Where do you buy kid earrings that are moderately priced but not junk? My daughter wanted earrings for her birthday. Sensitive earrings from Claire’s or Justice are a fail (we will not buy again) because her ears get infected. So we have to go with shops that have only sterling silver or gold posts.
Is there anywhere I should look aside from piercing pagoda? My searches aren’t coming up with much. Kohl’s says they have them but all the reviews are similar to “the post broke in a few days“...help! Thanks!!
I have been looking on Amazon. My DD is at the point where she can change her earrings but I’m nervous about her ears getting infected. I bought one pair of sterling silver that should be delivered today so we will see how it goes. I also looked at large jewelry stores like Kay, but the reviews weren’t great.
Is it possible the ears just don’t like the metal? I can only wear real gold earrings (not even sterling silver) or my ears turn res and itch like mad. I had other friends who were sensitive to nickel in the earrings that way.
This meant I really only had one or two pairs of earrings. I would get new ones for a birthday/Christmas so eventually I had choices. But in the beginning? I had one set of studs.
EDIT - sorry, my point is that you need to go to real jewelry shops now. And they will be pricey because of the quality of metal.

I have a nickel allergy. When I was in high school I got CZ 14k gold studs at Walmart. They weren’t expensive, maybe $20. Now that I’m an adult I have upgraded to real diamonds but the CZ worked great for my high school & college years.

So I also have always been sensitive to metal in earrings, and after pregnancies I also developed a gold allergy. The only metal I can wear regularly now without a reaction is platinum. So for earrings, I can wear them for most of a day, but they always itch and I can't wait to take them out. For my dd, I haven't determined yet if she has the same sensitivities that I do, but I have noticed for sure that if she wears cheap earrings and leaves them in for more than like 2 days, she gets red, itchy, and irritated. She got her ears pierced at a kids' salon called Sweet and Sassy, and they had lots of options like Piercing Pagoda that were high quality and she could leave in indefinitely, but they closed. So my dd has 3 pairs from there, and 2 from Piercing Pagoda, and then a million pairs from Claire's and whatnot. My rule is that if she wears one of her 'fun' pairs, she has to take them out at night. If she wants to leave them in indefinitely, she has to pick from one of those 5 pairs that don't bother her. At 8, she can now change her earrings herself for the most part. I often take them out for her at night, but she can put them in in the morning. And we still clean her ears with the stuff we got when she got them pierced when we take them out.

Check on amazon for reasonably priced ones. I only use gold for my daughter because I can only wear gold regularly. (I can usually tolerate sterling or stainless for a day here and there). We also have gold earrings for her from fortunoff children’s jewelry, but they are pricier.
Not exactly what it asked, but have you painted the studs with clear nail polish? This always works for me with earrings that I’m otherwise sensitive to. They used to sell a product for this but I haven’t seen it in years, but clear nail polish works fine for my metal sensitivities.
My ears always got infected with earrings, it didn’t matter what I did or what kind of earrings I wore. I also can’t wear my wedding rings because I get major eczema on my hands. I had allergy testing done and I’m not allergic to any metals so I don’t know why it happens, but it just does. I just stopped wearing earrings, that solved the problem. Probably not what you want to hear... my oldest DD has the same problem when she wore earrings so she stopped also and her holes closed up.
My sister was allergic to something and could only wear like 14-18K gold posts or she would get a reaction and then infection. She eventually grew out of it and can wear whatever now, but for a long time, she only had like 2 pairs of studs.
I have to wear stainless and have had good luck with the Prim Rose pair I got at Kohl’s this Christmas season- after having trouble getting my earrings through my holes at Thanksgiving I decided I should get a pair of basic studs to hold them open. I picked a larger stud but have had it in for over two months straight (sleeping, showering, etc) with no post breaking issues. I think the “regular” marked up so they can mark it down price was like $30 but with a 60-70% off sale and 20% off coupon they were more like 10 bucks.
