Can we talk about it? Has anyone done it? I see it a lot with keto (Keto is not for me) and I’m curious. What little research I’ve done, The 16/8 is the only one I would consider....that’s only eating from noon to 8 pm.
Healthy? Safe? Effective? Is this kind of taboo like cleanses? What are your thoughts?

It's often used as an effective weight loss tool. Is it healthy? depends, can you sustain it? and how does it make you feel?
Why do you want to try it? to lose weight? If so, I would start off documenting what you eat. I use an app that tracks my calories and macros( carbs, fats, protein). Then research what you should intake in a day (Google calorie and macro calculators). The only rule to weight loss or gain is either a calorie surplus or deficit. Nothing else matters, especially fad diets. After this, you can use fasting to support your healthy eating and to help you keep your calories lower. Hope this helps and I'll be happy to help you however you need.
scottcool do you have experience with IF though? I’m very familiar w MFP and I’ve done a cut on RP.
I do. I tried keto a couple years ago and that's where I started fasting, I use it day to day to maintain my goals. I usually only drink water and coffee while I fast. I use Lose it!

I was doing IF for a while, not really to do IF but because I wasn't really hungry at breakfast time. I preferred to eat lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, and a small snack in the evening.
For some reason all of the sudden I was hungry in the mornings, so I started eating all day again. Which I will admit is harder to keep to the same amount of calories, but I think if I'm hungry I probably should eat.
Bottom line, I think if you're hungry at certain times, you should eat then. I struggle a lot in the evenings now because I like to eat then, but I'm not necessarily hungry, and that's a difficult battle.

I've been doing it most week days mainly because I feel like it helps curb snacking during the day. For me, it's easier to just have "no eating times". I've had an eating window of ~10:30-6:30. Sometimes I'm hungry in the morning but usually, if I drink a mix of water, black coffee, and tea and I'm not dying. The key for me is to have something healthy ready to go when I can eat so I don't go for the crap around the house. Lately it's been overnight oats. It also helps me to avoid snacking at night if I know it pushes back when I can eat in the am.

I could have written this. I usually eat breakfast now, but once or twice a week I’ll skip it because I’m not hungry. I didn’t notice weight loss when I skipped breakfast, but that’s probably because I was eating 2 snacks between lunch and dinner. I tend to get more hungry later in the day.
It wasn’t that hard when I did it today and I even ran this morning. (As long as I have plenty of coffee!) I just wonder if it will make a difference in metabolism. I’m eating prepped foods/snacks.
It was suggested to me by my doctor/RD to try, since i was struggling with insulin and other abnormal test results. I did a bunch of research, and decided to try it.
For me, it was only sustainable when I was in a very low training volume period. If I was training heavier, I was severely under eating, and absolutely tanking. I couldn't force the calories in over the 8 hour period. And yes, I realize that part of IF will result in less calories overall, but I was REALLY low.
I didn't lose any weight, but I think that may be because of what I just said.
