I had to go to urgent care this morning because I don't have a GP right now (will register next week once we've moved). I began to have swelling and pain in my right jaw on Saturday and it's gotten worse today. They gave me antibiotics but also have to get in touch with the infectious diseases board of the NHS just in case - it could be MUMPS. Ugh. The GP didn't think it is but we can't figure out why I would have swelling there without any other visible cause. I have had the MMR vaccination when I was 19 but there has been a resurgence in mumps recently in London. Ugh. I'm home today just to rest (because the infection or whatever it might be is making me feel tired).

I am going home for my brother's wedding on Wednesday. Was planning on staying with my dad for the days leading up to the wedding. He called me last night and asked if I could stay someplace else (well to be honest he didn't even remember I was staying with him, like where the hell else would I stay?!). The reason he wanted me to stay someplace else? His cat had surgery and had been in isolation in the guestroom (he is no longer in isolation) and it would be too much stress to wash the sheets.
It's our last full day in Puerto Rico and I have no interest in returning to reality. I keep checking the weather back home in the hopes that the airport will be closed for snow but no such luck.

Ugh @msukyankee I hope you don’t have mumps!
I’m home sick today and feeling like crap. Mostly just trying to stay distracted so the time doesn’t crawl by. Lineup on Netflix and Hulu so far is Stumptown and The Magicians but I could be persuaded to go with other recommendations!
Speaking of illness, my H is such a child when it comes to being sick. He absolutely has valid reasons for distrusting doctors but when you have been sick for going on a month, don't you think it is time to go see one?
Can I vent here? This weekend has been an expensive ordeal. First we had a gas leak in the line to our fireplace, and the gas company technician shut off the furnace while he worked, which killed the circuit panel. We had to go stay with ILs on Saturday night because the furnace wouldn't come back on. So we got someone out to fix the furnace, finally, at 10:00 last night. Then we still needed a plumber to fix the gas issue, and the plumber discovered that our water heater and pressure regulation valve also had some issues and were on the verge of a catastrophic failure. So $2,300 later it's all fixed, but we're just waiting for another shoe to drop. Meanwhile my favorite aunt is in hospice, so we'll be taking a last-minute trip to Seattle soon, which will also be $$$.
mrsukyankee, hope you feel better soon and that the move goes well!
I inject myself every other day - I have 6 sites I rotate between, most of which are easy but my left arse cheek is always the hardest. I had to inject there on saturday and didn't get it in smoothly so now I have a very sore arse. Which as I have a desk job without a standing desk isn't good!
I'm road tripping to SC with six people I've never met to canvass for Warren this weekend. I'm equally excited and nervous. I've never done anything like this!
Thank you. It is frustrating because I feel like this behavior is new (the past few years), he just seems like a different person and its hard. I guess he is 84, so maybe part of it is that, I don't know.

DH has a second interview on Thursday for a new job. His current office is closing in April and it would be fantastic if he could line something up before then. Please send some happy thoughts!

Leftie is my problem side too. I’m sorry you’re having bum pain, it really sucks when you have to be sitting all day. I’m not sure if yours need to be IM, but I’ve had luck injecting much higher than one would think. Sometimes it still goes in wrong but the lingering pain is a lot less in the area where I sit, which helps some.

This one is the stick it into fat rather than muscle! So my bum tends to be a good area as I have more fat there. But it's just so awkward trying to reach and inject on that side as I'm right handed. Thanks for replying - it's nice to talk to someone who gets it!!
I was in Brooklyn over the weekend and stopped into a cheese shop to see if they have a goat cheese I love, Bucheron. They did not.
So I got a piece of Brillat Savarin instead, which was really good. It was like eating soft butter.
www.murrayscheese.com/brillat-savarin (also a good cheese shop but it’s in Manhattan so I didn’t stop there yesterday; they had the Bucheron last time I was there so I have to get back there soon to get some more)
The clerk recommended monte enebro instead - I’ve had it before and it’s fine, just not as enjoyable as Bucheron to me. The ashy rind is too much.
My local Whole Foods up the block has monte enebro currently, which is where I bought it after seeing it on Barefoot Contessa (also where I saw Brillat Saverin); and they had Bucheron a few months ago but I haven’t seen it since, boo. I check every time I go. I could probably ask them to order it but I eat way too much cheese (and etc.) anyway so it’s probably best that I don’t, lol.

H gave me a beautiful pair of earrings for Christmas that I absolutely loved. I was wearing them today running errands all over the place, and I suddenly realized that one was gone. I retraced my steps but I couldn’t find it. I’m so sad.
Has anyone had their hardwood floors refinished? We want to get it done this summer but I'm just overwhelmed thinking about moving the furniture/appliances out of our kitchen/living/dining rooms and having to move out for a week while the work gets done...but I'm so so so tired of this carpet.

We did. A few weeks after moving into our house we got the upstairs done (long story as to why we didn’t do it prior to move in, but it was mostly due to the sellers pushing closing back repeatedly). I won’t lie, getting everything down from the second floor and back up wasn’t easy, and I got everything down entirely by myself (turns out moving dressers down a staircase alone isn’t as hard as I expected). But the results were so worth it. No more allergen-ridden carpet in the bedrooms and the floors are gorgeous! Well worth the hassle!

mrsukyankee, Ugh, mumps? I hope that isn't it and it's just some bacteria after an aggressive flossing incident. (I might have had that before. ) karinothing, because washing sheets after the cat is tough? Not a super welcoming excuse, huh? Sorry. seeyalater52, feel better - I too have heard Magicians is good, but haven't seen it. carmenere, so expensive! I'm glad they caught those other issues early, but unexpected house repairs almost always suck. mbcdefg, I'm jealous of your cheese shops. The most exotic cheese around here is from Costco - not kidding. Yum!
My random - I forgot how much I like celebrity gossip. I know that is dumb, but I listened to some podcasts on Megan and Harry, then watched the Oscars yesterday and I loved that mindless fun and thinking dumb things like, "Celebrities... they love their moms just like us."
Oh and today sucks and I'm in trouble with a client and my boss at work...

OMG I found it! It fell out of my ear and somehow ended up in my coat pocket. What are the chances?

We were going to, and then we got another dog, lol. Somebody loves to chuck their ball around and chase it all over the house. Oh well.

I just realized what G-Pal is standing in front of here. LOL!!!
I swear every time I see her vagina replicas I think of that one episode of Everyone Loves Raymond. "It follows me wherever I go."
I need this year to slow the fuck down. Every single week is a mad rush of urgent deadlines and firehoses. I'm exceptionally glad I put one day of PTO per month on my calendar to get those mental health breaks locked in.
Also I wish I would have come up with the idea of Pop Sockets.
