going on right now - pay 5, stay 7 with lots of fun extras!

We loved The Jamaica Inn in Ochos Rios. We stayed in Cottage 3 and it was beyond perfect. Totally private, large patio, plunge pool on the balcony...absolutely gorgeous. The beach is never crowded, the food is good, and the spa was amazing.
It’s definitely a place to go to just chill and read. No frills or fancy pools but we loved it.
