Having lived in the south in a home with vaulted ceilings and no attic, I really hope they have a powerful AC unit and a roof with adequate insulation.
That said, their place will surely be lovely and that area of the state is very cute. I've enjoyed her insta stories with all the oaks, palms, and palmettos... makes me miss home.

Oh my gosh, the street median that has like a little pool of water running through it! So cute!

There are a couple of planned communities in that area that are very picture-perfect. I kind of prefer the more rustic/quirky bits of FL coast, but that's just personal preference. I think Seaside was where they shot the Truman Show (?), if that's any indication of the level of perfect-ness it's supposed to look like.
I live in CA and have no lawn equipment and really love my garage. Most of it is seasonal decor, some overflow pantry stuff like waters and emergency food, bikes, gardening supplies, camping chairs, cleaning supplies.
They just posted before and after shots of the new house and talk about storage. There's a small attached shed and they'll also store some things under the house.
They've really done a lot with it since they purchased it. The exterior looks fantastic. It's still not the location for me, but I think they'll do a great job rehabbing it.

The outside looks so much better and it looks pretty big for a small house. I can't wait to see the right now inside because the kitchen is not done and I am curious about the kids' rooms. I think they will definitely get a few years of content out of this and I hope they do a good job.
All the "has Sherry thought about x" is making me lol. The entirety of their blog/podcast is about thinking, planning, explaining, over-explaining, and defending every choice they've ever made.
Heh, she had to explain that everything meets code. I swear, I can't read comments anymore, they're so predictable.
They turned off comments on their blog. Sherry used to moderate each one individually on her own and they said when she had her breakdown/shut down the blog, that they decided no more comments.

And whether they were worried about their 6 and 10 year olds climbing over the second story balcony. Like, what? And that they’ll have to watch younger kids up there. Um, duh? People are weird.

It’s really cute. I was kind of cringing about how defensive she already sounded about some of their choices but I guess she knows a lot of their readership gets heated about these things, lol. Like the no screen thing. Maybe they are the type of people who don’t get bit much? My poor son is a bug magnet but I know some people aren’t much bothered by mosquitos.
the outside looks great, I couldn't tell though, which side of the house is the area where the pool will go?
I think it is going off of the side with their daughter's room....so opposite side of house from the master.
Yeah based on the picture with John, there's a turquoise house on that side and in other pictures, that house is on the left when you're looking at the house.
It is looking awesome! It is so weird to me that there are people out there who spend time messaging them such inane questions. 1. It is not your life, who cares? 2. Their kids are not going to climb over the deck. Good lord. 3. They make a living doing home stuff. YES their stuff is up to code, and why do you personally care whether it is or isn’t? It is so strange to me how people think they deserve to have so much access to them and know every single detail.
I love the median in her stories and now I want to live there. Too bad I am not a millionaire blogger!
I don't get the master in the living room. I don't want to be in pjs looking out at a utility truck/where foot traffic can see me. Covering those windows on the doors negates their beauty.
Well they're planning on putting a patio out there with a barrier or screen of some sort, so I don't think the view will stay that way for long.

Now she just does it on insta instead. Not sure how that’s better

I don’t understand why she responds. I read through the comments on Insta about the blog post and all the questions were either clearly answered in the post, invasive (like, no, she’s not going to fucking tell you their exact town), or snotty shit like “I can’t believe Florida code allows horizontal rails on a second floor deck.” Jesus, get a life, people. She should really just not respond to 95% of them.
Did anyone see on their stories they posted something about George Floyd? I was (pleasantly) surprised because I don't remember them veering even the TINIEST bit into anything that could be considered even a little bit political or controversial before. Obviously this shouldn't be controversial or political, but ykwim.

This was notable to me, too. And shame on anyone who is not shouting this from the rooftops to make calls, write letters, take a stand. Looking you, piece of trash Katie Bower.

She recently deleted a comment of mine on a Facebook post. It was totally tame, I'm guessing she didn't like the way I described the color. I rarely comment and was quickly reminded why, lol.
It's totally boring, lol. Which is why I was annoyed that the comment was deleted. And, I'm nervous someone is going to go find that the comment still exists and out me here. Never underestimate the sleuthing skills of GBCN. LOL.
deleted
The comment was not remarkable and I was not offended. We all know things are heavily moderated, but it's such a turnoff when bloggers quickly delete any comments that don't support whatever they're trying to market.
ETA: PDQ as I will eventually delete this. Just in case someone gets bored enough to go looking to identify a forgettable, sporadic poster.
Do you think they deleted the comment before yours since it was negative (about the yellow not matching?). Any subsequent replies (if they are staggered) would also be deleted. Also, did you see the reply that they wrote and if it was directed towards you or to the poster asking about the yellow accents? A post has follow up comments and you can reply to those comments separately but you cannot reply to the replies separately, KWIM?

I think I follow. I did not see their reply to determine whether it was to me or the original comment. I saw the notification come up, but didn't click through right away. It would make a lot more sense that they deleted the questioning comment, not my mundane reply that probably even defended YHL a bit. It's also entirely possible that the comment thread went downhill and/or the OP deleted their own comment and it had nothing to do with me.
I also noticed some other negative-ish comments disappear and it rubbed me wrong. They're as much about protecting their brand as anyone else.

I’m glad this was bumped. Because of this thread I started following these guys and I kind of love them? They seem to use space similar to how we do (we only have 1 TV in our house and it’s not in any of the main living areas). We have several spaces set up for conversing and spending time together in general.
