Cuomo took away our Spring Break. His thought is that the optics are bad if teachers take a break during this time, and if we want state funding, we have to keep working.
Is this for all NYC? I googled and couldn't find anything.

For real??? Shit. ETA: Not the NYC DOE, but that still sucks.

Not exactly COVID-related, but with all the working at home, I bought two pairs of lounge pants from Target yesterday. They're "Stars Above" (one of Target's new brands), and they are the COMFIEST, SOFTEST PANTS EVER. Lightweight, too, which is nice as the weather gets warmer.
Private courses are technically closed and no cart rental available. Public course has all facilities closed and no cart rentals, but it's public land and so they have signs up with COVID-19 precautions reminders and people can walk on and play if they want.
Interesting. I called our local public course (it's an LA County course) late last week and asked, and they told me they are closed.
I'm guessing if you called here they would say "closed" but they weren't technically open for the season yet (too early in Montana). But, there are no fences around it, so people use it to ski on and walk on during the winter. Every year before they open, people walk on and play golf also. So it's not really open, but I think that is why it is not technically closed and the city put up the signs to remind people to be safe.
This is happening all over. We can't test everyone - feasibly. I know two people who were diagnosed without the test and I know several people who got the test and were negative. Oh and one who had zero symptoms, but had to be tested to return to critical work since that was company directive... and she's positive (recently flew to UK - 4 weeks ago).
That's a good reminder that we can't test everyone.
The extra sucky part for her is that apparently work will let you have the paid time off while sick with this without having to use your PTO. But you have to produce positive test results.
That does suck. Oh and private doctors and local health departments are testing areas for non-emergency members also in our area. So maybe she should try one of those instead. I hope it works out for her.
Omg the VA SIP is until June 10. It doesn’t even go far enough. Explicitly said golf is ok. Forbid classes at all universities but that hasn’t been the issue - issue is that Falwell kept dorms open.

I have several pairs of the joggers. I’ve been wearing them almost exclusively for a while now.
omgzombies , H is works construction and he would do anything to have his jobs cancel right now. He is really close to quitting over it. Because the MD governor said it’s up to employers to decide if they are essential, and his refuses to close.
Not quite the same, but an acquaintance of mine owns an Italian restaurant and they’ve been having success selling cook at home packages and vacuum-sealed cuts of meat.
Someone I knew in high school has a family steakhouse. I think he's the 3rd generation to own/manage it. They've been selling meat with apparently good success. They have a pretty loyal following because there aren't many places in S FL that can claim to have been in operation for 75 years.
They were shut down for a fairly long time a couple years ago due to a massive fire. It's also S FL so hurricane shutdowns for long periods have happened, too. From his POV at least they have power and suppliers, so for now they're optimistic about weathering this.
I took the afternoon off work and planted my garden. Because the sun was out and I needed to be outside. I also really want to go for a drive right now. Where? Nowhere. Why? Just because. Not get out of the car or anything. Just go outside my neighborhood.

Also, I called my psychiatrist's office, and left a voicemail, hoping to discuss adjusting my meds, because I'm not really coping well with the shutdown, working and having all the daytime childcare on me (since H has to be on IT support calls all day).
The receptionist called back to tell me to schedule an appointment I already have one scheduled four weeks from now. I pay out of pocket, and really can't afford to pay for two appointments so close to one another. Especially since I know there is a big COVID-related announcement coming at work sometime this week. I don't think it's layoffs but it doesn't sound like it's good news.

That's really helpful, thank you. I've literally been sick over the thought of stopping and the impact that has for families. I know so many people worried about their rent and groceries, and I hate the thought of adding to that burden. But I really think it's for the best.
omgzombies, well, we are in a unique situation, in that we would be find without his paycheck. Especially if we are canceling all vacations this year. But chances are, other people aren’t thinking like that and will still want work done. H is renovating offices, “since no one is here!” 🙄

I know a few have mentioned contacting farmers and restaurants directly. Where I am currently there were a few facebook pages put up in the last couple weeks to facilitate this, so you might try seeking those out. My landlady told me about them, but after I joined the groups I saw they were linked to by various local government and tourism pages as well.
Fishermen are still selling direct as are farmers. My landlady was telling me people are selling from their own fruit trees and not price gauging. Restaurants and food stalls and carts are skipping the delivery services and selling direct on a limited basis. For those of you in coastal fishing towns and ports, it might be worth a gander to a marina if that's permissible to see what's available. Bonus: once this is over you might still have a direct line to fresh catch.

I know here residential construction is not authorized with a few specific exceptions (to avoid damage and/or unsafe conditions, etc.). Personally I wouldn't want to skirt the rules.
How in the hell is Trump not sick? He's been exposed SO many times and he's not ill yet? Why?? Why the fuck not, Universe?? (screaming here so my neighbors dont' hear me.)

Our union just told us that Cuomo said it’s for the state and would include NYC, but I couldn’t find a link either. I’m waiting to hear more from them.

I want to like joggers, but I'm pear shaped and I feel like they accent that.
We had to move up dh's doctor appointment to tomorrow because he's having an issue. It's an outpatient procedure in the office in the outpatient side of the hospital. A lot of the medical staff go back and forth to the inpatient side though and I know the main doctors work in ER often.
I'm kind of freaking out about it but it really is necessary. We're lucky they will allow me in since he needs help getting around/isn't mobile enough on his own. Usually mil helps too though, so just me is going to be hard.
I'm trying to think through any particular practices I should keep in mind, like make sure my hair is pulled back because otherwise I'll want to keep pushing it out of my face.

Link? I need some! Bonus points if they have pockets!

We have no such prohibition here in VA, at least not that I know of.
In case you thought that the people who complain about nonsensical shit would pull their heads out of their asses and stop complaining while real shit was going down, I'm here to tell you that you thought wrong. One of our resident assholes continues to asshole about stupid shit.
I've stopped watching live. All you need to know will be on social media or cable news afterwards. No need to give him ratings so he can brag about it later. and somehow even if he keeps showing what a disgrace he is, the fact that he's on the screen daily is keeping his numbers stable in the polls. I don't want any part of that.
