Weekend was pretty good, but busy. DD had the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition on Saturday. Her team competed against 14 other teams, so we weren't too surprised that they didn't get 6th place or higher. They were kind of disappointed, but I'm honestly glad to be done with it. It was a weekly practice from October - February, which is a long season. Right now, she says she wants to do it again next year, but I'll ask her again once the new school year starts.
DH did our taxes on Sunday, and we're getting a bigger Fed refund than usual, partly due to DH's job change and overpayment to Soc Sec. But I'm ok with that this year, because that means we have more than enough money for food and souvenirs for our spring break WDW trip and should be able to pay a few thousand $ on our mortgage principal to pay it down. (I'd love to have it paid off by the time DS starts high school so I can go part-time or take a career pause while the kids are in high school.) And DH's bonus should be enough to pay off our travel trailer, so that will be nice to have one more thing paid off (and we can use that monthly payment amount to put on the mortgage).
I have no idea what this week will be like at work. So far each week has been different. (Today is week 4 at my new job.) The kids have normal activities this week, but we have parent-teacher conferences this tomorrow, so that will make tomorrow evening a bit more hectic.
This weekend was supposed to be my downtime weekend since DH was working, but it didn't turn out that way. Volleyball Friday, and I was sore all weekend. I haven't played in a while. Skit practice and watching the game Saturday. Took the kids to the movies Sunday. Call of the Wild was really good, except, we probably should have not taken DD to a movie about dogs. She likes them better than humans.
I spent all last night dreaming about having to get up. So now I feel really tired. Hopefully not too busy of a week as far as work. DD is super excited to get her braces Wednesday.

I passed my test!!!! It was so much harder than my P&C test, but I'm sure it's because I haven't taken any sort of test in over 8 years and I didn't have the amount of time to devote to studying as I did 9.5 years ago for my P&C license. I remember going to class, then going to Target afterwards a few times since I was staying at my moms and she only lived 20 minutes from class, and STILL having a couple of bright eyed, fully awake hours each night to study. A married mother of 2 with 2 hours of drive time did not have that much time lol.
I left the kids at MIL's for a bit afterwards so I could decompress/paint our stairs. I was too wound up to take a nap like I wanted, so I painted. The kids and I took it easy that night since DH was back at work.
Sunday we picked up groceries and worked around the house. DH caulked our windows since the house is old and drafty. I did laundry and painted. DD entertained herself while DS worked outside with DH. DS even swept out his booster seat and DD's carseat in both vehicles. His idea. Apparently he's tired of being a dirt ball.
DD's party on Saturday was a hit. The kids all had a great time and it was the easiest party we've ever done. DS (3.5) even skated for about an hour before he gave up and hung out with some of the other parents that weren't skating, and DH and I got to skate together for the first time in ages.
Yesterday I took DD on her first "real" hike. SHE LOVED IT. LOVED. At one point she turned to me and said that getting to go on big hike like that was basically the best birthday present anyone had ever given her and my heart definitely melted. There were no complaints, no excessive requests to stop for water or slow down. She made it about 30 mins and suggested we turn around and that was that.

After the auction melt down I was so relieved that Saturday was a free day until a friend's birthday party in the afternoon. That party was REEEEALLLY fun. It was at a ninja obstacle course and DS was really great about trying to do the obstacles, which is out of character for him. He did the warp wall over and over and over until he got close enough to the top that one of the facilitators could catch his hand and help him climb up. So great. Also on some rings he fell off and was really angry and sad, so we walked around and went to the bathroom and got water...but then he just went back and tried it again and was able to do it. It was neat.
Then Sunday I did my long run before cleaning the house and getting ready for as classmate of DS' to come over. This isn't one of his best best friends, but I think they did have a good time. The only downside is normally DD will play with DS and his friends, but she immediately didn't want to. I had tried to text a classmate of hers to have them come over, but the parents just never responded. I'm going to try a different kid next time and hope for better results.

This weekend was a bust. Friday beau and I had a big disagreement. Saturday was wasted because I had a migraine that I couldn't shake. Sunday was ok, but still didn't do much. I wish I could have a do over for the weekend.
It was a nice weekend, although I spent a lot of it with PMS.
Work be going something like this: I have an idea, someone makes me present the idea (with no warning) even though it probably won't happen and is 2 years off. Have another idea, do not share with class because again 15 other things have to happen and I am in research mode. Someone makes me present unfinished idea again with no warning. Repeat 15 times because someone has no patience to wait. Various meetings where I am grilled like BBQ meat.
Someone says draw up these plans (I can't because it is all hypothetical space- no measurements nothing), so then I draw up what I can in the space we do have and am told we don't need this. I come up with a list of what we need space wise, and am told I need something different, and I also need to move stuff that I am not responsible for, and are not in my department. So fun.
Also get called into someone's office and chastised because their staff messed up, and they don't want to admit it, so they pretend it was my staff's fault. More grilling like BBQ meat.
After the longest day ever on Friday (present to client in Houston, fly 3 hours back home, work out, take DS1 to bday party, DH take DS1 to tball while I pick up two other kids, tball team dinner), the weekend was pretty chill. We hit 3 different playgrounds, I got a nice nap on Saturday, and got to sit in the sun and read my newspaper for a bit yesterday.
Monday be Mondaying. On of my reports has said that he can't do one of his new assigned duties due to health issues. He is in his 70s and this was his second career after already retiring. He has had it pretty easy, while the rest of us have taken on more. We finally ran out of people and he had to be pulled in, and now says he can't. He says he may retire. It's time to go. We have all picked up slack, at some point it's time to know when to go. Except now we are screwed because we have months worth of events line up and no one to do it. Some our own fault because no one will listen that you can't have 3 people quit and just absorb all of the jobs, but what do I know.
Weekend was okay. I worked both days. DH had fun golfing with his boss and DD and I actually got home early than he did on Saturday. Sunday DD came to work with me but only brought books so was bored. I totaled her read at home minutes last week Mon-Sun and she had 799 minutes and I'm guessing that isn't all of them. She had no school Monday so read a good chunk of the day and again yesterday.
It is going to be a very busy week as DD has stuff each night this week.
The weekend was such a good regroup. I always feel better after a weekend with my family. My kids were great, we were outside in the sun a ton, visited with my aunt and uncle and cousins. All around just the break all three of us needed, especially before my big work trip.
Today I got my taxes done and will be getting a totally unexpected big refund. That refund means I can pay my folks back for divorce legal fees finally and not have that in the back of my head. (I couldn't afford the divorce because every dime to my name was in joint accounts so they loaned me money for it.) They haven't asked for a dime back yet, but I am finally financially stable enough to be able to give them the cash and not stress about it.

I have a very busy week, with Tuesday being peak chaos, and I am not looking forward to it. Plus H is OOT again! Working for Saturday night, date night this week, for sure.
On the happy news front, my mom called wanting the kids to spend 4 days with her and dad over spring break. So I’ll get some extra time to myself and with H, we are thinking of having a board game afternoon, and they’ll have a ball with their grandparents.
As far as the weekend goes, we got our youngest all signed up for Kindergarten (yay!) but I also got food poisoning (boo!)
