We’ve gotten quotes on replacing our fence and I have major sticker shock
That shit is so expensive! Half of our fence was down - some fell, some a friend pulled down to recycle into another project, and it was still over 5k! I was like, “They know we’re a LCOL area right?!?”
I went to the store today! I haven’t left the house in 21 days so it was weird. I know I am always an Aldi fan but they really had a ton of signs up telling people what six feet looks like, new plexiglass shields between you and the cashier and they only let one person load the belt at a time. They also had apparent hot ticket items like flour, yeast, toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning spray. I didn’t notice anything missing at all. The stock was lower than usual but nothing was totally out.
My husband went to Weis and said it was a wreck and mostly empty by comparison.
This is good to know. I had heard they weren't doing much, but that was probably at least a couple of weeks ago so I'm glad they've stepped it up. I have a grocery order in at Harris Teeter but I'm fully expecting it to be a huge disappointment (since I ordered everything Monday afternoon but can't pickup until Sunday night - I am guessing everything will be out of stock by then). If I'm missing too many items I will go to Aldi on Monday!
Yeah, Aldi sent out a press release about the updates a week or so ago and apparently they went right up. It’s the only store in the area I know of that is really doing anything. I know nothing seems to have changed in any of the area Giants, Targets, or Weis and they seem to really empty of most items at least according to my vast network of shoppers I have reporting back to me lol

Even the “cheap” option of using pine is $6500! We are off a busy road and I know our fence looks crappy but damn. We need to save for like a year to afford a new fence so we don’t use up savings.

We are about to do ours and I'm not looking forward to the price tag. Technically, we only have one side to do. It's common here to split the cost with the neighbor who shares the fence since they are on the lot lines. The neighbors who are on the other side of the fence we own are jerks but our fence is the only fence around their pool (legally required here) so fingers crossed they pay for part of it since they use it.
