We’ve been self isolating for over two weeks. I have since then been to the store by myself (I have taken my oldest and left him in the car just to get him out a bit and he’s old enough, but he doesn’t come into store). As a family we have gone for hikes so we drive and hike daily. The hikes are pretty remote and rarely see anyone - if we do everyone has been mindful to give a lot of space.
dochas I'm not an expert but don't think you are supposed to get to the bomb shelter fare until you are actually sick. We shop when we are down to having 2-3 weeks of food in store. I am aiming now, as things are ramping up in our area, to have enough on hand to not have to go out for fresh food (meat, dairy, cheese, fruit/veg) for at least two weeks, maybe three though. It helps that we are a family of three with two freezers, so plenty of frozen veggies and fruit. Then I stock up on things fruit like apples and oranges, which can stay fresh for a few weeks.
I'm being very cautious since DH is 51 and a cancer survivor with only one healthy kidney and DS has scarring from recurrent pneumonia and is prone to respiratory things. (He is 9 and has had pneumonia half a dozen times.)
ETA: DH and DS do take daily walks. Our neighborhood is spread out and it's rare to see another person walking and every easy to cross the street to avoid them. We also have a creek with lots of woods behind our house for them to explore and a fenced yard + deck, so it's easy to get outside without having to go to a park. We are really lucky in that regard.
I still have to go into work. Other than that, I went to the grocery store on the 18th. The last time I did something “nonessential” was on the 23rd when I had a 10 minute body scan at my gym. Before that, it was the 13th when I got a pedicure.
I work for an essential business (defense contractor) so I leave every week day. My H is WFH and he left yesterday for groceries. Before that he had been at home a week, except for dog walking.
I work from home but went to the family doctor Friday for my Tdap vaccine and have an OB appointment on Tuesday.
We usually play in the yard but let DS ride his scooter up and down the street yesterday. We practised social distancing and didn’t approach anyone else, crossed the road when anyone was walking on the sidewalk.
My H works in essential services so he works M-F out of the house but thankfully doesn’t come in contact with anyone.
I live alone. I went grocery shopping last Monday, and could have made it two weeks, but I volunteered to do some shopping for a friend with a medically fragile child, so I will be out again tomorrow.

I haven’t left my house since I got home from work 3/12, 16 days ago. DH has to go to the office periodically and is doing our shopping once a week. I have about 1 sobbing, emotional breakdown a week, mainly because I’m very medically vulnerable and terrified I’ll get it.

We have gone hiking several times. We do grocery pick up, but I need to go to the store for a few things today. We have continued to do take out or delivery 2-3 times a week. We all go outside everyday. When it’s raining, we hang out in the garage with the door open.
I’ve done lots of food pick up. I went into Target once last week for allergy medicine, but haven’t been inside any other businesses since March 13th. I’m doing pick up or delivery for groceries and doing way too much shopping on Amazon.

Thank you - it's hard to find this new normal and wondering, could I be doing more? I've wanted to make sure we have what we need in case we get it and can't go out at all. I've also made big batches of things when cooking and froze some portions. I tend to do that in the winter anyway, partly in case we get sick and can just pull something out for dinner. So that's not anything new. We're living parallel lives, too! Family of 3, extra freezer. We don't do much frozen fruit, but I have vegetables. I've just been making sure to get fresh so we haven't hit the frozen yet. Lots of potatoes, apples, oranges that will last. Fortunately I got all the Easter basket stuff when I started thinking the schools would close. It will be good to have something normal for Easter, at least. We usually host.
My last day of work was March 17 and I’ve only left my house to hone in the backcountry/ walk through town, and to go to the convenience store once. My H did a big grocery shop (normal amount lol) last weekend and he’s been for gas once.
I don’t understand people still doing take out. I own a restaurant that I closed before being ordered to and never entertained the take out option. The chain of transmission there includes origin of order (so many people), order pickers, delivery, receiving, prep cooks, line cooks, chefs, dishwashers, order takers/packers and janitors. There is absolutely NO WAY I could keep my customers safe under these circumstances. 🤮
There are a lot of really huge parks right in our area. Not playgrounds, hiking and walking places and gardens. I don't know why they're more crowded on the weekend, because few people here are going to work.
Oh I know this. Its probably because many people are working from home online during the week and kids are doing school via distance learning. At least thats my situation. I am online from 7a to 5p every weekday. I can only get my kids outside to these places in evenings and weekends. I hit the shore yesterday because it was cool and cloudy so I knew it would be "light" crowds for a weekend. Sucks but it's the only time I have to get them out and about
So after not hitting a store for weeks I had to go to 5 stores today to find 1 x 6 pack of toilet paper!! I also called a bunch of places before even trying any in person. I touched nothing except the actually toilet paper in the last store and the keypad at self checkout and I grabbed a sanitary wipe on my way out. It was ridiculous.

You must live somewhere that is still pretty open. Our gyms and salons have both been closed for weeks now. Or, maybe it just feels like weeks. Lol.
I’ve worked at home since 3/19. Since then I’ve grocery shopped once and went through 2 drive thrus. I also picked up a Target curbside order.
My bf has been off work since 3/18 and has also grocery shopped once and gone through 2 drive thrus. The trickier part is we have 50/50 custody of his kids. They are isolating at their mom’s but she is a nurse and continues to work. So I don’t know how that counts for our exposure.

Last time I was out and saw people was Monday when I donated blood. I went to my office today to grab some files I needed but the whole building appeared empty, no cars in the lot and I didn’t see a soul

Our SIP order was announced when I was at the gym doing my scan. Classes had already been canceled for a few days.
As of yesterday we had not left for 15 days. Neither had my mom who lives next door. I’ll admit now that we have all gone that long , we had dinner at her house (but we ate outside and she and my step dad ate inside).
I think it’s ok to see them in their home at this point, you guys can quarantine together.
I thought we'd be able to do this with my parents, who live within walking distance, at this point, too. Both households have been social isolated for more than two weeks. But my mom says she won't see anyone "until this is over." I said, mom, what if this goes on 18 months? And she said, even then. She thinks since we're both getting groceries delivered (contactless) and getting the mail and packages, we could still have it. She's also convinced that we're (me, DH and DS) all asymptomatic carriers. I questioned this and she said "Dr Fauci says so." 🤷♀️ Yet she and my dad still go into the bank every week. LOL.
Also, the idea of actually being quarantined with her would be awful. Thoughts and prayers to my dad, y'all.

No, we try our best but live in a very populated area, so even walking to the car might have us walk past someone although we try to keep 6 feet away. Two weeks is a huge stretch for perishables for us, but of course we could survive without them if we had to for longer, ie. Milk.
I got carry out Wednesday. I just placed an order pickup at Target. We need cat litter. I’ll pick that up today. We might do carry out once again this week, and I’ll need to grocery shop next weekend.
Oh wait- I also had to pick my car up from the body shop Friday. And we did a socially distanced walk with friends Friday.

We get carry out once a week and I go to the grocery store once a week. The first week DD2 had an ear infection and then a suspected amoxicillin allergy so we also went to CVS twice for meds.
We have done drive through RX pickup with no contact at CVS and pickup for groceries at Kroger. The last time I had personal contact with anyone outside my home was March 10th.
I go for a run about every other day, I've taken my kids to big open fields to fly kites or climb trees, we've gone for hikes, we go for family walks around the neighborhood. We've done pick up from local restaurants a few times (getting delivery tonight) and try to only go to the grocery store once a week/10 days. We're doing the best we can for living in center city.
