I currently work an office accounting job, but the company I work for was recently bought out and I’m looking for other opportunities. Does anyone have experience with working remotely? If so, is it contract work or with one company? Can anyone recommend specific places to search for this type of work? I’ve looked on Indeed and similar sights. I am a CPA with lots of experience, and I’d like to see if there are options out there with a little more flexibility. I am so burned out where I am now! I would appreciate any advice

Flexjobs.com has all kinds of remote positions; there's a subscription fee but I think there might be a 30 day free trial (it's been a while since I've been on there).
I work remote M/W/F and go into the office on Tues/Thurs (not accounting, but I work in Legal and all of my contracts are online). My employer is a Fortune 500 company and while my position didn't have a WFH option at the beginning, it's turned into that due to the company culture and awesome leadership. More and more large companies are realizing they have to get creative to hire and retain good talent, and that includes people who don't want to relocate, want flexible schedules, etc.

When I worked in higher ed I worked from home some and could have done more if I'd asked. It's not unusual for me to see accounting positions in higher ed that are 100% remote. I recently changed back to state government and am working on plans to allow my staff to work from home 1-2 days per week.

I work for one of the Big 4. I started last year, and I’m on the tax side (manager level). I work 100% remotely and have since I started. I’m a CPA and have been working in tax since I graduated in 2007, but I’d never worked for a Big 4 until now. It’s been great as far as flexibility is concerned. A lot of the people on my team don’t work 100% time, but I do. It’s been a great experience so far.

Wow, this is great information! I started in public accounting but left because I traveled so much. Thank you!
I'm in the exact same place. I actually left my last position and am looking for work now. I would love to work from home.
Question for any of you - I have an option to interview for a 100% wfh position. However it would end up probably being $10k less than I'm targeting for pay (only $5k less than where I was at my last position though). Would that be worth it to you?

You have to figure out what it costs you to work in an office-I would include gas, car maintenance, eating out, appropriate work attire, time value of the commute- and balance it with the costs to work from home-increased utilities, food costs etc. I mean the extra conveniences of no commute and being able to do small chores around the house etc is worth a lot to me, but you should consider the other things.
