The more I think about it, the more I may be willing to give of my time to Bernie but not my money. I’m not convinced that he’s not running a giant grift operation, and I am not interested in lining to pockets of Bernie and Jane, David Sirota, Brie Brie, or anyone else involved at that campaign’s high levels. I only have so much money I can give, and it will go to non-grifter candidates.
I wonder if Bernie would consider Warren as VP if he gets the nomination. They are not that far apart in their views and she could give a lot of reason and credibility to his pie in the sky ideas.
I want her to be the nominee but I could get behind anyone who picked her as VP if she doesn't get to run for President. If she would even want the job, i guess.
I will vote for whomever the Democratic candidate is because I'm not voting for Trump. However, I have never donated money to a political candidate's campaign and I won't canvas for anyone.
I vote. That's as far as I'm getting involved in this bullshit.

That's what my Grandma is hoping for. She prefers Warren but thinks Bernie is more electable, so she wants Bernie to pick her as VP, with the thought that there's a good chance he'll die in office. 🤷
I actually agree with this, and he definitely won’t pick Tlaib because she’s absolutely not going to play on a national level. Though I could see him picking someone like Yang, who could actually start developing himself and fleshing out some of those plans. He seems like a really good person who means well, but he’s not ready for the big league yet.
To be clear, this is not to insult Andrew Yang. He’s actually the best one besides Bernie, in my opinion.
You better prepare yourself for the fact he is not picking Yang and would likely pick a dreaded “establishment” type person.
I'm fully prepared. I know they researched the option for having Elizabeth Warren have a double VP and treasury secretary role, but probably not now. That would have been cool.

It’s also dumb AF. Picking her to be both VP and Treasury Secretary would basically be a tacit admission that she’s smarter and more capable than him.
Considering Bernie claims he can convince McConnell of Medicare for All by rallying the people of Kentucky, it’s clear that Bernie’s plan, if elected, is to do very little work and just hold a fuckton of rallies.

And yet another similarity that Bernie has with Trump. They are really one in the same.

I legit do not even understand how this is an appealing idea to anyone and how it doesn’t scream “I’m a dumb asshole who has no clue who should do what.” This is trump level bullshit, y’all. Having one person in two roles? Like...what? No. This is like Kushner solving Middle East peace and the opioid crisis or whatever nonsense. But worse because it’s two actual jobs.
Why wouldn’t you want to elevate and give experience to other people?! Surely there are others qualified and who need experience other than another 70 something year old progressive. My god.

I saw him make that comment in the town hall. He is so fucking delusional. He thinks people are gonna have a revolution over his med for all bullshit. You need votes and we likely won’t have the senate. Warren says the same thing though we have to fight for it. Ok but you need votes and no one is gonna rally to lose their private health insurance. I wish they’d get off this med for all train bullshit.
Bernie FUCKING Sanders isn’t even remotely the nominee and we are already picking his VP. FFS.
When Warren wins I think she picks Castro.
Given how much he’s campaigned for her and how much of his staff she’s hired, I imagine he’s at the top of her list. I think they’d make an amazing team. I just bought a bunch more Warren merch, and I’m going to start doing phone calls and texting as soon as my hand heals. I plan to canvas in my state when it gets closer, too.
My personal feelings about one Democratic candidate or another mean jack shit when compared to the consequences immigrants and POC will face if Trump is re-elected.
Also, Trump fired the entire team that Obama set up to respond to pandemics, and has not replaced them.
Also, the world is burning up but Trump is making it easier to pump fossil fuels into the atmosphere.
I mean, every single Democratic candidate is 1,000 times better than Trump.

I don’t understand why Bernie hasn’t been called out on this. He has not been the sponsor of much other than renaming post offices. How does he expect to get Repubs like Ted Cruz to vote for M4A?

So yes, I’m voting blue no matter who.
Yep. And I am a bit disheartened by the poll.
If a big group of well informed, mostly middle to upper class women won’t go do the work for the nominee, I am not as hopeful.

LOLOLOLOL you're more delusional the the most delusional Berner. She's absolutely done.
See? The Sanders marketing strategy in motion.
I know you're a troll, but scroll up and look at the poll. Most, if not all, of the no votes have a Sanders candidacy in mind when they clicked that button, and this is why.

What? Overwhelmingly people here are going to do the right thing. Contemplating giving money to or canvassing for a candidate you don’t like during a primary when your favored candidate is still in is obviously not going to be as high as it will be when this primary is over and we all can focus on the same goal.

