Klobuchar edged out Buttigieg in Concord for second place. Impressive.
I like Klobuchar’s surge because I do like her, but no matter how she does I think she had to devote so many resources to IA and NH that I’m not sure there will be time for her to build much momentum in time for NV and SC. We talk about Buttigieg’s lack of POC support but Klobuchar is no better.
I think she’ll start amassing the Biden/HRC cohort as the writing on the wall becomes clearer. Hopefully some of the light Pete support too. Still amazes me that he’s where he is. There’s going to be so much to fix and we’re going to send in the mayor of South Bend? Pffffttttt.
Now I’m curious about NH people. What’s the story?
I will preface this by saying I have many friends that live in NH and it is a beautiful state with a lot to offer. Buttt they like their guns, NASCAR, and motorcycle rallies. This is in very stark contrast to the rest of NE.
I’m in N.H. and none of my family and friends like any of those things, thankfully. Northern NH is pretty different from the more liberal southern/seacoast area.

And yes, I don't want to paint NH with a broad stroke. The south/seacoast is clearly a different demographic than the rest of the state.

I think Warren is going to hang on through super Tuesday. She may believe that those of states would have more of her voters. She may also think that the race is still going to be evolving fast. While Biden in slipping in SC oddly enough Steyer is rising even though he's not really tracking nationally. Buttigieg also has a lot of ground to cover. The polling in SC and Nevada is old so it is really hard to tell what is going there.
It isn't clear there is going to be front runner from the first 4 states, more of an evolving wheel of who is on top. It seems like almost 7 candidates will be viable going into super Tuesday: Klobuchar, Buttigieg, Warren, Sanders, Biden, Bloomberg, Steyer
Blah. I just got my ballot and have no idea who to vote for. I’m leaning Klobuchar, but does that mean I’m potentially giving Bernie more steam? Because I’m not cool with that. I honestly don’t feel great about Warren vs. Trump.
I will say, Warren’s team seems to be amping things up in Colorado. I just got an email about the opening of a local office and asking me to go knock on doors.

Literally this. (Said as a new NH resident who moved here from VT! This is exactly how I think of it lol)
I’m truly feeling nothing about this. I think I’ve reached the point where my favorite candidates are out, and I think almost everyone left (almost) would choose good people to surround themselves with. And, most of their agendas will ultimately go nowhere with McConnell in the Senate.
Am I excited? Nope. But literally any of these people is not Donald Trump. That’s all that matters to me right now. And, from what I saw somewhere about exit polling, a lot of people feel that way.

This is also why I’m not worrying myself about turnout. I feel like a lot of people don’t want to or can’t make a decision now but are ready to vote in November even if the rest of us give a tree stump the D nom.

Do candidates ever pick a running mate before becoming the nominee at the convention? I honestly think knowing the whole ticket would start some quicker consolidation.
I’m VERY vote blue no matter who - but knowing running mates would definitely help me choose for the primary.

I was wondering about this as well. I know some Republicans picked a VP before the candidate was final in 2016.
MSNBC is showing a lot of Amy's speech. I missed Warren, did they give her much air time?
I wish Biden would drop out sooner rather than later but he certainly did not sound like he was dropping out any time soon.

I feel like this happened? Maybe on the R side in 2016? Off to google.

Warren spoke quite a while ago. MSNBC showed like two minutes of it and then came back maybe 20 mins before Amy to show that she was still taking selfies with anyone that asked.
The two minutes they showed were basically her saying “It’s clear Bernie and Pete are doing well here, but we’re not out and we’re still going strong, etc, etc...”

Warren on MSNBC referencing Susan Collins when talking about Trump. Awesome.
Also, the whole thing about candidates from neighboring states is weird. Trust, no one from New York is gonna vote for someone from New Jersey just because they’re our neighbor, and the opposite certainly isn’t true either.

I think it’s more media markets. If you share a media market your message gets amplified.
Out of curiosity are there any recent head-to-head polls from the battleground states?
I’d also be curious to hear about voting methods in a place like WI - are there paper ballots?
I live in PA. We have a democratic governor who is in a second term. He just expanded a lot of voting rights - much longer early voting period, no roadblocks to request an absentee/mail-in ballot, etc. also, each county basically had to redo their voting system last year - my county has paper sheets you bubble in, then watch them scan it, then you get a little tear-off receipt. People are mad that it takes awhile, but it’s a solid paper trail. (But my county is blue anyway.)
I’m not sure if Tony Evers or Gretchen Whitmer have had time to implement better voting methods, honestly.
With the number of amazing democrats that started off in this race, I honestly cannot believe that the current two front runners are Grandpa Heart Attack and the literal embodiment of white male privilege.
I know it's still early and only like ten white people have voted. But I'm struggling to see a path out of this mess, given how fractured the rest of the vote is.
Thinking about someone like Kamala Harris or Stacy Abrams as Pete's number two makes me cry. At least Biden is qualified.
