My cycling team is doing 2 Zwift rides/week--one hilly and one other one. Both are "no drop" (setting on Zwift, so you can all ride together). I need to set it up and join them one day.
I've done a couple of local virtual races and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. One was to support our 3 local running shops, and another is a 24 hour virtual relay that has been going for almost 3 straight weeks now, and you just sign up for 30minute slots as you wish, with donation optional.
This weekend I'm doing the Yeti 24 hour challenge, which is 5miles every 4 hours for 24 hours, start date is whenever you choose up until May 15th. I am going to round up to hopefully get a 50K in. I'm not trained for the distance so will definitely be doing some walking.
If anyone is looking for a summer project, there is a virtual race across Tennessee starting this Friday May 1st Until August 31st. It's 1000K, mileage entered on the honor system, and walks/runs/treadmills, etc. all count. I'm in, and I'm wondering what I've done haha.
The 5k I was supposed to do in April went virtual so I “did” that. Meaning, I raced it on my own but didn’t submit results for the medal. I considered it an excellent donation to the children’s hospital they support.
Ironman has been doing a series of virtual challenges (run/bike/run) for different distances. I’ve done 2 so far, and will likely do more. If Ironman is going to do free races, I’m all for that!!!
My running club has a weekly race on Wed. We are not doing that obviously, but if we want to run 5k distance on Wed and email our time in it will be put into the weekly newsletter that always contains race results.
This coming Sunday I was supposed to do a 5k to raise $$ for a scholarship fund in memory of a local teacher who was murdered by one of her students. I donated my race fee and will run the 5k on Sunday in her memory.
I signed up for a ridiculous race I saw on instagram because I wanted the shirt. I can't even remember what it was - Anchorman, yogging with a soft j or something? It's a 5k. And at the moment, I'm not running at all. Hoping to get clearance from my PT guy today to start running again so might squeak it in by the deadline.
Ah - I found it - Run 2 stay classy 5k. Donations to Feeding America. But yeah, I really did it for the shirt.

I did the Yeti 24 Challenge last weekend, which was fun. I mainly walked and jogged at a slower pace than normal, such that I was surprisingly less sore and tired than I am after a regular 10 mile run.

I've also done a couple small virtual 5Ks.
coconutbug , congrats on the Yeti! I'm doing my challenge right now and just got back from run #2. The longest I've run in months is 10 miles, and I haven't run that regularly. But I'm doing a 1 mile walk/3 mile easy run/1 mile walk for each round and so far, so good. It's a crazy way to spend a day, but I feel like it's boosting my confidence a bit. Ask me again at midnight lol.

You can do it! Let us know when you finish!
And I signed up for the Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee also, because why not? Most of those miles will be walking and jogging slowly with my dog, but thankfully that still counts.

Aww yay! Please check in with how it goes for you. Yeah I figured the GVRAT will be a good motivator to get and keep my butt in gear over the summer. Plus, Laz is a legend and it may be the only race of his I can do!
So I'm halfway done with Yeti, getting ready for #4.
I signed up for the Yeti challenge! I’m doing it on Wednesday and Thursday I think. I’m going to take Thursday off of work so I can rest up afterwards.
I haven’t been running that many miles so this should be interesting!

I found it harder than a 50k all at once, very interesting to figure out nutrition. But.... Option to shower in between is nice! Please report back how you do. I finished at 130 this morning, will post a race report soon.
Can I ask about YesFit, which I see tons of ads for on FB? Is it legit? By which I guess I mean, do they really send the stuff you paid for? I need some motivation and paying for a medal might do it.