The vast majority that responded said they’d vote for the candidate.
I think this misses a ton of nuance. Some of us live in states that won’t be in play and are near states that might depending on the nominee. Many of us prefer to donate to local candidates vs a presidential candidate. Some of us have very very important Senate elections (waves at Colorado contingent), or newly flipped districts that we want to stay flipped. That stuff is important too and Ds HAVE to maintain their momentum and the gains they’ve made. This presidential election is so important, but we also can’t ignore all the other elections taking place on November 3rd. Being pessimistic about how people approach that reality and insisting they focus on the presidency is ignorant of the situation at large, in my opinion. Fight for every seat and make educated decisions about how to best use your time and money, people.
Also I never trust a Berner’s political analysis of what will happen in any given moment. Their whole game is making large pronouncements about reality that are just based on fantasy. No candidate is toast right now. Except for maybe Biden. 🤪 But that’s still just a maybe.

For the folks in/near purple/light red states, I think there could actually be a lot of value to anti-Bernie people canvassing. If someone knocked on my door to say "I know you hate Bernie. I hate him too and I wish he wasn't the nominee. But we can do so much good if you still get out there and vote for the down-ticket Ds and hold your nose for him." I would do it. I mean, that's what I'm planning to do anyway but if I were leaning towards third party or staying home, that would sway me.

No, no, his supporters just think he's just going to use a lot of executive orders to get things passed. Or else all the neolib senators who don't support giving people healthcare will get voted out because Bernie will, like, go campaign against Amy Klobuchar or something and tell everyone that she wants people to die, so they should elect a true progressive.
And when I tell them that he can't wave a magic wand and change 1/6th of the US economy in a day because 1) that's not how executive order work (good luck in court if you try it!) and 2) he's not a dictator, they tell me I just don't know how the government works.
I will vote for the Blue candidate no matter what. If the candidate is Bernie, I don't see myself canvassing for him. I think there is a 0% chance that he would win. 0. So, I would rather focus my energies on flipping the senate seat in my state which is in play. I'm just being realistic and want to focus my energy where I think it will make a difference.
If Bernie is the nominee, he'll lose Michigan for sure. We have a democratic governor and both our senators are democrats, but our governor was elected because she's 1) rational and strategic 2) moderate in *approach*, meaning she's not in your face screaming about how we need to burn it all down, even though she is working for some pretty big changes 3) demonstrated an ability to work in a bipartisan manner.
Bernie is none of those things, and in fact paints himself deliberately as the opposite. He's shown he has no interest in working with others, and has an attitude of if you're not with him, you're against him. And this whole "revolution" bullshit? People here don't *want* a revolution. They want their jobs, their pensions and their healthcare. That healthcare used to be provided by companies, and some of it still is (albeit with less substantial coverage than in the past, but it's still there), but the idea of taking that away for* mandated* government-run healthcare will go over like a fart in church.
Will I vote for him if he's the nominee? Yes. But I guarantee plenty of people in MI won't, nor will they show up to vote at all, and we'll likely lose a Senate seat because of it as well if he's on the ticket.
Very long time lurker here. I am active in the local dem party and will absolutely vote for any dem nominee ... unless it’s Sanders. If it’s him, I Will probably not vote for president (but will for down ticket races). My husband is the same. We are in a purple state.
ETA: I predict that if Sanders is the nominee the dems will suffer a historical rout
Why? For both questions. (and honestly, if he is the nominee and every dem thinks like you, then yes, he will suffer a rout and the US will deserve another gazillion years of Trump).
I ask this as someone who can't vote so I have no voice in this game.
Because Sanders is just the flip side of Trump: a delusional, egomaniacal, grifter whose response to anything not going his way is to scream "conspiracy!", "fake news!" and the threaten to burn it all down if he doesn't get his way. Trading in a right-wing sociopath for a left-wing one will not only not stop the US's slide into a fractured, paranoid, utterly dysfunctional failed state, but will IMO hasten it, because the Dems (currently the only political party with any connection to reality) will collapse into a Sanders cult-of-personality, leaving the sane, moderate, fact-based citizens of this country with absolutely no where to go.
Also, to answer your question as to why Sanders has a snowball's chance in hell of ever winning a general election: Aside from the fact that there is no way in hell "moderate" dems and independents (and yes, there are still many of them out there) are going to vote for a guy who calls himself a socialist and wants to eliminate private insurance in one fell swoop, his history of involvement with the Socialist Workers Party alone will provide the fodder for approximately 10,000 attack ads. The guy hasn't yet been dragged over the coals of Republican opposition research, but if we ever get there, look out.
