Henry Spencer decided he did in fact want to share a birthday with his oldest sister and arrived at 11:55am on Valentines Day.
We started the induction by being admitted to the hospital just after midnight on 2/13. The original plan was to start with cervadill overnight and then kick things into gear with pitocin the next morning like we did with my second and it worked AMAZING. However, the midwife on call decided not to do cervadill even after my protest, and having set the plan to do serve cervadill then Pitocin with my midwife in the office. I was still -3 and very thick. We started pitocin at 6am and I labored all day, unmedicated with very little progress. At 6pm they came in and gave me some scary sounding options to break my water just before being called to the OR in an emergency. I called my nurses and told them to turn off the pitocin and we made a plan to start over with the cervadill that night as originally planned with pitocin in the morning if needed.
Overnight my cervix softened fully and dialated and by morning the cervadill had put me into labor. After breakfast then an enema, the midwife broke my water and our sweet boy was born an hour later.
I’m so glad i got the labor I wanted minus the “false start” but baby is here, happy and perfect! I’ll try to post a picture later!
Congratulations! I also went into labor with cervadil when I had DS. Sorry your rocky start but happy you have your squishy little one to cuddle with now!
