Another vote for Pillowfort from Target. DD moved to a big girl bed a year ago and I bought a sheet set and comforter that matched her room from there. Add a warmer blanket for winter and boom we were done. Easy peasy and it’s very comfortable. She’s always adding some random fleece blanket to the mix though!
This seems so bizarre to me. As soon as my kids switched from cribs to toddler beds, I bought them sheet sets with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillow case. And then when they switched to actual beds (ds twin, dd full), I bought them comforter sets and 3 sets of sheet sets (could get by with 2, but I like options, and now they each have about 5 because they like flannel/fleece sheets in the winter). sually from Target or Walmart), and none of us like microfiber sheets, so the rest are all cotton or flannel.
I think it's awesome that you could afford to do that and I'm sure your kids love them. Not everyone is in that position financially, and I don't think that's "bizarre."
DS has 2 sets of sheets and a simple fleece blanket. He had a nice red comforter (that he selected) and used it one time before saying it was “too big.” He has a full size bed, and it’s a full/queen, so he has a point.
I, too, dislike microfiber sheets. I prefer “The Big Ones” sheets from Kohl’s. They’re pretty basic as far as patterns, but they’re affordable and wash nicely. DS chose the same pattern we have on our bed b/c he thought that was cool for us to all have the same sheets.
Seems this is another thing done differently in Europe vs the US
Typical here is a fitter sheet over a mattress protector, and a pillow case and duvet cover set, with a down duvet inside. In kid sizes everything washes perfectly at home.
We have the same on our bed, minus the mattress protector the down duvet gets washed out of the house every so often as we don't have a dryer big enough for it.
IKEA is definitely the most affordable option and they have nice designs for kids and adults.

Ours are from Overstock, Pottery Barn, and HomeGoods. All have held up well. Make it easy and get a complete set that comes with a comforter/quilt/duvet and pillow shams. Some even come with bedskirts, though I have always bought those separately online (if your bed needs one).
Go to Target, buy a patterned/printed comforter that they like, done.
My older DS doesn't sleep with a flat sheet. It always gets pushed down to the end of the bed. I was the same way as a kid. He just sleeps with his comforter, but it's a queen size on a double bed. It stays on him nicely and keeps him warm enough. We got it from Target.

I'm pretty sure the toddler sheet set was like $10 from Target. And twin sheet sets are around $20 when not on sale.
I get that people's preferences differ in terms of if they want a blanket, weight of blanket, if they sleep under a comforter, duvet, quilt, etc., but I really just thought it was standard that whatever is on TOP of your bed, underneath is a sheet set of a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillow case. So my comment about the post being bizarre was that the OP didn't seem to be using sheet sets, not about number or what goes on top of it.
But from other posters, it seems like flat sheet is optional for many, which honestly is not something I would have ever thought of. Like I have never slept in a bed that didn't have a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillow case underneath whatever was on top, so thinking that there are lots of people out there whose beds don't have that is kinda blowing my mind lol.
Here is what I would get. This would be "normal" type bedding. I would go to Target, b/c they have cute stuff that is pretty cheap, especially if you get it on sale.
--Zipper cover for their pillow (pillow cover), for extra pillow protection. --mattress pad to cover the mattress. Waterproof but not crinkly. I mean, you probably have this already, right? --Sheet set that fits their size mattress (twin, or full/queen). You buy a package that typically includes a fitted sheet that goes over the mattress pad, a flat sheet, and a pillowcase. Pillowcase goes over the pillow cover. I strongly prefer cotton sheets so I would buy a cotton set, but they also have a lot of cute ones in microfiber. I just don't like how light and slippery the microfiber ones are. --blanket that fits size of bed. --Comforter set or bedspread. Many come with/coordinate with a pillow sham that goes on an extra pillow that sits on the bed to look pretty/more finished during the day.
If you go to Target, to the Pillowfort section, you can find all the coordinating bedding stuff that you need. The plain pillow covers and mattress pads will be a few aisles over.

DS has a mix of solid-color sheet sets and character sheet sets (Minions and Pokemon). He also has a Pokemon blanket and a Minions blanket. He also has a weighted blanket.
What he actually uses for sleeping at night is a fitted sheet, and the soft Halloween throw blanket from Target, and about a billion stuffed animals.
Sorry all!! I was just searching for beddys bc I went down their rabbit hole today and now they are stalking me with targeting advertising!
DD has a Beddy's set at her insistence. My sister got them for my niece and nephew (twins, they share a room) because my niece is really into making her bed, dd saw it, then begged and begged for it. Anyway.
It's okay. You can kind of see the zipper but it's not the end of the world. You can technically wash it in one load but I have trouble getting it to dry that way so I wash the top and bottom separately. My cleaning lady does not love this (because it takes up so much time) so I typically don't have her wash DD's sheets, which is a pain. DD really loves it, though. On the other hand, my DD pretty much refuses a top sheet so her duvet cover needed to be washed frequently (since it double as her top sheet), and the Beddy's set is much easier than dealing with that.
I would probably not give in if I had it to do over again. I don't know that it would make it easier to make up a loft bed. Getting the zippers situated would just make it hard in a different way, though probably easier for a kid do make their bed on a day-to-day basis.

Thanks for this info. How long have you had it? How is the quality? I don’t care to spend $$$ on something that will last. I’d be pissed if it’s crap.
We bought DD’s full mattress from Nectar and it came with one set of white sheets. I bought a second, pink sheet set from Target.
She has one floral pink comforter from Macy’s, and my mom bought her another comforter with happy face candy and cupcake characters on them but I don’t know from where.

The quality is fine. The zipper is a good zipper. Really disappointing about the owners, though
We've had ours two or three years, something like that. I got the all-cotton ones because I hate minky in a sensory way, and we got white because I prefer something neutral. They've held up well.
My kids *still* have to be told to zip the beds. "Did you zip the beds?" "Yep!" No. They insist on sleeping with piles of blankets on top of the Beddys and they just pull those up and don't zip anything so it all still looks sloppy most days. I like the look of the Beddys, my kids just refuse to let them serve their purpose and look nice. At least this way everything is on the bed, I guess. They used to end up with piles of pillows and blankets on the floor and it drove me so mad I used sheet clips with the flat sheets to no avail. Not a knock on the product, but my kids' lack of follow through. I led them to water and they still won't drink.
From a business standpoint, the owners are the kind of people who post IG stories of their Chick-fil-A the day after CFA has gotten heat about their donations and they're 100% silent about social justice issues.
I can’t believe another company hasn’t done their own version yet. They seem to be the only company that does.
