Anyone have any good recipes to spruce up brown rice? I had one last night with some herbs and craisins in it. And I think some sort of nut was in it. It was delicious.
I as always make it plain or with broth and its fine but would love some recipes with more flavor but still healthy.
I’m not a huge rice person, but brown rice cooked with curry powder, almonds, and raisins (which kind of swell up in there) is one of my favorite ways to eat it.
I have nothing to add to this except for I love the frozen brown rice from Trader Joe’s. However brown rice is higher in arsenic than white so I try not to feed it to my kids super often.
I have a rice casserole that I make with long grain white rice, but I wonder if you could use brown rice? Anyway, a cup of rice, one can of beef broth and one can of french onion soup. Add a pat of butter and you bake it covered at 350 for an hour or until liquid is absorbed. It is really nice as a side with flank steak or similar.
I make this pretty often. Cook the lentils and rice separately, otherwise the lentils will get too mushy. Otherwise, it's perfect as is. You can get harissa sauce at the grocery store. It's so good.
I cook mine in a crockpot with a little rice vinegar to make it a little sticky and roll it in seaweed squares (little ones, not the sushi size sheets), add rice shake on top with sweet chili sauce, or make rice balls with seaweed strips, sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
