I have been eying St. Lucia for our 10 year anniversary next year. I have been reading all the tips and experiences here for St. Lucia. I had already fallen in love with Ti Kaye resort and a lot of people recommended it. However, it is so remote and I really like eating in various local restaurants instead of only in the hotel. Would you say it is doable to go into town for dinner etc. several times during a trip? I know the drive is 40 minutes. I also looked into Sugar Beach resort but find it a bit impersonal and the butler service is really putting me off. I like boutique romantic resorts/hotels with a spa and a beach front. Please tell me about your experiences going from Ti Kaye into town or recommend a different place to me. TIA.

I loved, loved, loved St Lucia. We stayed at East Winds. We didn't end up going off resort for meals as our meals were varied and so amazing. It was a small place (only 30 or so guests at the time) and we just ended up doing small day trips which worked for us.
We stayed at Ti kaye about 10 years ago and loved it. The remoteness didn’t bother me. I can get carsick and the roads are really twisty there so less time in the car was a plus for me too. The food was really good at the resort. We did go into town to the fish fry thing one night and that was a lot of fun and a good way to experience the culture of the island. We also had lunch out when we went on an excursion one day. It was probably one of the most relaxing vacations I’ve ever been on. It was a good mix of relaxation but they had plenty of excursions you could go on too.

We stayed at Ti Kaye for our honeymoon. It was almost 13 years ago, but we LOVED it. It’s an amazing place and you won’t be disappointed. We left the resort multiple times via taxi to go to Ladera for lunch or the Friday night fish fry. But the most fun was taking water taxis! Highly recommend. We took a water taxi to Rainforest Hideaway (not sure if it’s still there) in Marigot Bay. We also did sunset cruise and other boat excursions. Although remote, there was never a lack of things to do.
