And how did that go? Seems like the experiences are all over the place. From full refunds, to out all their money. Who was your vacation/air travel with and what did they do about it?

We have a cruise booked for Aug 1 out of NJ. We live here and do not think it will be over by then. We are going to reschedule it for next year. We only paid the deposit so we are not losing anything.
We cancelled a (driving) trip to Big Bend National Park. We were lucky and all three of the places we were going to stay (had one booked directly, one through AirBnB and one through VRBO) gave us full refunds without a fight and without me really even asking.
Spring break - rented a condo on the ocean via VRBO. They were a nightmare to work with. Up until 2 days before we were supposed to check in they were basically telling us "tough luck". It was owner dependent and ours wasn't willing to work with us. Finally the beaches were closed and we could either take a full credit to use in the future or a 50% refund. We took the refund. We received the money from the owner in 3 days, and are still waiting on VRBO to refund the $189 service fee. They are literally the worst. I will never use them again.
Our next trip was to HP world at Universal. We used points for the flights from Southwest, and they gave us all our points back right away. We used an authorized agent to book our trip, she offered is a credit for the future or a 100% refund, we took the refund, but it will be 4-6 WEEKS to get the money back. Seems excessive and if it was with a smaller company I would probably be worried about liquidity issues. But I think I'm ok with Universal.
We canceled a summer cruise. While I think travel in summer will be possible I think a cruise is really iffy for a long time given the enclosed aspect of it. We got the deposit back but that is all we had put down.
Overall I don't know what we're doing this summer. The resort I wanted to check out in driving distance is selling out and the room type we wanted doesn't seem available. Their website is also pretty buggy.

I cancelled a flight I had a few weeks ago for a conference in Ohio. Alaska gave me a credit good for a year. I'm hoping they'll rethink that if travel is restricted for awhile.
We also cancelled a ski trip to Whistler for our spring break (week starting Easter Sunday). No flight costs, and the hotel fully reimbursed us even though we were within the no cancellation window. Which they probably would have had to do anyway since soon after they stopped allowing people to cross the border.
We had to cancel a trip to the Bahamas for March 16-24. Southwest gave us a credit and most of the hotels/tickets were within the cancelation period when we decided not to go. We lost about $500 overall, so not bad.
FIL had a cruise cancelled. He was offered 100% refund for 125% towards another cruise for later this year. After talking to DH, he took the 100%.
We're supposed to go to Utah in June. I'm beginning to wonder if that will end up not happenign. We haven't booked anything ourselves for it, but the peopel hosting booked the house last summer.
March 13-17 we were supposed to go to Charleston. It was the first time I had done an airbnb and it was a total mess trying to get our money back. The host was insistent that because there hadn't been cases reported there that travel could continue and they didn't need to offer refunds. Airbnb put a full refund policy in place, but it was for stays starting the next day. I fought with Airbnb over it and said we'd forego the first night but the rest of the stay should qualify. I ended up getting all of the money back. My airfare was on southwest so I have a credit.
Late May/Early June we were going to spend two weeks in Europe. All of my lodging was hotels so easily cancelled. The flights were on points thru American, and they were awesome. They gave me all of our points back without a fee. I got the points back within 24 hours and the taxes were credited back within a few days.
We were scheduled to go to China in Sept. All was paid but airfare. Put it towards another trip.
We were supposed to go to Fiji in May. Need to rebook the resort, and have until 12/21 to use the air credit. This trip is now going to be June 2021. Did not lose any $$ on this.
We have a cruise scheduled 11/20, and a river cruise scheduled 3/21. Hopefully all these are going to go as planned.
We cancelled a VRBO and hotel stay for next week. Our hotel, Aloft, refunded us with no issues. Our VRBO is refusing a refund but giving us a credit with really crappy terms. Our friends booked the VRBO so they are trying to contest it with their credit card.

