RockNVoll , Here are some pics (excuse some of the kid mess), we're on a corner lot on a 1/2 acre and it's all pretty much landscaped. I liked the idea of outdoor "rooms" so we have a lot of things in various sections of the yard.
The patio needs some work (top right in this photo) - that's on the project list. It has a seating set and we plan on stringing Edison lights and using a fire pit there (grill is there too). Hoping to do a small addition and some kitchen work, and I think we'd improve the patio and add a pergola at that point (we had an aluminum pergola w/wisteria but it blew down in a bad storm). The one section of fence and landscaping is new from last year - there are some smaller vegetable and flower beds there too.
The big grass portion is the middle of the back yard. We use it for ladder ball, baseball, soccer, games (lots of moveable activities). It's hard to tell where things are from these pics, but hopefully it makes sense. The hammock under the cherry tree is one of our favorite places to be.
hard to see but the green behind that cherry three there's a sand box and we keep a lot of the kid plastic stuff in that area (it gets some shade too).
simpsongal, so sorry I forgot to say thank you for posting pics! You have a lovely backyard. I think you have even more space than we do! We're similarly planning to leave a large chunk open in the middle like that so we have room to put up our volleyball net
We (thankfully) did our stone paver patio a couple years ago, so the biggest thing is in place already.
We just hung string lights- found some pretty tall shepherd hooks so we just looped our seating area. I would have loved to go back and forth over the area but it just wasn't going to be high enough.
On order we have another couch for whenever we can have family over again since current setup only seats 4-6 (two can squeeze on the larger chairs).
Still enjoying our portable fire place but looking to get a larger one whenever it goes kaput.
