Can someone tell me how many caucus locations there are? I’m surprised that gymnasiums and bigger venues aren’t packed.
Is this the same as polling locations based on your address?
I'm pretty sure it's the same as the precinct where you vote. There may be exceptions, but that was my experinece in 2 different (but geographically close) towns.
Iowa is very white but I knew a whole bunch of amazing older women there who are absolutely Democrat. I've enjoyed seeing many of their Facebook posts tonight!

There are something like 1700 total caucus locations. My caucus location is NOT the same location as my normal polling location, but it is the same group of people who vote at my normal polling place (based on my address).
The locations that aren’t packed are probably really small towns. I live in a really tiny town (around 400 people) and we had 36 total people at our Dem caucus. Des Moines and suburbs all have really packed caucuses.
Results from my caucus (we are small and only get 2 delegates):
14 Buttigieg 13 Warren
Nobody else viable. Klobuchar came close but wasn’t viable after realignment. Small handful of Bernie people, one Yang, and one Steyer who all realigned. Zero Biden people.

This aligns with my experience and the stories I have heard.

All I can ever focus on during the caucuses is the fact that I’m 100% too belligerent to do it correctly. Fuck realignment! You can rip my candidate out of my cold dead hands!!

I would totally be the one who moves to undecided in hopes of reaching the threshold as a group, and prevent any more delegates from going to the top candidate.

I got....pretty belligerent in 2008 and may have left in a huff...in my defense there were over 1,000 people and it was a clusterfuck.
Warren, Biden and Buttigieg were only viable candidates at my precinct (affluent suburb of Des Moines). I left before I heard all the numbers but Pete had 81 and looked to be the winner. I too was pleasantly surprised by all the grandparent aged Democrats, this is not my personal experience sadly.
Suburb of Des Moines and my precinct had 5 viable candidates: Buttigieg ended up with 3 delegates. Klobuchar, Warren, Biden, and Sanders all ended up with 2.

There are now reports that the app that caucus leaders are using to report Iowa results isn't working. Nobody knows who owns the app and there were major security concerns
Now I’m irritated. Regardless of who wins, there’s a shadow over it. The app was having issues all day and no one knows who owns it?? WTF? Why the hell did we accept to use it??? Have we learned nothing? What a bad look.

That WSJ article is dated last week so they knew this app was shady. WTF.
Technology is great but I’m ready to go vote via horse and buggy and vote the old-fashioned way with paper. Or in those noisy voting booths where you pull the lever.
cant they just fall back to the old school method and call in to report their numbers? we literally watched the counting be done. what the hell were the paper ballots for if not for this

I think that's what is happening. The delay is because they're hand calculating the scores.
We’re going to lose this election to a guy who doesn’t know where Missouri is and who pretends to conduct the orchestra with his fingers during the national anthem. Because we can’t get our shit together. This is fucking pathetic.
Here’s how I feel: Idgaf about Iowa because will it even be in play in November? Sorry Iowans.
I am however VERY upset that Netflix has canceled Spinning Out which was total garbage but fun to watch. I’m now rewatching it in a commitment to avoid giving any views to Iowa caucus news. Caucuses are dumb.
Despite that my curiosity is piqued by the idea of an app that they don’t know anything about. Great idea. It reminds me of when TN decided to do all school testing online and the servers all crashed immediately as soon as testing began!