Between us, DH and I have had to cancel six trips, both domestic and international.
All hotels refunded but we usually book refundable hotels. (I think they were almost all Marriott properties.)
We have thousands of dollars in travel credit across multiple airlines (United, American, Alaska). We fly American the least (and I usually try to avoid them), so who knows when/if we’ll be able to use that. We can use the United credit no problem.
We also have the value of three Disney World tickets we’ll need to figure out what to do with. It’s not like Florida is an easy jaunt for us so that’s the most annoying.
Have a trip to Italy scheduled for mid May, haven't cancelled yet but it's inevitable. It's through Delta Vacations so shouldn't be a problem, except one hotel we didn't book through them is non refundable, and they weren't offering refunds yet but would re-evaluate as of April 3. That's $900 I don't want to be out. So we'll check with them next week. Will reschedule for same time next year.
We were supposed to go to Kentucky with another family last week. We (I) booked the cabin through VRBO and it has been a nightmare. We officially cancelled on 3/12/20. The property owner has been great and agreed to give us our full refund. Working with VRBO is the literal worst. They are refusing to refund the full amount, and is only giving me half back. The property owner has refunded me almost $500 out of his own pocket (I tried to tell him not to, but he insisted) and I'm STILL waiting on VRBO's service fee to get credited back (I have a confirmation email dated 3/18/20 stating it's processing, but it still hasn't been credited). Every time I call, I'm on hold for almost 2 hours before I get connected to someone.
We cancelled a trip to FL that was to happen in two weeks and received credit for United. We were going to stay with my sister so no VRBO fights (which is what we usually use to book accommodations on vacation). We have a hotel booked in Vegas in July and we'll see what happens with that but I suspect we may cancel.
We were supposed to go to Palm Springs for spring break in 2 weeks. We cancelled our timeshare. I haven't cancelled flights yet in hoping that American will cancel the flight and give me $$ back not credit.

Everything was fine for me. For personal stuff 2 flights cancelled. For one got flight credit and the other got points back.
For work stuff 1 flight cancelled and 2 trains cancelled. And 1 hotel cancelled. Flight credit and the rest of everything else they gave me the money back even though they were originally non-refundable.
We were supposed to fly to FL and spend 1.5 weeks at Marco Island in two weeks. Hotels were fine, got everything back. JetBlue will give a future travel credit that has to be used within 12 months, so I am waiting to cancel that until closer to stretch out that 12 month period. Canceled rental car with no issues as well.

This is me too. In 2 weeks we have flights to Florida and Jet Blue is only offering travel credit at this time. Just waiting it out to see what happens I guess.
Me and DH both travel a ton for work. Between work travel, we had to canceled 7 trips. Flight credits will be used for future work travel.
For personal travel, we had to cancel three. One was a vacation rental and they provided us a credit to be used within 12 months. Another vacation was re-booked for September. The last one we were able to cancel the hotel but have not been successful on the flight. It was booked through Chase travel and they told me I need to wait until closer to the date in June.
We are supposed to travel to Europe at the end of June. We haven't cancelled yet but will likely do so. I'm so bummed-- we are supposed to see family friends who I haven't seen in something like 20 years. Hopefully we can reschedule for the next year.

The school canceled a trip to England for our son. We had Cancel for any reason insurance, so we could be out 25% of the trip cost. I am hoping that they refund more.
We still have a trip scheduled to Scotland for late July. It's the first trip I have booked almost all airbnb. I haven't tried to cancel anything yet. I am probably being dumb.

VRBO gave us a 100% refund (well maybe it was the house owner that had to approve it) for our house in Costa Rica, so that was about $3600.
Alaska Airlines gave us a 100% refund on our tickets even though they were nonrefundable tickets. We did it over text. That was about $4800. The other 4 families we were traveling with only got credits to use. I have no idea why we were able to get refunds. I did press the agent I was texting with and she took a long time responding saying she had to go check with someone, and came back saying she was able to get an exception.
