Does anyone remember a viral video where someone was in a car and pulled up to an intersection of about 10 different highways, and the GPS read all of them in one shot?
DH has a second interview on Thursday for a new job. His current office is closing in April and it would be fantastic if he could line something up before then. Please send some happy thoughts!
DH just called - they offered him the job on the spot and he's taking it. It's a huge salary increase and he'll be working from home once he's done with training and such.
I could cry. This is such a relief. He's hated his job for so long.
This is a serious first world whine. We got back from a 9 day trip with a cruise last Saturday. This Saturday I'm leaving for a field trip to Disney World. I love going there, but I'm a smidge traveled out right now.

Congratulations to your DH! That's such good news for you both!

Has anyone had their hardwood floors refinished? We want to get it done this summer but I'm just overwhelmed thinking about moving the furniture/appliances out of our kitchen/living/dining rooms and having to move out for a week while the work gets done...but I'm so so so tired of this carpet.
Yes, it was a huge pain, but worth it. We timed it to happen while we were on vacation. Then you also need to factor in all the cleaning you will need to do for the dust. One of the contractors that gave us an estimate was willing to move everything for an extra charge. You may be able to find someone to move the furniture.

I was going to say that my brother and I helped my Mom get hers refinished while she was on a month long trip to a Japan. They had booked kennels, movers, a Pod storage container, and the refinishing in advance. We had to move out the cats and the dog, supervise the furniture being moved to the garage and the storage pod, and then check in with the refinishers. Once it was dry, we had to get the movers back in. The refinishing took longer than expected, so we had to deal with rebooking the movers and the kennel.
They live in a 2500 sq ft bungalow which is entirely hardwood. It is designed for accessibility (original owner was in a wheelchair). Unfortunately you could see tracks in the hardwood from before. Their previous dog had also made things worse. It needed to be done but was pretty expensive and super sucked for my brother and I to deal with. Also my Mom had to pack and unpack everything like they were going to move. All pictures, all decor, etc down to the basement. Everything except for what was in the kitchen cupboards. She even took down the curtains because of the dust.

My insomnia has gotten ridiculous. I got two hours of sleep last night between 2-4 am, and that’s become a pretty typical night for me over the last couple of months.
I have done all the sleep hygiene stuff. It doesn’t help.

I feel your pain. I teach about sleep hygiene and it's not working for me. Between excitement stress and perimenopause, insomnia is kicking my butt.

I'm useless at dressing up. One of my new friends in my new town has invited me to a girls' night out for her 40th birthday. It's a fancy-ish BYOB, so no jeans (which are what I wear 99.99% of the time -- work is casual). I feel like all of my dresses are either too casual or too fancy.

Are you sure jeans won't work? Like nice jeans, plus a cute top with some sparkle or another something something, maybe a blazer if you want to channel your inner @nitax and cute shoes.

redheadbaker, I agree with wawa. I think you can wear jeans (dark or black) with a sparkly top, blazer or not and some cute shoes (I'd wear boots with heels, most likely, or a pair of mid-height heels).
The H and I did some door knocking for the Warren campaign this weekend. Lots and lots of undecideds here. Everyone is definitely voting in Nov, but the current field is so large that they don't know who they want to vote for.
We got a Trump voter who said he was going to vote for Bernie in the primary (TN is an open primary state, you don't have to declare a party here). And we got a moderate Dem who said she felt the party moved too far left and for dang sure wasn't voting for Bernie - that she'd vote for Trump 1st. I tried to tell her don't give up on the party yet, and take a look to see who is more moderate (we know that ain't Warren). She likes Klobuchar, but is scared Klobuchar is too leftist as well.
It was an interesting experience, and we'll be back out next weekend to canvas.
