I am the female precinct leader in my precinct and I'm curious if we'll be handing out literature about the presidential candidate in addition to down ballot races since KS is such a red state. Re-electing Rep Davids and trying to keep Kobach from becoming senator are the big ones. And then trying to get more Ds into our state house.
Yes. I’m in Kansas and keeping Kobach out of the Senate is my #1 priority. I will “vote blue no matter who” for President, but my money, time, and energy will go to the Senate race.
I also plan to volunteer to drive people to voting locations and do what I can with the early voting campaign.
Look, Bernie is terrible and we don’t have to re-hash why.
But fundamentally, we agree on the important stuff. He will advance a Democratic agenda.
Anything is better than the dumpster fire we now. The lives of people of color and immigrants are literally at risk. Women’s rights are at risk. The world is burning, literally and figuratively. We’re an embarrassment on the global stage. We have an unhinged, vindictive monster in the White House who only cares about his own personal gain. He worships fascists and dictators. And there’s a SCOTUS seat that could be up for grabs at any moment.
A monkey would do a better job — and be a FAR more benevolent ruler — than what we have now. Comparing Bernie and Trump is such a false equivalence, I don’t even know where to begin.
I clicked vote blue and canvass, etc. but if Bernie is the nom (no chance Tulsi will get it) I'd seriously consider my privilege. I'm in a *huge* Bernie state and there will be plenty voting for him with enthusiasm and just as many plugging their noses and doing it.
If he's the nominee and Tulsi is his pick for VP (there are a LOT of asshats out here that think she's just awesome) all bets are off. I don't know if I could even plug my nose and vote for that ticket. The possibility that he'd kick off and she'd be our first female president makes my stomach heave and head hurt. I'll likely do it but I'll have to have someone else mark that box on my ballot because I just don't know that I could do it without help.
I won’t donate, because in 2016 my donations all got refunded back to me. They’re not big enough to open the door to foreign donation investigations (which you know the Rs would gleefully jump on, since they’ve allegedly been doing it themselves). I will probably just donate to the PACs related to the issues that are most important to me.
So I kind of waffled between “like all the candidates” and “hold my nose.” I don’t love all the candidates, but I don’t actively hate any of the viable candidates. I align with a lot of Sanders positions and even voted for him before the drama in 2016. Given the damage he’s done to party unity, I don’t want him to have the nomination, but I will vote for him if he does. I’m more of a vote with a sigh than with a held nose.

I don’t have a source but have I read somewhere that Russia was found to have been spreading false info for both Bernie and Trump? And is there some reason that Trump doesn’t go after Bernie and, In fact, says generous things about him on occasion?
I mean, it could be worse than Trump. I’m not saying that Bernie for sure would be, but he is about as incompetent and ineffective as Trump. He has a ton of weaknesses that, outside of this board, nobody can ask him about without fear of being doxxed.
And I should say that I am not trying to persuade anyone here, I desperately want Trump removed. This is just about the only corner of the internet where I feel comfortable asking these questions. I’m a democratic voter who has canvassed and donated and has political aspirations of my own.
I just worry that Bernie will harm down ballot races and at this point I’d take winning the house and the senate and losing the White House.

There is a mom at my son's school who LOVES her. I know she doesn't like Trump but she has spoken positively of some of the stuff he's done (one of her huge causes is the sex traffickers and she said that this administration has done more towards stopping sex trafficking than any other - so.... she'll applaud him) I honestly can't really figure out her politics. She's seems liberal but then her love for Tulsi and her tolerance for Trump confuses me.
But I will be damned to hell before I contribute to Trump being re-elected. Ride or die blue or 3rd party (in texas my vote won’t influence electoral votes so I might make a show for 3rd party to keep that momentum option going, depending on who is nominated). 90 percent sure I am voting blue for potus.
I will canvass, donate, and call for whoever the nominee is. I don’t think Tulsi is a real possibility, and canvassing for Bernie would suck my soul, but I’d do it because 45* is so much worse. So much worse.
Yes. But I'm not going to lie, if for some reason we end up with Tulsi, that resolve will be tested.
This! I can't believe so many of you are suggesting Bernie is your worst case...worse than Tulsi, really?
If it's someone I'm really unhappy about I'll be putting a lot more of my energy into getting Gardner out of office, but I'm still not going to be complicit in giving the orange menace another 4 years.
Yeah, I'm honestly fine with Bernie in some ways. I doubt he'll get anything done, but at least he won't do the damage Trump will. I would have to think long and hard about whether Tulsi would be better than Trump. I would never vote for Trump, but I'd have a hard time voting for Tulsi, too. (And I'm in a purple state, TBH.)

