Any suggestions? My PTA is hosting an internet safety family night and we'd like to have some door prizes.
So far, I have: - 2 wireless chargers (Belkin) - 2 portable battery chargers (Morphe) - 2 Echo Dots
I'd like to have 4 more things and keep each item to $30 or less BUT it's also sponsored by Google so I'm thinking maybe 2 Google Nest Minis (on sale at Office Depot, kicking myself over how cheap they were around Christmas), and then 2 items that appeal to kids that are closer to $20 each. Any ideas?
My plan is to let winners select their prize as they are drawn so I'm trying to choose items that have broad appeal and are at least regiftable.
Off-topic, but how did you get this grant? I'd love to put something like that on at my school.
National PTA has lots of grants you can apply for. The deadlines are typically in late September, I think. It was extremely easy; I just had to answer a few questions about how this would benefit our school community. You do have to be a PTA in good standing to apply. This particular grant was for $1000 plus the printed materials needed for the families. We also got a few other cool extras.
We got this same grant! I think more portable battery chargers would be good. They’re a hit with everyone and I feel like you can never have enough.
When is your event? I’d love any tips! This is the first one we’ve done like this and I’m running it 😬
Ours will be on the 27th and it’s our first too. Unfortunately I’m not the one running it, so I didn’t even know door prizes were a thing!
The person running ours said she got all the material and how to present it. So it seems like we just need to figure out food and activities? Not positive but if ours is before yours, I can try to remember to report back!
I think 6 door prizes is enough. Use the rest of the money to kick up the food offered. Too many door prize announcements and people lose interest. (Unless you plan to spread them throughout the night.)

We had ours tonight. It was pretty easy! We got good feedback. My recommendation is to print out the presenter's notes at the bottom of each slide since otherwise you can't see them in presentation mode.
I provided markers and chart paper to each breakout session leader. The kids wrote their answers to "An Internet ____ kid will... " on the chart paper in each group and loved coming up to present to the whole group when we came back together.

I will pass some of that on to the organizer redheadk. Did you get a big age range of kid attendees? I’ve been wondering whether my Kindergartener is too young to take to it. These kinds of things can be boring for the really young ones!