I think I've mentioned this guy before, but my H and I have a friend who is a HUGE Tulsi fan. He's an outspoken libertarian (grew up in Orange County, visiting the Nixon library and reading biographies of Ronald Reagan) and voted Libertarian in the 2016 election. He loves her anti-war/anti-interventionist policy and thinks all the other candidates are war hawks.

I wouldn’t be so sure that TX is a forgone conclusion. Between companies from CA (and other blue states) relocating there and bringing employees with them and the narrow margin Trump won by in 2020 it may be more in play than you’re thinking. I’m hearing it’s a state the DNC is watching, if nothing else because if Trump has to actually court TX it reduces time he has to campaign elsewhere.
Bernie is not going to pick Tulsi as a running mate. She brings nothing to the table.
I will never underestimate his ego. He likes surrounding himself with sycophants. If this were 1950 he’d pick anyone who told him no one would be crossing the Yalu.
I’m pretty vote blue (or in his case bluish) but I’m afraid of who he’d pick.
I will vote blue no matter who gets the nomination. Because I can't handle 4 more years of this bullshit. I clicked on the choice that I'll donate, too, but I think I'll actually be donating down ticket. And, likely not even to candidates in my state. I'm in a solidly red state, and I think my money would do more good in other areas where it's actually a possibility that a Dem could win a congressional seat.

Well, she's not an old, white man. Of course, Bernie probably thinks none of that matters because he's the authority on everyone's issues, and the cause of all our issues is wealth inequality.
I'm in PA and I'm a democratic committeeperson so I will vote blue no matter who and I will also organize, donate and canvass. But the effort I put in will definitely be less if Bernie is the nominee compared to the others in the top 5.

At what point can a candidate decide to run as an independent? So if Bernie doesn't get the nom, could he run as an independent? Or could Tulsi, giving his supporters this year's Jill Stein? I know that the green party isn't selecting their candidate until July of this year, which seems convenient since the Dem nominee will potentially be decided by then.
I'll vote for any of the dems. I'll vote for a dead rat. I'll vote for a crumpled paper bag. I'm not voting for human garbage. As far as donating, the two I gave money to so far have dropped out. But it's looking like the senate race in NC will be competitive, so I'm sending money to Cal Cunningham. Tillis needs to go.

Any point. There was a lot of worry that Bernie would do just that last election, after the DNC.

While in theory he could, many states have sore loser laws, so if you’re on the ballot in the primary and don’t win you aren’t allowed to be on the ballot in the general. In some started presidential candidates are exempt, but I believe there are at least a few that include presidential candidates.
Yes. I plan to go to PA to canvass for the general (live in NY, from Bucks County, PA).
I also would like to go out of state to drive voters to the polls in disenfranchised area(s) since NY has early voting for the general now.
I work in Bucks, and that's a great idea. It's always very close. Brian Ftizpatrick (R) just squeaked by as House rep for PA 1 in 2018.
I was really surprised by Fitzpatrick's win. I really expected the redistricting to push the D over the edge. (I follow the local races because my parents are pretty into politics.)
I was home right before the 2018 elections and a canvasser came to the door for my brother's GF (they were living with my parents at the time). Turns out, she works with my parents - all USPS mail deliverers - AND my dad delivers their mail. The lady was like, "oh well I don't need to talk to anyone that lives with Yaga's Mom. I know the dem vote is safe here."
I know it's really tough in my hometown. It's deep red.
Very long time lurker here. I am active in the local dem party and will absolutely vote for any dem nominee ... unless it’s Sanders. If it’s him, I Will probably not vote for president (but will for down ticket races). My husband is the same. We are in a purple state.
ETA: I predict that if Sanders is the nominee the dems will suffer a historical rout
Why? For both questions. (and honestly, if he is the nominee and every dem thinks like you, then yes, he will suffer a rout and the US will deserve another gazillion years of Trump).
I ask this as someone who can't vote so I have no voice in this game.

I do not, under any circumstances, want to vote for Bernie fucking Sanders.
I'm in a solidly blue state for federal elections, which will go BS for BS if that's who the nominee is. If it gets to looking more purple than expected, I'd hold my nose and pull the lever for him.
I will NOT, however, pull my wallet out of my purse for him. Ever.
He's not a democrat, that's why. He doesn't show up unless he's showing up with his hand out and no thank you.
